I’ve popped into Roadhouse a handful of times. It is a fairly small shop, but where it lacks in size it unfortunately doesn’t make up in quality… THEGOOD. –guys that work there have always been nice –listening station(just need to request the headshell/stylus) –more soul, r&b selection –lots of 45’s to dig through that are organized well THEBAD… –selection is minimal and at times quite poor –some of the prices are way out of line with the actual record value –came across several records that were borderline beaters NOT in the budget bins –in-between visits not much new stuff came in(months) Overall Roadhouse Oldies may be worth a visit for a first time goer, but not the kind of shop you can really frequent for a steady flow of new arrivals. With Joe’s Record Paradise right up the street with tons of records, this spot dwarfs in comparison.

Silver Spring NOW has over 3 places to get Used Cd’s and Vinyl, Only Roadhouse Oldies has all of this AND Vintage 45’s stacked easy to find. Went to get a 45 of a friends wedding song and spent an hour browsing and taking. Art, my favorite Oldies guru, Is there Saturday at 2. Roadhouse will also burn you a disk full of hard to find gems.

Right, so I love Go Go. And I love Motown. And I love soul. And I love old rock n’ roll. And I love people who really, really love this music too. Which is why I LOVE Roadhouse Oldies. Roadhouse is a small specialty music store that has an amazing selection of Oldies(and new Go Go)– on vinyl, tapes and CD’s. The folks who own and run the place are encyclopedic in their knowledge of the music they sell, and are incredibly generous in sharing their love and knowledge with anyone who asks. If you like funk, soul or old rock ‘n’ roll you owe it to yourself to get to this monument to music.
