Warren G Magnuson Park

I live right next to this park and it’s fantastic! It’s the biggest park I’ve been to in Seattle. It has great play fields, it’s very kid and dog friendly and even has an awesome dog park.

Best place to take a nice walk in the summer and also fly kites.
There is also an amazing dog park that is a bit smelly, but fun to walk around!

The best park in Seattle. Large doggy play area and a path that leads down to the water. Not much else I can say. The summers are great. I usually put on my keens and go in the water after my pup. The sun is reflecting off Lake Washington, life doesn’t get better.

I play soccer here pretty regularly. I do enjoy the large parking lot and the brightly lit soccer fields. The field numbering is a little hard to figure out but easier than some. I enjoy hearing the frogs croak in the summer. If you are not careful you can lose your ball in the moaty side lines. This park is large so if you don’t know exactly where you are going its easy to get lost. There are ton of things here including the Seattle Musical Theater (which I recently checked out for the first time and highly recommend), the Mountaineers and who knows what else.
I also come here frequently to participate in 5ks and other various running races. This I do not recommend here. These courses are never well marked and rarely anywhere close the distance promised. They also seem to have various starting places which lead to my confusion and the parking is very congested even though most of these races are pretty small. When I see possible future races where this is the course location I now try to skip over these after multiple bad course experiences. They do have a frequent series here which may be better orchestrated.

Really great park to go walking along lake Washington. Very mellow place to spend a weekend day and hang out in a relaxed park setting.
There is a huge dog park at Magnuson connected within the park.

Magnuson Park is a very large park, the second largest in Seattle. Like the largest (Discovery Park), this one used to be a military base, a Naval air station. Most of the field areas were once covered in asphalt and they’ve done a pretty good job of restoring it. I used to work in an office in Building 30, which is where the Friends of the Library book sale is held, as well as some other events. It was pretty run-​down at the time, but they did some renovations a few years ago. I haven’t been inside since then, though.
In the southern area of the park, a few years ago they did a large wetland restoration project that’s very interesting to visit every few months and see how it’s changing and progressing. A few years ago, there were a lot of individual, somewhat isolated little pools, but as time has passed (and partially due to beaver activity) they’ve started to merge together. The trees are growing quickly.
There are good walking paths here, though few trees. The trees that are here are mostly fast-​growing cottonwoods that have grown since the area stopped being used as a base.
The run-​down and abandoned military buildings here are depressing. I wish they would do something with the former barracks just off of Sand Point Way. A few years ago they were talking about renovating them and making low-​income housing, but that project was shelved, and as far as I know there aren’t any other current plans. Gradually, pieces of the park have been carved off and sold/​rented to private groups. What was once a grassy field near the community center is now a large indoor tennis facility that looks like it belongs on the Moon. I’m generally not a fan of the precedent of selling off public park land to private use, but on the other hand the buildings were degrading, so I’m glad they are at least getting some use.
There’s a large community garden here, which I enjoy strolling through to see all the items people plant. Even though we don’t have a dog, my partner and I enjoy hanging out in the dog park area to experience the dogginess… we do like dogs and hope to eventually get one. The dog area is huge, including a small dog area and a dog-​friendly beach. Unfortunately, there seems to be usually at least one incident of human drama or dog drama or both. One time a dog peed on my leg!!! (I was wearing old pants though so I mostly just thought it was funny.)
The restroom situation is pretty good. There are a lot of porta potties and at least 2 full restrooms — one on the lake shore, and one on the trails near some of the sports fields (I call this one «the bunker» because that’s basically what it is.)
This is a good place to birdwatch. I’m no professional birder, but I do like watching them, and I’ve seen so many goldfinches here (I don’t usually see them in the city), as well as some other birds I don’t see often, like a killdeer, and a large variety of ducks and other waterfowl.
There are a lot of picnic shelters, tables, and grills, and I often see people having picnics and cookouts here.
There are all sorts of events here. One time I saw a bunch of people dressed in Victorian garb playing croquet!
There’s something for most people here, between the trails, dog area, community gardens, sports fields, picnic areas, water access, etc… but parts of the park have a kind of run-​down, faded, tired sort of feeling that prevents me from giving it five stars.

What a great park — there are so many things to do: soccer fields, trails, picnic areas & Movies in the park!

This park just gets better and better with each project the parks dept completes. Between the sports fields, walking trails, waterfront, and playground I’m here almost every day. I’m thankful to live close!

This place has everything: nature, boating, beautiful views, great parks, pea-​patch garden, off-​leash dog park and friendly people. It has great bird watching trails and fun mini airplane watching for the kiddos. There are fields for soccer, baseball and tennis. You can’t go wrong with an active lifestyle here.

Gorgeous park along Lake Washington that offers just about everything you could want in a park. There are off-​leash areas for pet owners, beach front parts for water access for swimming, launch zones for boats and kayaks, and more.
Inside the park itself there are event spaces to rent for weddings and parties, there’s a rock climbing gym, there’s bike rentals, boat rentals, kayak rentals, paddle boarding, and so on.
I’ve been here many times for various 5k races, events, to go kayaking, to go on a picnic with friends, and to take dogs on walks.
A great park to visit if you’re up for an activity but not a great park if you’re looking for lots of green grass or playgrounds for kids. It exists here but this park is ideal for biking, walking, and water activities.

