Happy Teriyaki Restaurant

I’m a bit Teriyaki fan. I’ve tried just about all the Teriyaki places in Mason County. Just gave Happy Teriyaki a try last night and I think it’s the best in the area. I only got takeout but I think Happy Teriyaki has the biggest portions, best food and best all around management. All the teriyaki places in the area have pretty similar prices.
Walking into Happy Teriyaki I was immediately greeted with incredibly appetizing aromas and a very nice lady behind the counter. I also found their place to be clean and well managed. I got a simple order of chicken teriyaki and orange chicken. The Orange chicken was the best I’ve had in the area and both dishes were excellent.
Really not too much to say other than this place is excellent and I will be back.

The photo of the menu is out of date as the prices have gone up a bit. This place is still quite good and there is value for the price. Everything we have seen looks quite good. We’ve only had the lunch special Chicken Terriyaki, which was excellent as was the service. In and out very quickly.

First of all, the food is way overpriced. Whoever created their menu clearly struggled with the concept of consumer value. My friend and I both ordered miso and they brought him a ²⁄₃ empty bowl while mine was entirely full (we both ordered a small). Their miso also didn’t have tofu, and their «vegetable» yakisoba was just noodles and cabbage. The noodles were also excessively coated with sauce, and grease was literally dripping off the ends of the noodles. My roommates «fried rice» came as just white rice with eggs in it. When it was time to leave, we waited 20 minutes before having to go up to the front and ask for our checks. Nothing about this restaurant strikes me as authentic, and I would not go back again.

Overall it was not a bad meal. I just wish that if they are going to ask you how spicy you want your food that the food delivered was at the desired spice level. I got a combo with kung pao chicken and gyoza for a bit over $ 10.
The food was ready in about 10 minutes and I was out the door. When I got to the hotel and dug in I found the gyoza had been deep fried and wish I had been given options to either have them steamed or pan fried. The kung pao was a combination of white and dark meat chicken which was not mentioned on the menu. I find that you either end up with dry white meat or underdone dark meat when they are cooked together and this was on the dry white meat side. As mentioned the order was very bland even though I had asked for medium spice level.
I’m not saying I wouldn’t give them a second chance but nothing wow’ed me about HT.
