I’m very happy with this restaurant. Good miso soup. I’ve only ordered the sushi(been there 3 times now), but I plan to try other menu items as well.

I’ll start with the staff: I’ve eaten there probably ½ dozen times. EVERYSINGLETIME the sushi chef is either on his phone already, or picks it up at some point while I’m in there. I’ve never been greeted by anyone other than the young female who usually cashiers. Food: I’ve only gotten sushi and always order take out. I’ve enjoyed it much. It’s good. Not great. A bit over priced but much is on Hall Road. Twice they’ve forgotten wasabi in the order. The Michigan and Dragon rolls are the best. The Philly roll rocks as well.

We eat here about once a month. The food is always good and the chef puts on a good show. The fried rice is the BEST anywhere! We had fried oysters and California rolls as an appetizer and they were super good. They have a ginger dressing on the salad that also will not dissapoint you. 3 dinners and 2 appetizers $ 82. $ 100. w/tip not bad for great food!

Delicious. If you don’t like the sushi here, you just don’t like sushi.

Food is really good, been coming here for years. Dear sushi chef, please put your phone away while at work. I did not enjoy listening to your phone ‘s text alerts through my entire meal. At least silence it so the customers don’t have to listen; it’s bad enough that we have to watch you on your phone in between making sushi. Not sure how sanitary that is; but it clearly lacks professionalism in the workplace. PUTYOURPHONEAWAYWHILEYOUAREONTHEJOBMAKINGMYFOOD

I called to place a take-out order and was put on hold for over 5 minutes. I called back and was told them, «I’m just calling back because I was on hold for over five minutes.» Response was a curt, «That’s because we’re busy» by one of the girls there. No apology out of courtesy or anything. I let her know if she’s so busy that I’d let her go take care of her customers and hung up. This was my experience of Volcano Sushi, ladies and gentlemen.

One of the best lunch spots in Macomb County, reasonably priced, high quality, tastes amazing. They have some great deals with a variety to choose from, typically very quick for lunch as well.

I just called and placed an order and was left on hold while she argued with some man. usually love this food but since when do they turn me down to deliver $ 20.00 of food because they have no driver wth??? I have spent a ton of money here and will now find a new place! If you do not have delivery then don’t say you do! Bad business! She told me to pick it up lol

The amount of sushi in a special roll was disappointing. Luckily I tried Age Tofu which was different and filling along with my Avocado Salad. All in all, tasty and fresh but not a rave compared to others I’ve frequented throughout. If this is the only sushi house in the area, then no doubt come here for the crave. Also, a tiny place as noted by others and a slightly awkward bar for single diners until the place fills up which was quickly at 7pm.

There’s an old saying of mine — «When you are so hungry, even miso soup hits the spot.» The wife & I, with baby daughter, popped by here for lunch one day recently, and we left satisfied. A cute, quiet little sushi place in a strip mall. Small & cozy space. Fogged out non-transparent windows and glossy plastic shades create a Japanese ambiance. The sushi chef looked pretty serious to me. The space felt clean, so we did not feel apprehensive to consume their raw goods! The one and only waitress — was friendly and on point. We got a couple of pick 2 roll lunch combos that cost about $ 7.50, including choice of miso soup or ginger salad. The miso soup was nice and cloudy with flavor, few green leaves in it, and the tiniest, cutest little tofu cubes if you look hard enough in the soup. Eh, who am I kidding, miso soup is miso soup. Something warm to excite your belly for the upcoming sushi!!! Our Super Duper roll was great(cooked salmon & eel), eel & avocado was very good as well. Spicy salmon roll — on point! Spicy tuna roll was a little salty from the curing of it, but nonetheless it was OK. We also got a special roll, the rainbow roll, which was about $ 10 or so. This roll was probably the best special roll to try some of their variety, sashimi style and since my wife is shellfish allergic, the rainbow roll looked to be one of the best to accommodate that. I inquired about smelt roe(massago), which I love on sushi. The waitress went and asked the chef, who said that unfortunately, a side of smelt roe would run about $ 5. I declined, and still the chef was so kind to sprinkle some, albeit a very small amount, of smelt roe all over our sushi. Our bill came to about $ 30 for lunch for the both of us. Overall, my wife & I gave this place a general favorable review. Probably a good choice for sushi if you live within 2 – 3 miles. Not chic, just a small, quaint, quiet place to eat sushi. The main downside, and fair warning, coming here with a large appetite(or group) could get pretty pricey, I did notice their overall prices run a few dollars more per item. The price tag was just barely permissible for the good quality & taste. However, coming here with an appetite and ordering many special rolls could easily run $ 20-$ 30 per person, which is a little ridiculous, especially considering the sushi leans smaller in size. We plan on venturing to two other popular places in the area, so keep your eyes peeled for those reviews.

