Their lemongrass chicken banh mi for $ 6 is a steal! There’s something about their sauce however, that was really off-putting. It was all over the chicken and had this combination of super salty and tangy with creaminess that made my tongue curl.

Cheap and delicious. One of the best food trucks in SLU, easily.

Stay away!!! If I can write no stars I would but the app will not let me. My cousin works at Amazon and my aunt(his mom) and me visited him so we decided to go out to eat. We walked to the XPlosive food truck for lunch. My cousin ordered the lemongrass tofu Banh Mi, my aunt ordered the adobo chicken vermicelli and I ordered the same as my aunt. Why do they not take credit cards here? they are CASH only and I have never seen that in Seattle since I have been living here. I don’t carry cash and my family members do not either. The chicken was very very salty with little flavor. I am accustom to bold, Asian flavors and this was not good. I give it 1 star because my aunt and I ended up getting very sick this night and we both ate and ordered the same thing so we believe it was the food we ordered from this food truck. It does not taste good and is a waste of money.

Got the chicken adobo fried rice and bahn mi sandwich. It was awesome! The fried egg totally did it for me. Popping the yolk and letting it get all over made the fried rice extra delish. The chicken was a little dry, but I really liked the flavor. The bahn mi sandwich was delicious as well. Totally a fan of this place!!!

Great truck, fast, quality and affordable. I’ve only had the bahn mi but I thoroughly enjoyed it. I will be coming back to explore the menu! Thanks guys!

Thursday is my favorite lunch day because I get to eat at Xplosive! They park near my work, so I can still grab lunch even if it’s raining. You can’t go wrong with either the Chicken Adobo fried rice or Lemongrass pork banh mi, both are delish and are a great value at $ 6 each(Cash Only)! Their staff is super friendly and the line moves very quickly.

My favorite food truck for cheap lunch — and if you work it right a healthy lunch at that in SLU. The chicken adobo fried rice is great but the real winner here is the vermicelli bowl — rice noodles, loads of fresh veggies, and loads of meat. The lemongrass chicken is my favorite, which seems to be popular as that is the only thing they ever seem to run out of. The total cost of a giant bowl is $ 6. It’s $ 1 for extra meat and $ 1 to add an egg. EDIT: today I got the $ 1 extra meat and there was definitely not extra meat. I lamented this and someone near the truck said they experience the same thing. Still, great bang for your buck EDIT #2: I tried the fili beef steak today and it has trumped the lemongrass chicken as my new favorite.

One of the best food trucks in SLU. Most affordable truck and they have a fast and friendly staff(Say Hi to Cathy!). Always busy, but never a long wait in line. Very vegetarian friendly as well. Their Tofu Banh Mi has me going back for more every week.

Footlong Fusion Filipino and Vietnamese Chicken Adobo Banh Mi for $ 6??? That is a steal! Really Amazon food truck. They only accept cash but service was fast and everyone was nice. The sandwiches had really good textured bread with really tasty and flavored chicken. Their sauce they have is REALLYAMAZING. Highly recommended!!!

Xplosive is one of my favorite trucks in South Lake Union! They specialize in a unique blend of Vietnamese and Filipino cuisines. I generally go for for their Signature Xplosive Banh Mi($ 6) with lemongrass tofu. I’m not a vegetarian, but their lemongrass tofu as a meat substitute is bomb! Their banh mis come with cilantro, daikon, cucumber, carrots, some kind of mayo spread, and jalapeño! So delicious and great for the price point. Their sound system is pretty awesome too if you like a mix of fun ‘90s jams. So much love for this little truck! BTW, this truck is cash only!

This was my first visit to this truck and so many positive reviews here are quite surprising. May be that I didn’t order the right thing. I took Chicken adobo with vermicelli and I must admit, it was cold sans any taste or flavor. I don’t know if it is meant to be so. I left wondering what was Vietnamese here except the vermicelli. Of-course, the prices are the cheapest in the vicinity but I couldn’t finish my food as it was totally tasteless. Would I go there again for trying? Nope. Among all the ingredients that were on my plate, nothing was tasty.

