I had some business in Sherman I had to take care of. I booked this hotel excepting the best since it was a Hampton. Room was very clean. Hats off to room service. Nice large TV and had a fridge in the room. I needed to take a shower. Now the bad part. The water spray was so bad. I’m a big guy and I felt I wasn’t clean. I ended up having to take a bath to get the soap off. I travel a lot and this was the worst shower pressure I have ever seen. If I would of known I would of went to Walmart just down to street and would of changed the shower head. Candy machine took my money $ 1.50. The desk light did not work. The AC unit has a cover that rattled all night long. The pool was out of order. Not what I would call a Hampton. More like a Hotel 6 not like the $ 120 I paid for.

This place was great! Perfect experience at every turn. Stopped in late and found fresh cookies at the front desk. Got to the room and discovered the pillows were feather and so was the comforter. I asked if the pillows and sheets could be changed(I am very allergic) and it was done with no hassle and Ashley from the front desk even left a nice note of the night stand. Continental breakfast was great. Texas shaped waffles and sausage. What else could you need? Ashley and Amber really made this hotel stay worth the cost. Amazing customer service!

Unexpectedly, I ended up driving from Dallas to Kansas City… in bad weather. I made it to Sherman before conditions became so bad that I simply couldn’t continue. Perfect, as a loyal Hilton member, there is a Hampton in town! Rejoice. They had a few rooms left around 7:30pm on this Friday evening. The front desk manager, JT, got me checked in quickly. He was truly awesome — friendly, welcoming, and really made me feel in a better mood after my bad day and travel issues. My first room did smell like smoke, despite the fact that it shouldn’t have, but JT got me situated in a new room quickly, even meeting me at the elevator on my floor so I didn’t have to come all the way back down. Great guy. My room itself was comfortable and clean — typical Hampton Inn. The TV was large with plenty of channels, the beds were comfy, the wifi was free and fast. All was good. One fault of the hotel is certainly noise, and I have to knock them on this. Not only are the walls fairly thin, but the gaps in the door frames, both between the room and hallway and the rooms themselves(connecting room doors) were huge. You could hear everyone in the hallway. And, at 2am, I could hear the family in the room next to me as clear as if they were in my room. That kept me up for a solid 30 minutes before I finally put earplugs in. This is not acceptable. I left at 4:30am so did not experience breakfast.

This Hampton Inn has been recently updated and was of equal quality with the Holiday Inn Express with which it shares a parking lot. The previous reviewer’s experience differed from mine significantly. I found the lobby generic, but welcoming, and my room clean and comfortable. Breakfast, while not gourmet or cooked to order, seemed on par with a typical free hotel breakfast at a property of this caliber. It’s pretty much a toss up between this and the Holiday Inn Express; however, Hampton wins because of my Hilton Honors loyalty.
