This hotel has it all: great customer service, clean rooms, nice breakfast, free parking, bus stop just a block away(to take you downtown Manhattan for less than $ 4.00) and great location! I have been staying at many hotels and I tend to be very picky but I can’t find any bad thing about this hotel. We were greeted in a professional manner, the room was beautiful and clean, there was even small kitchen, including big fridge and freezer. Very close to hotel you can find different restaurants and Walmart. Or you can leave your grocery shopping list with the front desk. It is a nightmare to go downtown Manhattan by car — it may take more than an hour and you will be paying $ 14 for the toll and then $ 20-$ 30 for parking. Just a block away there is a bus stop and the bus you will get downtown for only $ 3.75.(Be sure not to leave at rush hour, we took the bus around 11am and it took about 20 – 25 minutes.) Will definitely return.

We visited 6 months to the day after this location had opened. The property was certainly clean and everything felt very new. However, there were still some residual signs of a newly opened hotel i.e. tape on the ceiling near the air vents in the lobby and a handle missing from a drawer in our room. Little things that will be fixed soon I imagine. Overall everyone was very kind and wished us well as we were coming and going. My small gripe here is that two evenings in a row, we were told that we looked«tired» as we passed the front desk after spending all day in the city. While we were certainly exhausted, that’s not always the kindest greeting to offer. The room was pleasant though when using the pull out sofa it actually becomes somewhat difficult for two people to maneuver. The bathroom has TONS of space and I loved the shower. We didn’t use any of the kitchen area but it was nice to have it available. Breakfast was pretty blah each day and almost brought the rating down to 3 stars. The buffet area doesn’t seem proportional to the number of rooms in the hotel and the gracious seating area in the lobby. It was very crowded all three mornings we were there and the women were having trouble keeping hot and cold food in stock. Despite all that, the location was fantastic and it was easy to come and go from the city. I would definitely stay at this Residence Inn in the future.

Visiting less than 100 days after it opened for business, I couldn’t find anything of note that I would want to have changed about this Residence Inn. Especially if you’re limited to stays at or below Marriott Rewards Category 5 while visiting the New York City area, I can’t imagine that there’s a better option that’s still relatively close to Manhattan and with this level of service. To me, the property seems like a stylish, suburban mix of Courtyard and Residence Inn brands, taking contemporary design cues from the former and the attention to a ‘home-away-from-home’ ethos from the latter. The results inside of the hotel are smart, yet comfortable, spaces in the individual rooms and in the lobby. By «suburban», I absolutely meant that there’s plenty of free parking available. Thoughtful touches in the guest rooms here include plenty of USB power sockets, NFC-compatible, Bluetooth clock radios and a bag of microwaveable popcorn mixed in with the coffee and tea offerings. Standard Residence Inn features like a full-size ironing board, dishes, a ‘pantry store’ near the front desk and a refrigerator are also offered. Studio rooms, by my estimate, are 400+sf(including a pleasantly roomy bathroom). As of this writing, an outdoor lounge remains under construction. Inside, however, there are already several common areas for guests to work or relax in, including a small bar, glass + gas fireplace, semi-secluded booths, a long, bar height table and several high-backed lounge chairs. More than a bit of natural light highlights the modern décor during the day. Other notes: *Public transit via bus is available. The 320(NJ Transit) runs directly into Manhattan for about $ 4 one-way. The route’s stop is two blocks(if even) from the hotel’s front door. Connecting to the Secaucus Junction(Frank Lautenberg) rail station via bus is also an option, but does include a much longer walk to a different bus(129). *There are plenty of dining options within a short walk of the hotel, as well as a movie theater. Most of the neighboring restaurants are part of larger chains; a few local options are located in Secaucus’s downtown district, about 15 – 20 minutes away by foot(roughly a mile). *As you’d expect of a property this new, the workout facility is still immaculate. A couple of tread mills, bikes, and ellipitcals are available. There’s also space to work with weights/do plyometrics/lay out a yoga mat/whatever you do. The pool is small(about the same size as a «standard» hotel pool), but fine for unwinding or giving kids somewhere to splash. *The breakfast bar is standard fare, including hot + cold offerings(…and plenty of them). Milk, juice, coffee. Waffles. Eggs. Meat(turkey sausage, the morning that I was there). Oatmeal. Muffins. While there’s a Dunkin Donuts nearby(when is there not…), you can get a similarly good breakfast sandwich as part of your stay here. *If there’s any downside to this place, it’s that the views aren’t much to write home about…
