I wish Time Out To Eat had more locations. I always crave their food! Everything is perfectly seasoned and taste amazing. The buffet is always fresh & includes free Naan. I have tried almost everything on the menu and have never been disappointed. If you have the opportunity to stop by this lovely gem, please do. I was only able to give 5 stars on Unilocal, but a more accurate rating would be 7 flames emojis. You will be glad you stopped by, Especially if you love spicy food-like I do

This place used to be amazing, but the quality has declined significantly. Tacos, cheeseburger, philly cheesesteak, chili hot dog all suck. Chicken over rice is ok.

When I went to school at stony I used to come here all the time. I didn’t realize what I was missing until I moved back to Queens. You get so much food for like 7 dollars while you get less here for double the price. The quality is really good as well.

Lunch buffet is terrible… most of the dishes(buffet) are chickens… didn’t taste good either.

Food and service was nice and sweet. Freshly baked garlic and cream naan is a hot. Price is reasonable. The food selection was huge, including lamb, chicken, vegetable and beans curry.

LOVETHISPLACE but one gripe. The food here is excellent and authentic tasting for the price. I always crave the somosa chaat and the chicken korma. The thing is though, I would take the orders to go. I came one night to eat in and was seated at a table knowing this would not be anywhere fancy. As soon as we sat down, we got up and called to take the food to go. The utensils were not properly washed with food crusted on the forks. I decided to overlook this and hope for the food to be clean since its so damn good. Nice people, good food, just take to go.

This is one of the most authentic desi food experience you can have in Suffolk. I love the food here and the people who run the place. I do have 2 complaints though, 1. The wait staff and manager are never around. If the food wasn’t as good, this place wouldn’t do well. They just don’t pay attention to the customers. 2. I don’t know if it’s just me, that I am allergic to something they use in the cooking, but I get really bad«GI issues» right after eating their food every time. Doesn’t stop me from going there again though. It’s that good lol

For the prices, quality, taste and option, i stick by this 5 star rating, as Time Out to Eat is an enormous success, this place is the most consistently Delicious and affordable Indian cuisine that I’ve found within Suffolk county. 7.60 for Tikki Masala, where else do you find that? Especially with the portions that these guys offer, its well worth the price and the drive to get a dish from this place, they also have a sit down buffet which is just incredible. 100% will return as frequently as possible.

Only tried chix over rice only several times. Tastes good and better than others around selden. I’m looking for something like Halal food in Manhattan. Lamb over rice or chicken over rice. Any recommend near selden?

Went here last night with wife and the food was so-so. Not a very authentic looking Pakistani restaurant but the food was not that great. We tried almost everything. Chana Masala: not good, the Naan and Seekh Kebabs: sort of good, Nehari: Horrible, lamb with rice: sort of good, Gourmet Burger: pretty good. The service was good and the people inside are very nice. But food is definitely a bit over-priced for being your typical New York City or Queens type Paki place. You can find much better ghetto Paki food in the city or Queens or Brooklyn and pay half the price. But this place is close to our house and the convenience of it is nice. Would not recommend this place to anybody and probably will never go here again. 03/25/15 – Received a response from the owner of this restaurant regarding my review from last night and apologized about the food and offered free food the next time we visit. Incredible response time by this person and I am very appreciative of that. We might go to this restaurant again but not for free food but excellent customer service.

Go for the amazing food and the friendliest owner you will ever meet. Mrs. H has unfailingly always made us feel so welcomed, acting as though we were family rather than customers whether at her original food truck or the restaurant. She also makes the best hot red sauce I have ever had. Ever. Time Out to Eat is hands down my pick for the best restaurant around. It is truly an incredible value for the quality and quantity of the food you get, we used to have to head into Manhattan to get anything close to what she serves… so happy it is now just a 15 minute drive away! We take out often and I always get the chicken over rice or lamb over rice — both are my absolute favorites. However, you really can’t go wrong as there is nothing on the menu I’ve ever tried that I didn’t like. My advice would be to try something you’ve never heard of; I can just about guarantee you will love it!

