Nothing is 5 stars in my book, but I can’t think of a single fault here. Hands down the best lunch spot in Crystal City. Fresh tasting ingredients, lots of toppings, amazing taste, and very reasonably priced. They have chicken every day but will also rotate steak and two different types of pork. Would have to say their pork is probably the best but everything here tastes great. The difference between a place like Chipotle(their only competition in Crystal City, if you could even call it that) is like night and day… they don’t have to mask for a complete lack of flavor with a deathly amount of salt like they do at Chipotle, and they don’t charge you extra for guac(ridiculous) either. Eat here once and you’re guaranteed to never set foot in that place again. My only complaint? They won’t be around from Christmas through March.

Tried District Taco truck today for the first time at Clarendon Days. 2 chicken tacos, unlimited toppings $ 5 — score. Best deal of the day. I ordered chicken but received the pork instead, a slight accident and they were great. The service was quick and the Tacos although, a little sloppy, hit the spot. Next time the burrito for $ 7!

This is for the restaurant — I haven’t eaten at the truck. I have eaten lunch here about 40 times. I haven’t explored the menu much because the tacos are so damn good. 2 tacos is the perfect lunch. I prefer the fish tacos(they have them a couple of times a week) and the al pastor. Get whatever the special meat is, you cannot go wrong — when it’s not fish it is usually a yummy pork. I have had the burritos but they are a little too big — I just want to sleep after that. I want to try their ceviche some time. They have a selection of iced-down bottles of Mexican beer at the cash register. Looks great, but no lunch beers for me. The food comes out very quick and hot, even during a rush.(The line gets long, though). You order & pay at the counter and give your name. A runner comes out with your food, announcing your name. People don’t always describe Mexican places as «efficient», but that’s what they are — they really hustle, and the kitchen is open so you can watch your tacos being built. If your lunch hour is tight, be assured you can get in and out of there with a happy belly in just a few minutes. The parking lot gets full — I often avoid the hassle and park a few yards away on Lexington st. Some people park at the asian place next door but I don’t know if that’s OK or not. Follow them on Twitter @districttaco for announcements about the location of the food truck and sometimes updates on their specials. I love this place. Orale! EDIT: I should have put this review in the right place:
So sue me.

Y’know, I wanted to like this place. I really did. After all I’ve heard about it, I wanted to jump for joy when I finished my last bite. But it left me feelin’ «meh, I coulda gone to Chipotle.» I may have been there on an off day. Also, I know that the food truck these guys have is apparently made of miracles and serves magic and rainbows. But their brick and mortar store? *Shrug* Meh. For the sake of transparency, I will point out that I am exceedingly fussy about mexican food(lived there for nine years), and if someone tells me «this place is better than mexico», I expect to walk out crying from how amazing the food was in this restaurant. It wasn’t. Mind you, I didn’t hate the food, I just wasn’t impressed; and they have weird«gringo» soda that I would expect to find at Trader Joe’s, not at an «authentic» taco joint. I expect to find tamarind juice, horchata, and real limeaid(at the very least), at an «authentic» mexican taco joint. So yeah, «meh»

You can’t beat District Taco for its value. $ 7 for a loaded barbacoa burrito. Free unlimited toppings. That’s not even the best part, the best part is chorizo is a topping. I repeat, CHORIZOIS A TOPPING. And you get a free soda. A 4lb baby and a diet coke for $ 7? Obesity: 1, Jon: 0. Burrito is excellent. I would have liked a grilled option, as the tortilla was having problems holding in all the loaded options I added. Had a barbacoa, lettuce, pico de gallo, cheese, guac(can’t believe guac is free) and chorizo burrito. Made to order in less than 5 minutes. Barbacoa was smokey, juicy(not too much juice so the burrito wasn’t a puddle of sauce at the end). Beans were normal(probably canned). Veggies and rice were nothing special. Couldn’t taste the chorizo actually. Guac and cheese were nice portions. The meat was loaded on here, no joke. All I could taste was the meat, and i have no problem with that. This place is one of the best value options around for lunch. Go there, and you won’t be disappointed.

Every Saturday morning I get my DT fix. Usually it’s a breakfast taco, and a carnitas or barbacoa. Two tacos are plenty enough for me, and unlike some of the other posters, I can easily handle the hot salsa(which is fantastic btw). Can’t really say much else other than, keep doing what you’re doing DT!

