After bourbon trailin for two days decided to change it up a bit and stop at the first winery we saw. First we check their website to make sure they made a couple dry reds, yup they did so we stopped in. Mary was our hostess at our first tasting. She definitely went above & beyond. Afterward we purchased the cab & a zin. Then that mid afternoon we decided to get a glass of our fav red and chat with others at the winery. While savoring the extraordinary red cab, I thanked the guy next to me for asking the server to switch out the regular tasting glass to a larger red wine glass. He then introduced himself, Brance, as the owner and next to him the master wine maker, Butch. We proceeded to chat over two glasses of wine! The energy and spirt of the owner & staff was noted. Brance was very passionate about his family, his business and the surrounding community. Hats off to this thriving winery and it’s team, it definitely warrants a stop!

We came in with a group of seven on Derby day. They have a Groupon for tastings for 6. You get to select 6 wines to sample and you get to keep your glass after the tasting. This is a more traditional winery, with grape wines and dry options(a lot of Kentucky wineries I have visited have been primarily sweet fruit wines, which I still love). The woman helping us with our tasting was very nice and friendly. She answered questions we had about the wines… though we didn’t have many. We really just wanted to drink some good wine and enjoy the day. So… goal achieved. It’s a little thing, but I liked the Goldfish crackers as a snacky palate cleanser. The tasting room was nice, with games to play(I got my butt kicked in Connect Four…) and they have a patio out back where you can enjoy a class of wine. All in all, a pretty great experience, close to Louisville(right across the street from the entrance to Bernheim), and a great kick off to our day of wine tasting!

Nice place with a kids room. Few good wines. Liked summer daze and a couple of sparkling.

I love wine and I drink a lot of it. Going to wineries and wine-tasting is one of my favorite things to do. With that being said, I found Forest Edge Winery in the middle of the road in every aspect– variety of wines, quality of wines, atmosphere, and customer service. Located in Clermont– just across the road from Berheim Forest, it is only a 30 minute drive from downtown Louisville. A beautiful area with loads of potential. The grapes are not grown here, so it is just a tasting room with a bar, tables, fireplace and gift shop. For $ 5 you get 6 tastings. Not a bad deal, but the tastings were tiny. I mean– really tiny. Just a sip. I enjoyed the pinot grigio, merlot and cabernet. Most of the other wine selections were sweet. The lady serving the wine was very nice but didn’t have much to say about the wines. The wine prices weren’t bad, but not not great either– $ 12-$ 30. I bought a bottle of the pinot grigio for $ 13. They do have events and live music there on most weekends, so it would be fun to go back on a Saturday evening.

We had a wine tasting last October. They took us in back and the guy who explained the wines was super knowledgable and friendly. The wines were delicious and we had a lot of fun.

I’m not going to pretend I have much of a palate for wines.(I mean I can tell the difference between $ 7.99 grocery store wines versus something with a little more quality.) This winery is very welcoming and had delicious sweeter wines. You can taste up to 4 wines for free. There is also plenty of seating room, a children’s play area, and very friendly folks at the wine area to make you feel more welcome to stay a while. If you’re looking for some wine to balance out your bourbon exploration, you’d do just fine to stop here and try some wine.

I have only been to one wine tasting before Forest Edge yesterday so that’s all I have it to compare it to. It was okay, but nothing like the first tasting at a competitor I went to a few months ago. The other one I went to gave us lessons, history and cool facts about each wine we tasted plus had more specials when you bought a bottle to take home. At Forest Edge, we picked ten and we tasted ten. We were told the name and basically the same thing that we could’ve read directly off of the list. We did get a tour of the back though so that was interesting. I’m not saying I wouldn’t go back, but I wasn’t WOWed like I was at the previous tasting I went to. Also, the girl who helped us was super friendly and patient with us while we had non-wine conversation with each other.

This winery has been here for 2 years. 4 Free wine tastings. I liked the winery but there was no history behind it. It felt more modern. The the quality of the wines were excellent, especially the red table wines. I purchased the Cabernet Sauvignon. Even the merlot was decent. It felt commercialize. I really liked the service, but it didn’t feel cozy and at home.

We visit various wineries throughout Missouri and our so thankful for the wineries in Bullitt County. I can’t recall ever sitting at a bar to do tastings, definitely not in Missouri. I love Forest Edge Winery

I bought the groupon for the wine tasting for four people. I had driven past the winery before but hadn’t been in for a tasting. I love wine tastings and figured it would make for a great girls day. The location is convenient being pretty close to I65 so while its outside of the city it’s still not too bad of a drive. The store/tasting area is very bright and nicely decorated with a large bar type area for tastings. We were each allowed to choose 10 wines to taste which is more than other winery’s I have been to. They had a pretty good selection ranging from dry to sweet. I generally prefer sweeter wines and they have plenty of them to try but I didn’t dislike anything I tasted. I even had a hard time deciding which ones I wanted to bring home. I think the most unique wine I tasted was the black cherry pomegranate. It was very good and I actually bought a bottle to share with my sister in law who loves anything pomegranate. The four of us also opted to buy glasses of wine to enjoy before driving back home. The tasting itself lasted maybe 45 minutes which seemed pretty standard. And to address the previous reviewers statement about there not being stools at the tasting bar that is true but every winery I’ve visited was the same in this respect. I’m sure somewhere there are ones that do have stools but they are certainly not the only one who does the tastings standing up. And really 45 minutes is not that long to stand. My only complaint is that the groupon did say there was a tour included but when we asked about it we were told nothing was going on in the winery at the time. I can’t complaint too much since the groupon was only 19 dollars for four of us so I definitely feel like I got my money’s worth. I would recommend Forest Edge to any wine lovers and even some who are on the fence about wine like one member of our group. They have a good variety and with a lot of sweet wines available most people who dislike wines because of the dryness factor can find plenty of sweeter wines that don’t taste dry at all!

After doing another wine tasting last summer, I decided I was due for another and bought a recent Groupon to Forest Edge Winery. The location is convenient to Louisville, as it is just off I-65 at the Clermont exit(before Jim Beam). We called in advance and no reservation was required, so we made our way to the winery one recent afternoon. We arrived and entered this nice facility. It is very clean and welcoming. The main area has a number of bar tables with stools, wine lining the walls, and a variety of cute decorations. The Groupon was for«tour and tasting and signature wine glasses.»(Now that I realize it, there was no tour involved.) We were kindly greeted when we arrived and stepped up to the bar to begin our tasting. Each person was given a menu to select 10 wines of our choosing.(There were probably 15 to choose from.) All but one win was available for tasting with the Groupon.(One specialty wine would cost $ 2 to taste.) After choosing your 10 wines, the employee started pouring them. She gave us crackers and water between types of wines to cleanse the palate. The wines were overall very delicious.(I ended up buying two bottles.) The employee was courteous. The experience wasn’t *bad*, but compared to the other tasting I have done in the area, I wasn’t super impressed. Again, the wine was good, but… there were no stools at the bar(so we felt awkward standing there and almost forced to make it a quick experience). It was not as interactive or as informative as we hoped; we felt it necessary to ask questions to make more of our experience. In other notes… It appeared they sold wine by the glass and in addition to the bottles you could buy. There were even a few friends sitting at a table drinking some wine. But for me, wine tasting is about the experience, and this experience lasted less than 30 minutes and wasn’t something I would do again. It was a good deal with the Groupon(I’m honestly not sure what the cost typically is.) and the wine was good, but if someone asks for my a recommendation, I’d recommend trying some place else(like Broad Run Vineyards). A decent spot to stop by if you’re in the area though(and perhaps if you’re doing something I didn’t that I’m not aware of).
