My husband, little boy and I ate here for brunch. The service was excellent and very attentive. We were very impressed with the variety of food options. They had ham, prime rib, bacon, sausage, Mac-n-cheese, green beans, homemade biscuits/gravy, scalloped potatoes, some sort of delicious chicken in a sauce, eggs, pizza, lasagna, brownies, carrot cake, cookies, cheese cake, bagels, salmon, chocolate fountain with variety of dippers, strawberry shortcake and so much more. Highly recommend it.

We are just checking out restaurants around where we live so walked into Paulo and Bill. I was immediately surprised how«fancy» the inside is considering its in a plaza with hair salons, liquor stores, etc. We decided to try their calamari as an appetizer and we weren’t too impressed. Nothing special and it was a little cold. I tried the Chef’s Trio which is a special they have on certain days and the Chef cooks three different entrees for one plate. It had fish, steak and shrimp. Beautifully presented but I thought it wasn’t anything special. The ingredients were high quality but tasted a bit bland and one tone. Overall, I just felt that the place wasn’t anything special especially for the price we pay.

Sunday brunch… Venturing out to enjoy a Sunday brunch today we found ourselves at Paulo and a Bills. We were able to get seated right away. We overheard several staff members state it was a slow day. Lucky for us I guess, no lines. The buffet style brunch is $ 20.95 for adults. With that you enjoy everything from lasagna, eggs benidict, french toast, fruit, pizza and more. The dessert area is pretty impressive and features a chocolate fountain. They also have cheesecake, brownies, carrot cake and other delectable delights. Overall pretty good selection but slightly overpriced for the food. Biscuits and cinnamon rolls were hard as a rock, which was disappointing.

We used to live close and enjoyed coming here for brunch on the weekend. I used to order their tomato soup, it was amazing every time! The atmosphere, the food, and the staff make this place a great place to bring family and friends.

I wasn’t sure about this place when a friend brought me here, but I was wrong! What I had was amazing! I had the Crab Cake(Great! not too much bread crumb) and the Pizza Classica(Pepperoni, Mushrooms and Whole Garlic Cloves — loved this) it was an Awesome pizza(I’ve been craving another ever since!). I’ve got it bookmarked!

I stopped on during happy hour on a Wednesday. The drink was a 4, the meal a 3, and the people an easy 5. This is one of those places where the people know and love the food and do such a great job emphasizing the quality and labor behind it. I got a simple spaghetti and meatballs, side of sausage, side of garlic bread. One of the reviews before this one is spot on. It’s obviously fresh, but lacking something in terms of spice. I agree that we should let the ingredients shine but there has to be some enhancement. I grew up watching my grandma expertly adding dashes of Italian spices to the Sunday sauce, so have some insight. Aside from that, the portions are very ample. I can’t say enough for the staff. The bartender, Angela, believes in this place 100%, and that made me like it too.

Great food and service. Very consistent quality. Have gotten to know the servers over time, so I’m guessing low turnover. It does take a while to prepare, so don’t think you are going for fast food. Great place for conversation, so bring someone you would like to talk to and leave the phone at home.

Great lasagna and salads. We used the restaurant for an off-site meeting and had them cater. The food was fresh and tasty. I highly recommend using them as caterers for an event. Next time we are in the area we will pay the restaurant a visit. The focaccia bread was particularly good. The meat lasagna had a good balance of red sauce, cheese and meat. The catering staff were friendly and accommodating.