I have heard that these guys have some of the best tacos and burritos in the DC metro area so I HAD to try them when they came to Rosslyn a couple of weeks ago. I ordered 2 chicken tacos for $ 5 with fajita vegetables, guacamole, and pico de gallo. It was so good. The chicken was well cooked and well seasoned, the fajita vegetables(peppers and onions) were tender but had enough«crunch» to add to the texture. The guacamole and pico de gallo were both also good. However, I’m not sure I would call it a «taco.» I would say what I had was ready-made chicken fajitas. Their taco shell is a flour tortilla, although they do have corn tortillas on request. I grabbed a few different salsas for my «tacos.» Being a spice-eater, I dumped their spicy-spicy salsa on my first taco. Wow. WOW. My lips were numb for 20 min after the searing pain that set in when it first touched them. I had to hold my soda can to my lips for relief. It wasn’t too hot on the inside of the mouth but oh holy moly did my lips hurt. The other salsas were also good– the mild green and the robust medium. I did knock it back 1 star on this review due to the incredibly LONGGGG wait for the food. I do not think any food should take a 40 minute wait let alone Mexican street food that has a limited menu. That is almost an entire lunch hour waiting for lunch. I realize it’s only three people in that tiny cart, but maybe they should have invested in a larger truck along with their new, brick n’ mortar store. The biggest problem I had with the wait is that my order was already in and I had already paid. I was fortunate in that it was a slow Friday so there was no big hurry to get back to the office; however, the wait really is a bit unacceptable for a lunch crowd, no matter how popular. Ultimately, food was great. I will have to try their restaurant. I might go to the cart again soon but will be sure to hit it up at 11am and not noon.

The perfect burrito is an elusive, even mythical prey. Today, during my precious lunch break, I chose District Taco’s shiny, tiny cart in the urban jungle of downtown Rosslyn to attempt this particularly difficult capture… The chicken burrito I ordered proved itself to be worthy, if not exactly what I was looking for. The chicken was nicely seasoned and cooked, as were the fajita vegetables nestled in next to it. And at $ 7 with unlimited toppings AND a free drink, it was a great value. The line, despite being super long, moved quickly, too. However, there were some drawbacks. I had asked for guac and sour cream in my burrito and there was hardly any guac and no sour cream to be found. There was, however, a ton of rice that tasted kind of strange. I can’t describe it, but I was not a fan. Also, the guy handing people their orders looked like he was stalking me like I stalk the perfect burrito. Not cool. I’d be back for some District Taco, but I’d take my burrito without rice. And the creepy staring.

Yum! District Taco has been drawing a crowd outside of my office on Crystal Drive for over a year so don’t ask why it took me a year to walk out there and try it because I have no idea… Okay, can someone say FRESH — I’ve only had the tacos(pollo & carnitas), the meat is always on point and the selections of fresh toppings is fantastic(CHORIZO!). I’m a ‘small appetite’ person and 2 tacos fills me up for lunch nicely. The taco’s are served on warm tortillas(soft only). The prices are great($ 5 for 2 tacos, $ 7 for 3). They also have burrito’s, they look massive to me though so I probably won’t be diving in on one of those. If you do decide to order one they come w/a free beverage. DT is also up at at ‘em early serving breakfast taco’s and burrito’s, I plan to eventually try will update after. Beware, the lunch line gets LONG fast and there’s only so much churning and burning you can do in that little cart so the wait for your food can inch up to 30 minutes pretty fast(the line to order is short its just the waiting that ensues afterward). I usually try to get out there by 11:15 if I can. I’m was craving DT this weekend and got Chipotle instead, I should’ve drove over to their(further away) brick & mortar spot to grub because their food is hands down better than the big chain’s. Enjoy!

Disappointed. Went to DT’s truck for lunch today in Crystal City and had a very poor experience. While I surely had it coming arriving shortly after 12, there’s no way you can justify waiting 40+ mins for food truck food. …and no, I’m not exaggerating, I really waited 40+ minutes(the better part of my lunch hour). When my burrito finally came, the pork was just terrible. It was fatty and had no flavor. I will note that a colleague of mine who got both pork and chicken agreed with me about the pork but said the chicken was MUCH better — so perhaps it was just a bad day for the pork. Overall though, I doubt I’ll go back. They get a second star from me for giving a free drink with burrito purchase and because they seemed like nice, very hardworking guys.

