We had a nice time at the Rolling Pin today. They’ve been open since September 2015. The site is across from the railroad station in the historic downtown. The owner was icing a birthday cake while we waited for our food. She and my mother-in-law had a pleasant discussion about the making of pie crust. I had a great reuben sandwich with vanilla and brown sugar-sweetened sauerkraut. My wife and her mom had bowls of potato soup and grilled cheese sandwiches. The bread is freshly made on site. The menu offerings were on a colorful chalkboard and the desserts stored in a glass display case. The young lady behind the counter was friendly and attentive. We enjoyed ourselves. My only negative comment: The soups were a bit too large when paired with a sandwich. A cup of soup would have been more appropriate. We left with desserts to go. The place is only 15 minutes from Massanutten. I encourage you to drop in.

This little Café hidden off the main street in Shenandoah is a special place. The owner, Theresa is the Chef/Cook and everything is homemade. The reviews posted here by other folks about the grill cheese are spot on… oh my goodness, it was the best grill cheese I’ve ever eaten. She makes it on her homemade bread with a couple of cheeses. It’s a must!!! And, be sure to make room for the coconut cream pie, it was so sinfully delicious. Theresa is so personable and makes sure you are satisfied with your food. I give it 5 stars because it deserves everyone! Do yourself a favor and stop by for lunch or dinner, you will be glad you did!

I was venturing the town with my husband and we came across this sweet treat. I ordered the grilled cheese with potato soup and my husband had the rueben. It was wonderfully made. The owner had such sweet southern charm, that made the trip there well worth it. She decorated the place with a rustic burlap theme. I loved her ideas and I know she puts the same thought into her food. The desserts were scrumious. We will come back again.

This place ia a hidden gem out in a small town thats definitely worth going to… everything here is made from scratch too… the potato soup has like a half pound of chopped in it and the grilled cheese on homemade bread if probably the best I have ever had. The reuben is also excellent!!! The menu is not huge but the quality of what is there is second to none! Shenandoah definitely needs places like this. The cakes and cookies are outstanding as well. Don’t miss this place if you are in the area!

Is there anything better than homemade grilled cheese and potato soup on a cold winter’s eve? There sure is! Letting someone else do the cooking! Homemade takes on a whole new meaning at the Rolling Pin, a quaint café in the heart of Shenandoah. I stopped by last to pick up a quick dinner. Amongst all the specials, I choose the grilled cheese and potato soup. Lovely buttery grilled cheese on home baked bread and a warm, creamy soup was just what I needed to warm my tummy and my spirits on a windy, frigid night. The owner as always was manning the booth and provided quick friendly service that is the norm at the Rolling Pin. And she even let me talk myself into a piece of cherry almond cake. The bakery case was full of cookies, cakes and fresh bread. These baked goods plus homemade soups, sandwiches including hamburgers plus wonderful daily specials make for a pretty special place. For a wonderful quick meal or afternoon treat, make sure you check out the Rolling Pin!