The food isn’t bad. But it’s good if you’re looking for cheap Indian food. I’ve never tried the buffet, but I’ve ordered the chicken tikka masala, which is a little runny rather than creamy and the chicken biryani, which wasn’t too bad. I enjoyed all my food, including the naan. There really isn’t a waiter, he just let us order, gave us a pitcher of water, came back with food, and then I never heard from him. In order to get my bill, I had to go upto the counter and wait for him. Overall this isn’t a place I would go on a date or anything, it’s more of a casual, non formal place to eat or get takeout.

Really clean and great food. Didn’t see any construction issues mentioned in previous posts. Platters are around 8 dollars and we did a lunch buffet on a Saturday and it was only 7.99. Not a ton of options(very small buffet) but really quality items. Everything was hot and fresh. They give you an entire pitcher of water which may seem trivial but its a huge pet peeve of mine when small restaurants don’t refill waters quickly. Nice fluffy hot naan bread and awesome Indian music videos playing on a TV. I was told they are building another restaurant in smith town and am pretty excited. Would give 5 stars if they had had chicken tikka masala, it’s my favorite and is usually a main stay at buffets. A platter was only 7.99 though so I could just get that instead of the buffet. Will be back.

Very homemade cooking style. Doesn’t taste rushed or assembly lined. Only been here a few times but so far very impressed with the authentic taste The naan was great. The chicken Korma had mild but good heat. I will most certainly be coming here again Prices are very reasonable

I stumbled upon this eatery during my junior year and it has now become one of my regular destinations for quality off-campus dining. The food here is of Pakistani and Indian origin and is really tasty. All of the meat from the lamb to the chicken are delicious. Some of my personal favorites include the Chicken Achari, Karahi Chicken, Karahi Goat, and the $ 6 combo lamb/chicken over rice. The buffet at this place is also very good and has a great variety of dishes. However, it is usually only available on weekends and occasionally throughout the week. The dinner buffet also starts at 5:30, which is too early for my taste. One of the delicacies you must try is the Sheer khurma. This dessert is made with vermicelli, milk, an assortment of nuts, and a bunch of other amazing ingredients. This stuff is liquid gold, and will put a smile on your face; I guarantee it. Besides the great food, the staff are very warm and friendly every time I show up; especially the Aunty who owns the restaurant. This place isn’t perfect, but I can’t really complain. This is one of the best eateries near Stony Brook University and is an absolute must try.

*****Cheap, Delicious, Huge Portions***** Five stars for chicken over rice in the ‘burbs. Extra credit for: -$ 7 chicken dishes with rice = more food than an average person should consume in a single setting. I do really wish they had a chicken chaat dish though. –Naan! –Masala fries!(basically just fries with masala seasoning, but for $ 2, I’m not complaining) –Samosas. Although it seems they are never the same price twice. Generally, this price seems to be going up. Regardless, still fairly cheap and good, so no complaints here. Also, I often get varying proportions of chicken, beef, and veggie samosas from my order. They are all delicious so its not a big deal to me as long as the total number is right, but if, say, you don’t eat meat, maybe double check the samosa order with them just to make sure they get it right so you don’t bite into something you don’t want. –Filling the void of cheap, interesting, and filling college food that the Stony Brook area is improving on but still relatively lacking. Just a short ride down Nichols from the uni. –Family owned small business — very nice people. –Interior is clean and nice enough… not sure what previous reviewers are complaining about. –Convenient for take-out – especially since its next to Taco Express. –Catering=Was a hit. Recommended. Great value for the area. FINALVERDICT: oh em gee chicken over rice in Suffolk. Pretty much everything else I’ve tried has been cheap and good. Great for take-out or inexpensive dining.

Pakistani and Indian style buffet for 8.99 $ during lunch hours. Perfect for big groups with plenty of seating and parking outdoors. They change up the buffet platters for dinner and lunch as I have been back for dinner too. Spicy chicken sandwich with masala fries is amazing and only $ 5 — comes off the express menu. Toasted bread with breaded chicken, mayo, diced cooked lettuce, shredded jalapeño peppers. Nice quickie and keeps you full. The cashier discounted my tax and i saved 0.43 $! Chicken and rice for $ 5 also to die for. Comparable if not better thant he 53rd halal chicken and rice. This was some good stuff and I am coming back for more. The owners and workers are very friendly and super eager in getting you to try their food.
