I love this store. There is one employee there who is wonderful I talk to her like we have been friends for years. She makes my visits there better because I know I’ll get good customer service:)

Marshalls? I owe you an apology. Big time. I know I shouldn’t judge you by your friends, but a word to the wise: that disaster area Ross hanging around you all the time? Seriously bringing down your cachet. I realize maybe you just feel sorry for the poor slob and don’t want her to have to fly solo in those sad little discount strip malls, but you had me fooled into thinking you were more of the same — battered merchandise piled in heaps, stacked haphazardly on shelves, and hung with little care or attention to proper sorting. So you can imagine my surprise when, having a bit of time to kill, I wandered by and found you to be almost the opposite. Sure, you’re no fancy department store, but you were clean and well-lit and nicely decorated, and all your goods were on display in their proper places, looking pressed and attractive and possibly even like something I would buy. And while I couldn’t bring myself to wander back into your hanger-on Ross to compare the prices, yours were perfectly reasonable — and if they might have been a little higher, it was worth it not to have to deal with the rummage-sale mentality. Also? Totally loved the clean, well-designed dressing rooms with extra lighting and plenty of hanger space. Now *that’s* how you show off your merchandise. I’m not a big clothes shopper, but rest assured — I’ll be back.

Marshalls is more organized than Ross. The store seems to have a better selection of shoes and and it’s a little easier to find things. There are some pretty good values here you just have to be patient and look. Their security seems a little overzealous and less than helpful to the rest of the staff.

Marshalls is my go-to spot for whenever I’m between school conferences, doctors’ appts, etc… Time slips quietly by me as I lose myself in a world of clearance priced name brand everythings. Just as like Ross, they feature department store overstock, usually slashed by 50% and then they mark those items down systematically until they sell. I’ve bought cute lil’ sundresses there for $ 5 and luxurious bath towels for $ 4. Unlike Ross, the brands are more upscale, so the discount prices are slightly higher, and this eliminates some of the rabble that hangs around Ross. Also, the store is nicer, cleaner, and better staffed. It is the perfect place to find the right gift for your snobby MIL or pretentious boss…
