First of all the Gumbo was excellent! The roux was perfect and there was plenty of shrimp as well as other ingredients. However, why on earth would they put a whole small hard shell crab in the gumbo? Crab meat yes, whole crab NO! Was that crab even big enough to be legal to catch? Don’t they realize when the crab cooks down and falls apart there are at least eight sharp-pointed appendages on a crab that fall off and disappear into the gumbo? Swallow one of those points and you’re going to have a bad day. Not to mention it is very un-appetizing to crunch down on a crab shell and have it splinter into a bunch of pieces you have to spit out! Leave the whole crab out! It is too small to get any meat out of it anyway, even if you had a shell cracker tool, which they do not provide. Also, there is a funky, nasty, dirty floor smell when you walk in the front door like the floor has not been really cleaned in a really long time. This is a really cool place in a cool part of town that has been restored into a great tourist district. Management just needs to pay attention to details and clean it up and leave the whole crabs out of the gumbo!

Tried to celebrate 21st anniversary. Drinks were over priced, crawfish étouffée was overspiced with heat. Bread Pudding dessert was great. Ryan the waiter runs all over the place but doesn’t really care about serving. Should have gone to Nicky’s or Noble Savage.

We went on a road trip, and we felt like we got a great Louisiana food experience without being too far out of our comfort zones(crawdads do not look like«our thing»). I had popcorn shrimp and catfish, and both were lightly crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. A friend has pecan chicken, which had an interesting spice on it. And we enjoyed the beans and rice sides. Service was pretty slow, but the place was hopping. There’s a story about the name of the restaurant inside the menu for when you get bored.

Killer food, stiff drinks and great management and bartenders. Their quality of seafood and local dishes are amazing, you can’t go wrong with anything on the menu. If you order a burger, you better be hungry or split it.

Walking down the streets of Shreveport I passed the Red River District. I saw the Blind Tiger restaurant and decided to go in for lunch. The wait stuff was friendly and helpful. After a detailed view to the menu I choose the Voodoo Shrimps as appetizer. They were dipped in a spicy cayenne pepper sauce and serve with an additional cool ranch dip. I’m sure, next time I came only for these awesome shrimps. For main course I had the Ribeye Steak with Dirty Rice and the Cajun Fried Corn. I ordered the steak medium rar but it coming out more to medium well, but it doesn’t matters. The steak was soft, with fine taste but even with too much fat. The waiting time for the appetizer was short, the main course come directly after I finished the shrimps. I prefer to have a couple of minutes between the dishes, so it was too fast. For a lunch break at working days it will be ok, but on Sunday… Collectively I like to say, a nice place to come in. I will be back for a second visit, May I try the Tiger Wings next. They were cached by my eyes also.

Bar tender was very friendly. Enjoyed the company. Ordered the blackened catfish with jambalaya side and enjoyed it very much. The blackened catfish was spicy, as advertised, but nothing to make me cry and I don’t eat really hot food on a regular basis.

This place was straight up wonderful! The wait staff was very engaging and helpful in making up my mind on what to eat. I had the voodoo shrimp appetizer and the ribeye with a side of gumbo. The bartender was super helpful in recommending what sides complimented the steak. First off, it would not break my heart if I was forced to live off nothing but voodoo shrimp. They’re perfectly fried shrimp with a wonderful buffalo/southern hot sauce type sauce and ranch dipping sauce. Now, I don’t normally condone dumping shrimp into ranch sauce, but it is simply amaze-balls. The ribeye I ordered medium rare and it came out more in the rare category. The bartender had no problems taking it to be put under the broiler for a couple of minutes for me. Good steak is hard to do, and the folks at Blind Tiger know how to make a good steak! I can’t wait to enjoy this place again! Side note — there are a couple of bars and casinos within walking distance of this place.

The concierge recommended this place instead of Ernest’s, and we knew when we walked in it wasn’t going to compete, but it was damned good. It would be like comparing a white-linen place with a TGI Friday’s as far as atmosphere, but the food was excellent at Blind Tiger, and far less expensive! I had a bowl of seafood gumbo which had an excellent roux, just the right amount of crab meat, shrimp and oysters, wasn’t overloaded with rice, and tasted like gumbo should taste! My wife had a fried shrimp plate, which had plenty of fried onion rings(pretty skinny rings, though), good french fries, slaw, and generally speaking, a great dish. Total bill, including one beer – under $ 39 and we were stuffed. Highly recommended,(But Ernest’s is still the best in town for fine dining!)

This place wasn’t bad but wasn’t that upscale either. I could see coming here on a lunch or after work on a Friday. The service was good, we were seated quickly and the waiter was really nice, busy, but nice. They have sports on and the atmosphere is really welcoming. Then there’s the food. The Etouffe appetizer was ok, but way too peppery. It wasnt spicy, it just felt like too much pepper. I couldnt really taste the crawfish. The potato fries were excellent and crunchy, the catfish poboy was great, but i found myself putting a lot of ketchup and hot sauce on it due to being so dry. The fish also isn’t in two big fillets but rather smaller pieces all positioned on the bread. The fried shrimp my girlfriend got were nicely fried as well. For desert, i had the bread pudding, and the sauce was really good. The apples and nuts were a great touch too. She had the brownie with icecream,…the brownie was pretty plain, but thats how she likes it. This place isn’t over the top fine dining, but rather a good spot for easy comfort food. The bill was about forty. I wouldnt mind coming back, but I’d feel inclined to see what else is out there. We ate here before going to the local casinos,…not dissapointed, but i feel they can do better.

