Do you feel like your pet is your furkid? You will be at home here! We have been with Animal Hospital through three owner Veterinarians — that’s a long time. Dr. Sue moved the practice to current location and put her ideas to work and things really blossomed. Dr. Nicole has taken up the practice and continues. Extremely wonderful vets, wonderful staff — you cannot get any more kind and genuine than these folks are. And they KNOW their stuff. If you have a fearful dog let them know — they can manage without making a fuss and causing more trauma. They also have complementary medicine, acupuncture and chiropractic available as needed. I hope this practice maintains it’s level of service and it’s kind and compassionate delivery of aid to West County animals and their families. Please stay local and independent, we love you!

HUGE fan of this place! My dog is a nervous 35lb big baby lol Dr Charlotte Rockwood was amazing with her. She got down on the floor and let Roxy get comfortable with her before preforming the exam. Her approach just blew me away. In my previous vet experiences, the vets are rushed and seem annoyed that Roxy is nervous. Highly recommend this place!

Wow! I cannot rave enough about this place! The office is adorable, with an outside garden sitting area. Everyone was so warm and welcoming, I could tell that everyone working genuinely loves what they do. The vet we saw was so kind and treated my old little kitty like a princess. Also they are very affordable! I will definitely be taking her here from now on.

What a fantastic place! This vet office has renewed my faith in the trusting vets. From appointments that are on time to the amazing care my dog recieved, this place is the best! I have a dog that doesn’t do well getting put under. Every other vet I’ve been too always puts him under to do x-​rays or other tests and when my pup had a small tumor on his belly, they did all the tests for him without any drugs, they also removed the tumors with a local instead of completely putting my dog under. That went a long way for me and I strongly recommend this hospital for your animals. I also want to note that at other vets they have wanted to muzzle my dog and are very rough with him… Not here, they laughed and smiled and talked so nice to my dog, he loved them and was comfortable the whole time. Forget the rest and goto the best, Animal hospital of Sebastopol, can’t say enough good things about them.

I’m not a client of AHS but wanted to post a great review of them. Someone brought my 15 year old chihuahua, who wandered off and got lost, to AHS to look for a microchip. They took Tom in, scanned his chip, fed him, gave him a warm bed and hugs, and waited patiently for me to pick him up. When I offered to pay them, they suggested I make a donation to the Sonoma County animal shelter. They couldn’t have been more wonderful, compassionate, generous. Real true blue animal lovers.

These are truly the best Vets and staff anywhere. Our family has a lot of animals, 3 horses, 1 dog, 1 cat, and three chickens. Recently our 8 year old yellow lab Izzi experienced a lot of stomach discomfort and throwing up. She couldn’t keep any food or water down so we rushed her to the emergency clinic in Rohnert park. This experience was not as positive. We radiographed Izzi and saw a mass in her stomach that was suggested to be removed via surgery. Our normal vet is Dr Barbara at Sebastopol Animal Hospital and she fit us in her very busy schedule. The staff, from the front staff scheduling to the techs, to the nurses, and the doctors were so compassionate and loving it was like Izzi was at home the whole time. The level of care and thoughtfulness was so incredible we can never express our overarching gratitude. Dr Barbara performed the surgery and removed and mass of sand from her stomach at a reasonable cost. It wasn’t until after the surgery that Izzi experienced more problems. She kept vomiting and was unable to eat or drink. After continued attempts and treatments with motility drugs things kept getting worse. Dr Barbara gave us her cell phone number and was basically on call for us which was such a blessing. The staff and nurses were so understanding at each visit we were so happy. After going back in more than 6 times for radiographs, ultrasounds, and treatments you can only imagine our concern as Izzi kept getting worse. The clinic staff, and doctors were so helpful and understanding they helped us with so many costs and treatments that we could never have afforded even half the efforts they put out. Dr Barbara and Dr Nicole worked together on so many things and finally had Izzi in for another surgery, they were both so amazing. I wish we had words for how awesome everyone here is. Thank You Dr Barbara and Dr Nicole so much. Izzi is recovering and we could not have ever had such a great experience. Thank you for treating Izzi so well and for loving her like one of your own family. We love you all so much and we are so blessed and thankful. I am thankful for you and as tears steam down my face I can never express how amazing and beautiful you guys are. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. We love you!

