I took the fish class and came home with a packet full of recipes and articles and notes and a thorough understanding of how to cook fish backwards and forwards(well actually broiled, sauted, grilled…). The best part is that you get to taste everything all through the class, and also Bob tells stories about growing up in the South and how once he was poisoned by mercury(you see – knowing this stuff is important!).

This guy is a fantastic cooking teacher: knowledgeable, eloquent, patient and funny. He teaches classes out of his kitchen in Sebastopol and also gives private lessons. I walked away armed with peace of mind and a slew of new ways to try cooking the stuff, although the best part was probably the class lunch at the end:-) If you get on his mailing list, he sends mouth-watering descriptions of the things he’ll teach in class as well as wonderful quotes about food from Luther Burbank to old French proverbs to Miss Piggy(«never eat more than you can lift»).
