I took an eight-​hour long course on adult, child, and infant CPR, AED, and first aid for about $ 110, which seems to fall around the average price range for these types of courses. Luckily, it was a pretty gloomy day, so I didn’t feel too bad about spending a whole Sunday there. Our instructor was a lovely and helpful woman and she did her best to make the most out of a long, mostly lecture-​driven class. She said it was her first time teaching at this location. We also got thirty minutes for lunch, which pretty much flew by.
There were seven people total in our class; the small size helped ensure that the instructor gave each person individual attention and feedback. The hands-​on portion of the course was the most interesting part. We performed CPR and AED on both adult and infant mannequins. We also practiced bandaging each other up.
At the end, we took a few multiple choice tests (which we could retake if we failed, though everyone passed on the first try), received our certification cards, and walked out of there ready to take on the world! At least for two years, at which point we’ll need recertification.