I could have sworn I’d already written a review about DT, but apparently I was in a chorizo/guac/pico de gallo-induced hallucination where I write Unilocal reviews. Anyway. Love. Delicious. DT was my first food truck experience, and can I say, I’ve tried a bunch and it’s still one of my favorites?! #1 — Value. The price is RIGHT at District Taco. If you don’t want a lot of food, you can get a little bit of food for a little bit of money. If you do want a lot of food, you can get it and it still won’t put you out more than $ 10. #2 — Free toppings. From my childhood, I knew there was no such thing as a free topping. «No Lindsey,» my mother would say at Baskin Robbins, «You can only get ONE topping.» WRONG, mother dearest! At District Taco, you can put whatever you want on your taco. More toppings than taco is the way to go. #3 — Fresh tasty food. Maybe this should be #1, but oh well. The tacos take a little while to prepare while you wait. This is because they cook your order fresh! No meat sitting around in a warmer waiting to be thrown on a tortilla. And it tastes good too. #4 — Breakfast tacos ALLDAYLONG. Need I say more? Didn’t think so.

Decent food and prices. Bonus points for accepting credit cards(yes!). I have only been here once so far and was overall pleased with my food(2 pork tacos), the salsa, and all of the available toppings. My one complaint is that the toppings and flour tortillas made these feel more like mini burritos than tacos. Anyway, the food was good and the service quick. I hope to return some time soon for the $ 7 burrito and drink combo with unlimited toppings.

I heart District Taco. Their standard of spicey is really spicey. I went at 11:20 and there was already a long line but got through in about 10 minutes. There’s jabaneros sauce in a cooler that I didn’t get but my coworkers are crying like little girls right now because of it. I will definitely go again. Two tacos for $ 5, three for $ 7.

I heard all the buzz about this place on Twitter, and was deighted to see the food truck convert to a restaurant within a mile of my house. Fresh ingredients — the pork was quite tasty. Choice of various salsas. Fresh jalapeños. Good value– now I have to decide between this and El Poblano. For both, parking can be a challenge, though.

These guys took a few months off to open their brick and mortar establishment, but they’re back! On Wednesday morning, their taco cart was on the Lynn Street sidewalk in Rosslyn. I had 2 egg and cheese tacos for $ 5 that came with free toppings(my picks were sauteed onions, pico de gallo, bacon, and sour cream). They were also serving lunch(it was around 10:30). They had carne asada(chicken) and carnitas(pork). One guy takes your order outside the cart and hands you a number while 2 chefs inside the cart prepare your food. It only took about 2 minutes for my tacos to be ready to devour. They were quite tasty. I was having a rough morning and these tacos hit the spot! Both salsas they give you had a nice little kick as well.

This Taco truck isn’t any more special than the next. The price is not bad for the food, but I cant say that i would go back. The chicken was very dry and had more of a burnt flavor than anything, the pork was more juicy and more tolerable to eat. I am a huge person on trying everything once and judging for your self, but i wouldn’t go out of my way to try this place out.

[for more, see my review on the arlington courthouse farmer’s market]. i experienced district taco for the first time at the COURTHOUSEFARMER’S MARKETONSATURDAYONLY — not at stuart street. but i assume it’s the same truck, same people, same food… sooo… it’s fantastic… TWOTHINGSTONOTE: 1) the line is for pick up, not to order. you order with the dude, they give you a number, THEN you wait to pick up. it’s great so you can roam about and come back when ur food is ready, especially if you’re at the farmers/antique market 2) if you are deciding between bacon or chorizo, get the chorizo!!! it’s crumbly and delicious and blends well with egg whites and jalapenos! the basic system: you order either egg whites or regular egg scramble, then add whatever you want from the long list of items: cheese, sour cream, jalapeño, pico de gallo, guacamole, raw onion, grilled onions, etc. at no extra charge! SOMUCHBETTER than pedro and vinny’s burrito stand: they dont do meat! $ 3 for one taco, $ 5 for 2, $ 7 for 3. 2 tacos was enough for me, and i’m a 5’1″ 127 lb asian girl.

Two very amiable brothers run this nomadic Taco Stand. Yesterday was their second time in Ballston and I hope they continue to come back(their Twitter page says they’ll return next Monday). The ordering process is not intimidating thanks to the help of the order takers and it also speeds up the orders by allowing the cook to focus on getting the food out asap. They take the time to explain to you all the options you can choose from and will even let you sample the food before you make a decision! Yesterday I sampled the pollo asada and had to have it. My friend and I ordered a few extra toppings with our pollo asada tacos but were still given the 2/$ 5 price even though I think we went over the free topping limit. While waiting for our food, the brothers took pride in their food in telling us about how their food is influenced from the region where their mother grew up and how they try to remain true to it, especially by making sure to marinade their meats overnight and deliver their tacos as fresh as possible. Their pride really shines through in their light, fluffy, warm tortilla tacos filled with savory goodness. If you’re up to it, add the habanero sauce for some kick so long as you don’t have a meeting half an hour later like I did.(It’s the least menacing habanero sauce I’ve ever had, save for mango habanero).