We were seated quickly, ordered and had our food very fast. It was great, blackened sunfish and the pecan catfish. The waitresses constantly asked if we needed anything. No complaints whatsoever.

If you are looking for a authentic Louisiana meal, this is your place. The gumbo is fantastic. I’d also recommend a slice of cheesecake. That is if you can fit it in.

We had a great, authentic Louisiana lunch here during our road trip to Shreveport. The restaurant was clearly busy and buzzing with locals and tourist and the quality did not suffer. I had four refills of sweet tea & the craw-fish sampler was enough for two. Can’t wait to go back and try other dishes :)

JG score of 4.1÷10(+2 for food, +1 for atmosphere, 0 for price, 0.1 for only Diet Coke but a good take out cup, 0 for typical service and +1 for we would return) This was a good visit and a good meal… not the best we have had but still good. Our favorites were the Creole Pecan Catfish and the Seafood Gumbreaux. These stood out and were delicious. The fish texture and the mustard sauce taste of the Pecan Catfish were awesome. The roux of the gumbo was as good as original recipe advertised and I should add we really liked the taste and texture of the mini meat pies from the Cajun Sampler. Now, in the middle for us was the rest of the Cajun Sampler entrée we got also= the fried crawfish tails and Cajun corn on the cob, the étouffée, the jambalaya and the dirty rice… these were just okay. But, by far and away last were the fried pickles which were way to much pickle slice with sparse breading that just sloughed off into what you dipped it in something and the blackened catfish that was just not good and we just left it and did not finish it. The atmosphere was interesting. A lot of wood all around from the floor to the walls. Reading the history of the place from the menu you find that this building is over 150 yrs old and the name of the restaurant is from a prohibition term. The inside is LSU/Cajun décor and stained glass in areas esp around the bar. The bathroom entry is a tight squeeze and they have an interesting collection of autographs around the corner. For sheer age of the building, we will give it a +1. The price is fine for the food… the good food, but will easily go over &15. They only have Diet Coke and no Diet Dr Pepper but do give you this cool«Blind Tiger» take out plastic cup which is worth a little extra here. The service was friendly and typical… does take a while to get the food but that can be for a good reason too if it’s not fast food and actually with skill. We would easily go back sometime. That mustard sauce on the fish was really good!

History blah blah blah. Wasn’t there a blind Tiger at the 2015 U.S. Open? Shreveport is one of those cities where you walk past a business and don’t know if the open sign means the place is actually open or they were too lazy to turn the sign off The Blind Tiger is famous here. There is more fried food here than at the Texas State Fair. I had fried crab cakes, fried corn, and french fries on the same plate. Three flavors balanced perfectly in canola oil. Total bill was $ 25 K7’s «come baby come» came on the radio. 1+ star for replaying that high school masterpiece. 1+ more star for Ace of Base«it’s a beautiful life» playing as I walked away. Fresh seafood battered and fried. It’s a beautiful life indeed

Delicious crab cakes but the fried corn on the cob was more like deer corn… it maybe was from the bottom of the barrel. The other dish also had Corn but was delicious. We also ordered the Pecan crusted catfish and it was great! They give u hearty portions… you can definitely share between two. Our waitress was awesome. .really sweet. The Blind Tiger drink was all kinds of yummy… served in a big mason jar, it’ll get u when u least expect it!

It’s with a heavy heart that I write this… I used to LOVE this place. The food was good and CONSISTENT. Unfortunately, the cockroach infestation was enough to turn me away for good. I’m shocked not to read another comment on this as those things are EVERYWHERE. I know, it’s a food establishment and the critters are drawn to it, but I have never seen anything like it, even in places that weren’t far from caving in.

Good food and a really cool logo! Very interesting back story to this place. It is one of the oldest standing structures in Shreveport and it was a speak easy back in prohibition times. That’s where the name comes from actually, it was slang for a place you could get alcohol. Now it is a restaurant/bar and has some good food and desserts. The beer selection on draught isn’t very good, but they have a lot of local bottles which was cool. Good was good and plentiful and staff was friendly. The fried mushrooms are a must!

VODOOSHRIMP! WOW. I am dead serious… WOW! OUTOFTHISWORLD!!! The Shrimp in general at this place is top notch quality! They are fried, with not to much breading or overly cooked. They are very hearty, and meaty. Probably some of the best shrimp I have ever had. Since I got those as a appetizer I went with the shrimp Po boy for my main entrée and it was Fantastic as well. I LOVETHISPLACE! The Fuzzy Tiger drink in a mason jar was Incredible and my wife got the Bayou drink which was equally as great. My wife got the Mushroom burger, she loved it. I tried one of her fries, they are wedge fries which were really good. The only problem I saw, was management. My waitress brought out the wrong meal for my wife and she was so scared to take it back she told me she would just pay for it so the manager would not get mad… Okay, what the heck? So afraid to tell the manager about a mistake that you have to pay for it? MANAGEMENT… This is NOT right. Your employees should not be afraid of you. Other than that. This establishment ROCKS! LOVEIT will be back MANYTIMES!

Pretty extensive menu. I had the voodoo shrimp dinner which was quite good. I sampled a couple of the wing appetizers — not very spicy and a bit below average in general. Did enjoy a couple of local Abita brews though a bit surprised they were not on draft. Did chuckle at the beer pairing menu that suggested the proper Abita to order depending on what you are eating. I can’t say I actually went by those suggestions but it was fun to see it – something I cannot say I have seen anywhere else in my travels. Active but also easy to get a table somewhere around the 8:00PM hour during the week