ED S… we have been to brunch many times as well as evenings… in the past the servers seemed uninterested, so it has been refreshing to have Hadley as our server… we always sit at her area if possible

I pronounce this«Best Italian Food» in KC. Yeah, there’s a few other contenders, but nothing like Paulo and Bill. The Chicken Parm on fettuccine alfredo is so good, your face will probably fall off. Just fall right off. It’s that good. Yeah. I know. My wife always gets either something spicy or fish, and her face? Off. Just… off. They bring the servers out to sweep her amazed face off the ground and reattach it, but then she takes another bite, and there it goes again. I’m not trying to rip Peter Cetera off here, but no kidding, I am a man who will fight for Paulo and Bill’s honor. I’ll be the hero that… well, probably not that, because all I do is just sit and eat there and kind of look slovenly. I’ll save the heroics for someone who is thin and can’t finish an entire chicken parm w/fettuccine alfredo. Anyway, this is as serious as a John Travlota/Nic Cage movie, because the phyllo brownie? Face… Off. The wine list. Whoa, face off. And the coupons they send in the Val-Pack??? Half priced dinner faceoffohmyGodit’ssucharidiculousdeal. With a coupon, you can eat for less than you pay to go to the Westglen next door, and don’t give me any of that B & B Theaters garbage. It’s the Westglen same as the Willis Tower is still the Sear’s Tower. People c’mon. In my book, the only game in town that gives Paulo and Bills a run for their money is Osteria Il Centro, and as someone who lives in the Lenexa bubble, I’m not driving that far. If I want my pond walk in Sar Ko Par followed by my face falling off, I’m not driving downtown to do it. If you haven’t eaten here, you either need to immediately or are a crazy person and don’t like 80’s music. Or… puppies.

We’ve been going to Paulo and Bill pretty regularly for about two years now. The last few visits have been really, really disappointing. The food quality has really gone down. And that’s really a shame! We loved this place! We were here last about 2 weeks ago. My husband ordered the fish special, which was tuna, and it was raw. Legitimately raw. He had to send it back and thankfully they didn’t charge us for his plate. The crab cakes were mushy and burnt. The avocado they serve with them was brown. Yea, I know avocado turns brown with time, but not from kitchen to table. They plated it like that, which is totally unacceptable. You don’t send food out that’s gone bad. Not cool. Sigh. We won’t be going back in a hurry.

It does not get much better than Paulo & Bill for an upscale Italian experience. My only question is why they refuse to update their dry, stale-tasting bread. Otherwise, this place could be plopped down in any location in America and thrive. Their steak flatbread, which is nothing like your traditional flatbread, is out of this world. I shared that along with their chicken parm, which was likewise fabulous. Everyone else concurred that«we should go here more often» when we visit our parents in KC.

I love Italian food so it makes it difficult to go to an Italian restaurant and give a review of just ok. But based on the experience my boyfriend and I had — food, service, etc — I feel that it’s the best review that I can give. Well, nothing left to do but to get on with the review. Shall we? We came here on a Saturday evening after discovering that Barley’s had a near 40 minute wait. We decided to give Paulo & Bill a try(based on hunger and the previous Unilocal reviews). Luckily the wait was short and we were seated fairly quickly for a Saturday evening. Once seated it did take some time before we were able to order drinks — but I think that was more due to the fact that it was busy that night rather than anything to do with our waitress. Once we got our drinks(diet Coke for him Riesling for me); we had to wait yet again for the bread and for her to come and take our order. Once we got that out of the way… we finally settled in to eating dinner. The food, the best thing that I can say… is that while food was well cooked there was absolutely no true seasoning/flavor. I’m a fan of letting the food shine for itself… but there is something to be said for appropriate seasoning. I mean seriously, food at least some salt or something? I think I covered the flatbread pizza I ordered in pepper and that only helped somewhat. My boyfriend felt the same way with his Mushroom ravioli. It came with ‘spicy vokda sauce’ and both of us agreed that the meal was quite bland. It just needed something extra. The only(maybe) highlight for me was the bread they provided at the beginning of the meal — it was mostly fresh? Thankfully, true to some of my favorite Italian places they served the bread with Balsamic Vinegar and Olive Oil. Redeemed the meal somewhat. I really wanted to like this place, but overall was disappointed. There are point where I want to try coming back, specifically because they offer gluten free pasta. But I’m not sure if that’ll happen anytime soon. I really prefer my food having stronger flavors.