Bahn mi with chicken adobo! :9. Soft, crispy bread stuffed with moist, tender chicken, jalapenos, and veggies… and it was HUGE! Unbeknownst to me, sauce fell out of my sandwich as I scarfed it down, so be careful about that, but besides that. what’s not to love! Grab lots of napkins! Mmm. The Vermicelli bowl with chicken and veggies was also really good. I think I actually liked this dish better than my beloved bahn mi! The flavors were definitely ‘xplosive’ and portion size was just right. It’s been fun to see the food cart culture develop in Seattle over the years, and Xplosive is a great addition to the mix. I did have to chase this cart down throughout SLU since their location varies per day, but for great food and service, reasonable prices, and food that comes out fast and fresh… it’s well worth it! … even if you don’t work at Amazon! ;)

Shut your pie hole, because they don’t serve pie. What they do serve, and are they aggressively priced delicious eats? The answer is YES, this place serves the grandest of food truck delights. «xplosive» is what you should think about when it comes to the flavor. Not that other obviousness that you might imagine getting from a Mexican/Spanish themed joint. What you should order here, depends on your mood. If you so desire, there are Banh Mi(vietnamese sandwiches), Tacos, Adobo fried rice, and Vermicelli Noodles. It’s a collection of awesomeness, and delicious. Oh yeah, if you can’t decide between the Fried Rice or the Vermichelli Noodles, you can get a combo plate with both,(2 $ more, equals just a measly 8 $, and you are getting a bigger portion)… so yes, you are compensated nicely for food that makes you smile, fills your mouth with love, and flavors that well, you are happy you arrived. Yes, I work just a block away, so it’s a new my go to, when it’s around. You may take my money, and when you do, please keep doing what you do, which is delicious love. and food.

Best food truck in the South Lake Union by far. I frequent this place about once a week. FYI: Xplosive is a CASH only food truck. Great food, service, and prices! I always get either the fried rice or the vermicelli bowl and both are $ 6. They use really fresh ingredients and they are always consistent! Also, Cathy is so sweet and remembers everyone’s names and orders! Super impressive! This food truck really blows all of the other ones in the area out of the water.

Ordered the chicken adobe fried rice and pork banh mi slider. With Peach, it was only $ 5 since I recommended someone to Peach services. Fried rice was kind of salty, but it isn’t too bad. The banh mi is cute size. The meet is deliciously marinated. I would order from here again.

Great affordable prices, especially for the SLU area. Banh Mi for $ 6 almost everything is $ 6 except sliders and tacos which are $ 3 a piece. Meat is very flavorful and service is friendly and quick. Fusion take on Filipino/Vietnamese. My favorite is the chicken adobo banh mi and I like to add a little extra of the thousand island color-esque sauce which I assume is spicy mayo. The banh mi is bigger than the traditional ones at Vietnamese shops and the meat quality is light years beyond that. Great spot for lunch but I would go earlier because the line gets long quick.

4 stars. The banh mi are good — I ordered the lemon grass with tofu plus egg and my colleague ordered the pork banh mi with egg. Both were delicious. The bread is nice, the lemon grass flavoring is super. The egg makes a big difference but costs an extra $ 1, totally worth it. With the egg the banh mi’s are priced at $ 8, which is a very reasonable deal for South Lake Union, however, if you are hungry, a banh mi by itself will likely not be sufficient. My colleague also ordered the tacos and mentioned that they were not good — the tortillas were questionable. Stick to the banh mi’s here.

Xplosive is awesome. Their banh mi is delicious and there a variety of meats for you to choose from. Chicken, pork, and sardines. I usually go for the lemon grass chicken banh mi. It’s pretty tasty and the price can’t be beat among the food trucks in the SLU area. Then there’s the customer service. They know you by name and will take your order with a smile. They have among the best customer service of the food trucks. And that makes a big difference!

Still love this place! I was super craving Vietnamese coffee, and was short on cash(they don’t take card). Asked if I could buy half a cup, and the lady was really nice and gave me a full cup anyways! It was delicious and the perfect pick me up for the afternoon. Why am I always short on cash when I’m here! Amazon Local Register anyone?(or Square?)