This vet is the best! They are so good I almost don’t want to tell anyone because I think I might actually have a hard time making an appointment if people knew. I used to live around the corner from here and took my dog here for all sorts of ailments, lumps, torn fragment in the eye, check ups etc. I now live in Santa Cruz and drive all the way here to take my dog here. There is no doctor I trust more than Gwen to access my dog, do procedures, clearly spell out the issues and my options in dealing with them. Gwen is kind, well informed and excellent in her communication. She lays out the options and is not judgmental if you choose the less expensive path. If you want good care, come here.

While on travel our beloved Greyhound, Czarina, stopped eating and rapidly lost weight — over 10 lbs in just a couple of weeks. Finding a vet to trust so far from home was daunting. The great reviews on Unilocal helped us to find Dr. Cannon at The Animal Hospital of Sebastopol. We can’t say enough about the caring staff. Czarina is leery of those pesky slick linoleum floors. The staff quickly remedied her fear by bringing runners for her to walk on and Dr. Jill even carried her to xray rather than tramitize her further. Such amazingly caring people who really think about the comfort of the animals in their care.
Dr. Cannon spent so much time and effort trying to diagnose Czarina’s illness and kept us informed with test results sometimes calling as late as 9 at night and even on Sunday! She made us feel very comfortable by consulting with our own vet back home. She also consulted with a local Internist who we eventually agreed to meet although we didn’t want to leave Dr. Cannon. Knowing when to bring in a specialist shows her high level of professionalism.
It was finally determined that Czarina had acquired Coccidiomycosis (Valley Fever) while we were in AZ. This is a deadly fungal infection that took weeks of intensive treatment but they saved her life and she is almost back to her goofy self. Although we had been working with the specialist for weeks Dr. Cannon still kept in contact with us and wanted to see Czarina before we left the area just to say hello and see how much better she was feeling.
I fully recommend Dr. Cannon and the caring staff at The Animal Hospital of Sebastopol.

I just wanted to use this public forum to thank Dr. Nicole Canon for the incredible compassion, sympathy and consummate professionalism she displayed when she came to our house and put our beloved 17-​year-​old cat to sleep. He was ready to go, and it was a calm, peaceful and completely painless experience for him. He was sitting in my lap the entire time, and I would have known if he had reacted in any way to the injections, but he didn’t, at all. Dr. Canon took all the time that was needed to let the initial sedative take hold, just sitting quietly and listening to our stories about our little cat friend. We really loved him, and this was a tragic event, but it was made somewhat less tragic than it could have been by Dr. Canon’s calm, understanding, and competence.
I have to say that the one and only thing I object to about this establishment is their tendency to use the honorific «Dr.» with first names. To my mind, the only medical specialty that gets to do this is pediatricians, and then only with their patients and not with the parents. But that’s just me, and I imagine all vets do it. So she’ll always be Dr. Canon to me, not «Dr. Nicole,» but that doesn’t diminish my respect and gratitude.

This is the most wonderful animal hospital I’ve ever worked with. I’ve had companion animals for more than 30 years (dogs, cats and guinea pigs), and in lots of different locations. But, I’ve never experienced this level of genuine compassion and caring and just plain fantastic treatment of myself or my animals at any other veterinary clinic!
Every one of the staff members are highly trained, well informed and very caring of their patients, from the vet techs and doctors to the wonderful people who answer the phones.
We recently had to «put down» our 15 year old companion dog, and the entire staff was so wonderful to us. They helped and supported us beautifully during a very awful and traumatic time for our family.
I can’t recommend this animal hospital highly enough!

Amazing place!!! They saved my dogs life.
I just moved to the area and my German Shepherd got into a fight with another male Shepherd. It was so brutal that the other dog almost ripped his tongue off. My boyfriend and I rushed to find the closest vet, and were blessed to find this one. They had never seen us before. Without question, they rushed us in the surgery room. Blood was spurting all over the place. They took care of our dog and sewed him up (it took almost 2 hours). Their work was impeccable. They never fretted about payment– they just took care of our dog, When I got the bill, it was more than fair!!!
The ladies at the vet do this because they truly care for the animals.
The establishment is so nice to work with that I am taking all of our animals there going forward.

