If anyone needs a therapist, I HIGHLY recommend Lynn Kawabe at the DBT center. She literally changed my life. She’s one of those people that you meet who just radiates joy and happiness because you can tell they have found their passion and are doing what they love. Like the ones that you meet and think, they were born to do this! She’s so genuine, kind, and worth every damn penny. I can’t promote her or thank her enough. Consultations are free– so go see for yourself. This place is wonderful and so is everyone I’ve encountered here.

Desperately in a search to find DBT help for my daughter, I was told to contact San Gabriel DBT. Today was my second call with a lady named Carrie(not sure of spelling). I ignored my feelings of feeling like she really didn’t want to be bothered with a intake or at least anyone who was asking questions about if insurance is accepted the first time I called(certainly should have followed my gut). Through my search I have since learned that insurance really won’t cover much in DBT. Which now had me calling back 4 of the DBT programs in the Los Angles area. I explained that I was calling back now to get a better feel of what I am looking at paying out of pocket. Seemed simple enough. I was told about 150.00 for a therapist and 85.00 for a group. The call could have ended there because I was given a ballpark price which is what I was looking for. My daughter is currently in a residential DBT facility and I’m preparing for her return. I also explained that we live rather close. Because I know the less stress I put my daughter through as far as even traveling the better. I was cut off and told that«well choosing a therapist based on price doesn’t guarantee she will be a good fit for a therapist at San Gabriel DBT within that price range. I then mentioned another DBT program so she could better understand my question and she cut me off again and said«yeah but would she be seeing a intern of a therapist»? The woman is just not nice, lacks compassion, and honestly if she’s in the mental health field id like to think she would have some mental health to show especially in dealing with children and their parents. Very sad that this place I will not bring my daughter to. Heard wonderful things about it from many people in DBT community. This is only a review of her, but if she’s who greets people I hope they locate someone a little more compassionate and kind. She almost laughed at the price of the other DBT program as if since they were lower in price that must mean she would see a intern. Funny thing is a therapist at San Gabriel works with the other DBT program I mentioned. Don’t mean to ramble, don’t even like giving reviews but this woman was just awful.