I’m outside waiting for my friend to finish his cigarette. give me a minute. looked a little different on the outside but I wouldn’t judge a book by its cover. always give something new a chance. we’re walking inside being greeted in a friendly manner. small place but seems nice. 6 tables and a bar, so give that some food for thought as to the size of the establishment. just placed an order for Shrimp Tempora Roll and Alaskan Roll. menu & checklist delivered at table upon sitting. I’m not a sushi expert but this all seems a little fishy… the waitress is charging her phone on an unused table by the back kitchen. I’m wondering if she’s on Facebook at this point with some of the unusual faces she’s making at her phone. Darin(my friend im eating with) and myself were delivered chopsticks shortly after she caught me eyeing her phone activities. sushi was delivered and looks delicious! I’ll let you know my thoughts as eating and afterwards as well as any mishaps during, if any. all the rolls are delicious! my friend ordered the Dancing Eel Roll which I was skeptical of but it is quite delectable. the waitress came to our table once more to see if we needed anything which is always nice. waiting for the bill and will give the total and final thoughts in a second. the total came out to $ 23.15. I think it was worth it and my stomach agrees with me too. he also says after dining in and having a pleasant experience, that we will be back to indulge soon! thanks for a nice dinner Volcano!

I’m not a sushi expert by any means. I did try it for the first time earlier this year at a different sushi place and loved it, although I feared that I had the best already and I’d be disappointed with anything else. Volcano Sushi is in a shopping plaza, so it’s not a very big place. The décor inside is pretty plain and not incredibly inviting. I do have to say that the restaurant was pretty clean. My wife and I were greeted by a friendly waitress who promptly took our drink order. She had my Sapporo on the table pretty quickly. The atmosphere was pretty quiet overall considering this place was busy with a dinner-time crowd. Let’s talk about the sushi. My wife and I ordered the Spider Roll, Firecracker Roll and the Sweet Potato Roll. All of these rolls were pretty fantastic. I have to say that the Firecracker Roll was my favorite of the 3 we tried. I love my food spicy and delicious. The only thing I thought was weird was that the wasabi seemed pretty tame. I don’t know if it’s because I’ve had an obscene obsession with Sriracha lately, or the wasabi wasn’t that great. Seriously, I put Sriracha on effing everything… can’t help it. Also, the rolls seemed a bit on the small side. They were tightly wrapped and presented well. Our overall experience at Volcano Sushi was really good. We had the 3 rolls(which filled our bellies perfectly) and a couple drinks. Our bill was $ 34. I don’t think that’s unreasonable considering it’s pretty decent sushi. But, like I said, I’m no expert… and people usually don’t listen to me when I talk. Our service was great, the tables were clean, the meal wasn’t too expensive and I left with a full and happy belly. You should give this place a shot. Don’t do it for me, do it for your taste buds. ~ strik9

What is Unilocal all about it? Honest customers with honest reviews. After my 6 hours flight I was in the mood for some sushi so my friends took me here to get lunch. This sushi restaurant is fairly small inside with about 6 – 8 tables and 4 seats at the sushi bar. My girlfriends and I sat at the sushi bar and already filled 3 out of 4 seats. This place is incredibly cheap when I was looking at the menu. Their special rolls range from $ 8 – 13 a roll. Majority of the common rolls that you would get at other sushi restaurants was under $ 7 and under. SOCHEAP. We got about 5 rolls and to be honest, I didn’t like any of them :/Too much sauce on all of my rolls that I ended up drinking 3 cups of water. Too salty and plain fish. The rice wasn’t the right texture and the fish didn’t seem to be that fresh. Sorry Volcano Sushi, you are two stars in my book.

Service is good, but this place is a rip off. I do like it that they serve their sushi on cutting boards and they do have pretty good sushi. The flaw is that their sushi rolls are tiny! I ordered two rolls and my bill was $ 30! I was not even full. Let me remind you, I am a little Asian girl. I should be full after consuming $ 30 worth of food. I ordered the lobster roll and it was like 5 pieces. The lobster also had a strange taste to it. I also ordered the dancing dragon. This roll came with like 7 – 8 pieces. For the portion they give, this place is not worth it. I have never felt so ripped off in my life. & I have eaten at so many sushi establishments all over the U.S. I understand that sushi is a commodity here, but wow. For $ 30& then tip, I could of went to a five star restaurant and had a very nice meal by myself. Take your money elsewhere.

Love this place. Can’t beat the lunch special on rolls. Two rolls or three rolls plus soup or salad $ 7.50(2R) or $ 10.50(3R). Been here many times; never a bad experience. Wish the place was bigger.

The service was HORRIBLE but the food was good so i gave it a three stars. The server doesn’t know how to answer questions. When i asked how big the portion is for my sushi rolls, she kinda rolled her eyes and said«i don’t know». when my friend asked what are included in «sashmi box», she answered«it’s up to the chef to decide what to put in it today»…I was shocked how unprofessional she is as a server. If you don’t know what you are serving, maybe you shouldn’t work there. Let’s talk about the food. the fried tofu is pretty good. Crispy on the outside and tender inside. The sauce goes really well with the tofu. I ordered super duper roll and spicy california roll for my lunch. The super duper roll is amazing! It contains avocado which melt in my mouth. The spicy california roll is not bad either. I would consider to come back again for super duper roll if the service gets better.