This clinic is AMAZING. The staff is friendly, professional and they are priced honestly. I had previously gone to Banfield hospital and I felt the doctor didn’t care at all he didn’t even do simple things such as listen to my dogs heartbeat or check in his ears or eyes. But when we went to sebastapool animal hospital the doctor was great very thorough and explained what she was doing to my pooch. I was very pleased with the customer service and will never go anywhere else as long as I am living in the area. Do you and your pet a favor and go here!

We’ve been looking for a good vet since moving into the area. Our dog seemed to have something stuck in his eye and was squinting all night. We called the next morning and they were able to get us an appointment that evening.
It was easy to find their location. Their facilities are very welcoming and homely.
The staff was very nice and Dr. Barbara Farrell was wonderful. She was so kind and patient. She answered all of our questions and genuinely cared about our dog.
They are priced very well also.
I am definitely returning and recommend anyone who wants their pet cared for to come here!

Simply the BEST small Animal Hospital in the world!!! My husband and I and my grown daughters have been clients for years and I worked there for a short time. The staff, veterinarians, technicians are all EXCELLENT and top notch. The hospital is clean and well ran and the care the animals are given is outstanding. I can unequivocally recommend this hospital and any of the veterinarians working there.

I just want to say what a great experience I had with this hospital. Everyone was genuinely caring when I had to say good bye to my cat. I will use them for all my future pet family members.

Dr. Barbara Farrell, is particularly wonderful, however, all of the vets and the office staff are great. I have been going to this vet hospital since the 80’s before they moved to the building they’re in. The best.

Animal Hospital of Sebastopol are great. They are a locally owned business and they provide personal service which is so rare these days. They are reasonably priced, especially compared to the other vets I’ve seen in the area. They are NOT a 24 hour emergency pet clinic, but keep animals overnight if needed for procedures.
The office sends reminder cards for vaccines which is helpful as I could never keep track myself. They have a vaccine clinic two Saturdays a month that is inexpensive and convenient if you work during the week.
Dr. Nicole Canon is great, the best vet there and she always takes our budget into consideration when deciding the best treatment. Dr. Canon removed a cancerous growth from my cat’s tail and saved the tail which was really impressive. My cats don’t attack Dr. Canon, I think they can tell she cares.
They are a busy office but most of the gals in the office recognize me on the phone, which is nice. They are almost always swamped at the front desk so you need to be patient. The techs are all really nice, very competent and listen to your hypochondriac pet parent concerns. One tech even showed me how to give my cat sub-​q fluids 3 times until I felt comfortable with it. Mindy and Jamie are both especially outstanding and caring techs, they inspire hope and confidence.
Everyone there was very sweet when I lost my 16 year old cat last year. They helped her live well that long. This is not my first vet in West County, but it’s the one I have stayed with for years, and the only place my 2 younger cats have ever gone.
The round-​up: Sensible and personalized care, reasonable prices, professional, very busy (which tells you something about how many happy customers they have). They patiently answer guardians questions and concerns about animals’ treatments.

We’ve been bringing our retired racing greyhounds to Animal Hospital of Sebastopol since 2004. We’ve had nothing but fabulous, compassionate service. Our dogs have each had some quirks (whose doesn’t?!), and all the staff has accomodated them and us. They understand greyhound idiosyncracies, and are very willing to have you partner in your pet’s care.
A few months ago, when we had to have our first grey put down, all of the staff was exceptionally caring…
Can’t say enough good things about all the vets, techs, and front desk staff.

My girlfriend and I recently moved into the area — about a minute’s drive away from the Animal Hospital of Sebastopol. How convenient for her Yorkie and us we thought.
One day she and the dog were taking a walk near the Animal Hospital of Sebastopol. She decided to stop by to get some information on their services as well as to introduce both herself and her dog. Immediately she was met with a rude attitude from the receptionist. «You need to make an appointment. We don’t take walk-​ins,» said the receptionist harshly. My girlfriend told her she just wanted some information on rates as she was in the area. «Pamphlets are over there,» said the cold receptionist while pointing at the tri-​folded pamphlets. My girlfriend left with a bad taste in her mouth, saying «no way».
So what’s going on with this place? You just lost prospective customers with your rude receptionist. Maybe it was just a bad day? But either way, we’ll go elsewhere.