It’s ok… had some bad vibes from some dog owners like their dogs poo don’t stink. Judgmental, entitled, p/​a, typical douche seattlites. My dog had fun. Don’t talk shizz or make a rude gesture, because you’re asking for a fight.

Love this park! Very big, spacious. Access to the water. Favorite past time — bringing my pup here to swim and play ball and stick.

This park is HUGE. A lot of fun outside. Plan to do a lot of walking.
I volunteered for Springfest and came to the park for the first time. There were people everywhere. I don’t know if that’s the norm for the park or if that was for the festival.
The park has literally acres of lawn and sports fields. It’s next to the water and sailboat lessons were being offered. Multiple groups of people were sighted riding bikes. This is also a dog friendly park. There were rock climbing walls too.
The park was clean. The parking lot was really big but packed in. I had to park on the street.

Warren G Magnuson Park has a lot of space and is great for the neighborhood. I would not necessarily drive out of my way to go to this park however as Seattle has a a lot of great parks in nearly every neighborhood. One really awesome thing about this park is their dog park area. It’s very spacious. Actually, if you follow the path beyond the dog park, there’s a small dog beach that’s quite scenic and nice. It’s a great way to spend the afternoon with your pet.

We’re here for Seafsir. It so awesome seeing all the groups of people, couples and waiting for the Blue Angels.

They do some great outdoor movies in the park during the summer which are cheap and have a lot of vendors who have free or cheap samples of things.

Phenomenal park with tons of space and fields. Great dog park that is absolutely huge. Too bad many of the dog owners are not good owners, but there is enough space to get away. Great place for a walk.

I love coming here in the summertime! There is so much space and grass for a picnic/​bbq and you can also set up a volleyball net to play as well. Parking can be tricky once it fills up, but there are other lots in the area.
I would say the park gets busy, but it’s so big that it doesn’t necessarily feel that way. I’ve spent many summer days hanging out at this park because it’s close enough to home and it’s just a great place to be in the summer. It’s right on the water, and there are clean bathrooms too.
They have summer concerts and movies here too I think. It’s dog friendly and there’s a dog park too, but I haven’t been there in awhile.
Overall, lots to do at this park and it’s beautiful!

Beautiful park with grills to reserve, boat docks, walking trails, and a vast land for sports, Magnuson Park fills the needs of every active Seattleleite. Only having been here a few times, I never knew there were blackberry hedges in the field on the North end of the park near the tall trees.
After having picked 30 minutes worth of berries, I’ll never complain about the price again. It takes an immense amount of blood and sweat working around the thorny bushes. The berries are edible and sweet; I haven’t hived or had to see the doctors, so the berries are pretty legit.
Great for major holidays and large party events.

This is one of my favorite parks in Seattle. I always forget what it’s called and where it is… but somehow I always find myself here.
This place has a great boat launch if you have a boat… you have to pay a few $$ but it’s well worth it because the line is never too bad and it’s easy to get in and out of the water. They even have attendants who hang out here during the day to guide you in the right direction.
This place is also a prime spot for picnics. They’ve got so much grass area that even on a beautiful sunny day, it’s easy to find a good place right on the water.
I always see people swimming here on a nice day but the water always seems cold to me and a little brown for my liking.
I don’t know if I’m allowed to fish here or not but I went onto the boating dock and put my fishing pole in the water…30 seconds later, we were leaving so I turned around and had a fish on the end of my line. Best. Fishing. Experience. EVER!

Magnuson Park is a gem in Seattle. I love this park and I can’t believe I hadn’t been before last year.
The views are wonderful and it’s just peaceful and a great place.
The park hosts a series of runs throughout the Spring and Summer which have reasonable entry fees.
There are several fields where people play soccer and other games. There’s a boat launch. You can see Mt. Rainier. There is a dog park. Parking is free throughout the park.
It is fairly muddy a lot of the time which is kind of a downer but not a big deal if you’re careful to avoid the muddy areas on the trails and in the grass.
Love this park!

After years of going to this park, I’m still not positive that I’ve been everywhere. I’ve walked a very, very long way. Still not sure.
A lot of events happen here as well as the usual summer fun. It has a little something for everyone — grass for playing, tracks to run arund, off leash dog park for our friends, water to splash around in, trees to hide under, picnic areas to gather at, playground for the kiddos, and so much more.
Parking (from my perspective) is not great considering the size of the park and the draw. Accessibility by mass transit is okay, but still not great. Carpool if you can and fill that car up with people because you’ll definitely want to stay awhile.
My favorite day is a picnic by the beach. There’s enough sun and shade to make anyone smile, places to barbecue, and spots to wade into the water. If you’re going here, try to plan to make a day of it so you can enjoy all this park has to offer.
