Here’s why I won’t be back, up front and in bold: They make you tip at least 15% and stand over you and watch as you choose how much tip to give them. No amount of great service, food, or ambiance(all three only average at best) can make up for the feeling at the end of your meal at Mazatlan when you are forced to go up to the front counter and pay with your server watching which of the /mandatory/tip options you take. Assuming you pay by credit card, you’re being rushed, hovered over, and watched as you choose 15%, 20%, 25%, or Other. Now, when I pay on my own, without judgement, I usually tip around 18−20%. When I’m being watched, I really just want to drop this down to nothing. Shame and public humiliation are not good ways to earn repeat business. Honestly, food, décor, cleanliness, and service here are nothing to write home about. Certainly not enough to merit a detailed review of those elements of Mazatlan. Go to one of the other Mexican restaurants in the area and enjoy your meal shame-free. No little piggies. No houses blown over. Just no.

This is our local Mexican restaurant. We love the service and the food isn’t bad!!! The servers know us by name and are very attentive!!! The Cadillac and Killer margaritas are amazing!!! Love the chips and salsa too. Love all the variety of food choices!!!

I’ve been here twice and the service was good but the food was not. Their bean dip is runny and looks like it came out of a can. The rest of the food seems similarly low quality. I was not impressed.

We ordered chicken fajitas for two. DELICIOSO! I’m a wimp and I like mild salsa. After the waiter came to the table, I asked him, nicely, for some. We also needed refills on our drinks. It was truly 10 minutes before he came back. The saddest part of that story is, he was empty handed. When the food came, it was great. Never did get so a refill. I know this is all just in this visit but it’s kind of the way it is with the specific waiter we had.

Yummy food! The green chili verde has a slightly sweet, smoky flavor. Service was a little slow to take our order, but once we ordered, our food came out very quickly and was hot and delicious. I ordered the chicken enchiladas with green sauce and my husband got the pork chili verde burrito. The bill came to 18.00 $, very reasonable for a yummy mexican dinner.

We love love love the ‘fajitas for two’!!! The sauce/seasoning is our favorite, hands down. Eaten at many Mexican restaurants to try to find somewhere that might compare, but alas, NONE. The outdoor seating is a bit noisy but the restaurant is located on the corner of two main roads. It is fenced in so no worry about kids escaping. Eat here!!!

After being forgotten by our waitress at another restaurant we came here. My wife had two enchiladas and I had the bacon wrapped prawns covered in cheese. Our order was dilivered quickly and our meal was extremely good. The staff though friendly could smile a little more, but we came for the food and we were served with speed and deliciousness.

I’m from an agricultural city in central Washington with an abundance of tasty Mexican options and Mazatlan in Sherwood doesn’t disappoint me when I am in the mood for some delicious Mexican food! The service is very sweet and friendly, but the food is perfect! While it is a typical menu, with all the basic Mexican combos and favorites, the standard of the food and flavor is excellent. My husband, one-year-old daughter & I went to a last minute dinner when we arrived back into town on Mother’s Day Sunday, and we were taken back to a table immediately. I was even given a beautiful rose upon seating! They are very generous and always there to make sure if you need anything. I highly recommend Mazatlan in Sherwood! It’s our favorite :)

Garbage. It’s just another dime a dozen low quality Mexican restaurant with the same menu they all have. The guacamole is like light green mayonnaise. Their sauces, ala crema, el diabla are gross, not even close. Nasty cold lardy beans. I gave them a few tries, but they just can’t make it work. Save yourself the diarrhea.

Love the ala carte options. Tostada de ceviche, taco carne asada and homemade chile relleno are great. These items always hit the spot!

Ick. I’ve never had fajitas with a sweet almost teriyaki-like sauce. It was really gross and made us both feel ill. I’ve read the reviews about the service and actually I think they went above and beyond, so there’s that. Chips good; bean«dip» tasteless. We mixed in the salsa which helped a little. Seriously – the guac, the beans, the rice – everything was lacking salt, pepper, spice. Sangria was okay but too sweet – nothing new for sangria. It was more like«Oregonian» Mexican food, if you know what I mean. Kind of like the Olive Garden of Mexican food. Ugh, never again.

Being from LA, and growing up on the boarder of East LA, I was spoiled by an abundance of ethnic food. Food I found that I missed almost as much as my friends. And so far here in Oregon, the Vietnamese, Chinese, Korean, and Japanese restaurants were mediocre at best. So I have to admit after seeing 3 stars, I had my doubt’s. But unfortunately like most reviews on Unilocal, people concentrate on a single occasion of bad service instead of the food. Both of which I found stellar. I ordered the chili relleno burrito with chicken(can also have it with beef instead) it came with guacamole and sour cream on top with enchilada sauce. Everything tasted fresh and was abundant with flavor. Nothing was overpowering and you could taste each of the ingredients. The sauce tasted like a thick tortilla soup. The chili relleno was cooked perfectly. That and a soda came out to just under 10 bucks. The portion was large enough to leave me stuffed, and looks like I’ll be having leftovers for dinner tonight. Can’t wait to try this place again!

I have always enjoyed going here. My family and friends like to eat here when we have a group of people. I love the chips and salsa. The staff have always been really helpful and go out of their way to talk with us. The only thing that I don’t love is the refried beans

Great food! Always leave feeling satisfied with what I order. Always lots of food. Great service. Even on a Friday night didn’t have to wait very long for a table. They always bring chips and salsa when you are seated. Drinks are good.

We love this place. The salsa is very flavorful. Favorites are the Chili Colorado, Rice, Tortilla Soup, Carne Asada among others. I do agree with several posters about the Fajitas tasting like teriyaki sauce, so I don’t order Fajitas. Still, this beats most Mexican Restaurants in the SW county area.

No. Just no. Fajitas with a sweet teriyaki sauce? WHAT?!? Portions were huge on the platters, guacamole was average, vegetarian plate was very large, but the cheese in the enchiladas was tasteless, and the beans in the burrito were — well, that’s all there was in the burrito. We actually ate here because the sushi place next door wasn’t open for another hour, next time, I’ll wait the hour.
