I walked by this place and I had never seen one before so I decided to stop in and try it out because I love ice cream!!! This is not ice cream… This is like dipping dots that have been frozen too long. ALSO, nitrogen is not suppose to be ingested until it has been broken down; my boyfriend and our friend just left and we feel pretty weird. Like gassy but in a way that can’t be relieved. I’m not going to go back here again, and I wouldn’t recommend it– save your money and go to Frog or Brusters.

Subzero is a fun place for kids and the staff is very friendly. The ice cream is hit or miss for me. I always make sure to get the recommended combinations on the wall. If you make a custom combination it probably won’t be very good.

Such a fun place to learn a little about science and enjoy delicious ice cream. The employees were both young and made the experience extra fun for our five year old. Explaining how liquid nitrogen works to make the ice cream and a few extra experiments as well. It’s not the best ice cream ever, but it’s good and it’s an enjoyable outing!

I love the fact that you can make any flavor ice cream you can dream of. From ice cream to yogurt to custard and even lactose options, there’s something here for everyone. It’s really interesting to watch the whole process being made. I’ve been here a few times so far, and I always order something different. The quality of the ice cream is really good, homemade and is always tasty. Side note: if there is a bunch of ppl in front of you, you’re gonna be waiting for awhile, but it’s well worth the wait !!

The best ice-cream experience I’ve ever had. There is this really cute guy there that makes the best combinations. I think his name is Kyle. He has always been very nice. If you are adventurous and want to try something ask him. The Samoa combination is delicious!

Took the team of kids I coach here for an end of the season treat. They ALL enjoyed it as did the parents. The cost is rather on the pricey side; however, it’s not only the item, but the experience. The kids had a blast! They also learned a little bit of science while they enjoyed their treat. A family fun filled place where one can play with food and enjoy eating it– I am in and I think you & yours will too!

We went for a birthday party. We learned all about the science behind nitrogen and how to become scientist. The owner was engaging and motivated the 4 to 10 year olds at the party to love science. If I had a science teacher like that in school I would have learned so much. The ice cream and sorbets were both great. Looking forward to going again.

First time here. Came from T.O. to try it out and it did not disappoint. I had never had any ice cream prepared this way. I got the custard base and it was awesome. I thought the serving size was generous and the price was reasonable around $ 7 or so depending on how topping crazy you get. The service was great. The two young ladies that were there last night(9÷21÷15) seemed to really enjoy their job and were very polite and helpful. I feel bad I didn’t have a couple singles to throw in their tip jar.

This is the most pleasurable experience I have ever had. Sub Zero is such a wonderful restaurant. The person making our ice cream was Brook and she always had a smile for each customer, always talked to each person she was making ice cream for as though she were really interested in how their day was going and made really good ice cream. The place is very clean and the ice cream very fresh. I recommend this place if you want to have a real pleasurable experience. They make the ice cream and serve you so they really deserve a good tip.

ALWAYS an amazing time. Rob West(owner) is so great with the children! Today, The MOMS Club of Simi Valley– West had an Educational Science demonstration at the Sub Zero location on Madera Road. Every child(ages 2 – 10) was so excited and captivated by the experiments he performed. I definitely recommend Sub Zero to everyone. The atmosphere is great, and the employees are even better. Thank you Sub Zero!

I have gone through 3 sub zero rewards cards in less then a year. I have a problem. I get the exact same thing every time. Vanilla shake, with a TON of kitkat. The employees are always friendly and it’s nice to go out and get ice cream from time to time… or in my case, a lot of the time. The owner(or who I believe is the owner) sometimes is making it and always seems happy doing so. Always fun to go and always yummy. :)

This was the first time I came to this place and I brought my kids with me and wow it is amazing. They had so much fun watching them make the ice cream with the liquid nitrogen and all the smoke. If you take a look at my video that I posted with some of the pictures you’ll see exactly what I’m talking about. The ice cream actually came out pretty good as well, so no negative connotations on this place.

First let me say Kudos to the young men who were working there yesterday afternoon(4−18−15). We had the most rude, bad attitude, high maintenance men behind us who really gave them a hard time. They were complaining about the time it was going to take BUT it would have been a nightmare to have been behind them. With all their whining and rude comments they took 20 minutes to order. They were done though before the next group of folks came in. The employees stayed so nice and pleasant and helpful. I have no idea how they did it. I had seen Sub Zero on a Shark Tank repeat a few months ago and had bookmarked it here on Unilocal and was waiting to go for a special occasion. Yesterday was that day. The employee told us the ordering procedure and we were ready to go. I had asked someone I knew who had been here what she got and I went with her recommendation. Vanilla with Peanut Butter cups. My Brother in law had White chocolate with chocolate chips and my sister had Custard with blueberries. It was all fantastic. We all were deciding what we will have next time. I love that they have the different«bases» Which includes almond milk. I am going to have to try that. The time it took to make our order was fine. Goodness gracious who would think to complain about the time it takes(which is not long) to get fresh made ice cream. Heck if you want fast commercial stuff go to Rite Aid. So glad this place is relatively close I am going to have so much fun taking all my friends here. Super place, amazing product.

Too cool? OK, that wasa little corny considering these fine folks create frozen treats in front of your eyes using LN2, for those without the chemistry degree, that would be Liquid Nitrogen. Will defintely be returning to try more tasty treats, the place gets busy so you might plan ahead and expect a line most of the time. I tried the custard with brownie and it was awseome. Prices are pretty good for what you get and the kids will love the cloud as the magic happens.

The frozen yogurt is every bit as good as the entertainment value of watching it being made! We are in Simi Valley from out of town and stumbled on this fantastic place. The yogurt is incredibly good, the staff friendly and helpful — and even the owner came out and took pictures of us with a bowl of frozen liquid nitrogen, which looked really cool in the pictures. I love supporting small innovative businesses. I really hope they are successful expanding in SoCal, and hope that they someday bring SubZero up to the Bay Area.

Out with my SUPER-Special date again. This is our first time here — and certainly not the last. She had custard base with caramel, butterscotch, cookie dough and marshmallows. Good thing it was only a medium, still had to carry her out just short of a diabetic coma. I had ice cream base with amaretto and mocha, threw in some strawberries for good luck. Yum, what a treat! What a beautiful night… We’re coming back!

Fun with ice cream!!! Make any creation you can dream up! From frozen yogurt to ice cream and custard bases. Build into that whatever flavors or toppings you like and then watch the show as it’s custom made for you!!!

Sub Zero — the place where kids love to watch«ice cream» being made. This store is in a good location, near Target and Habit. Plenty of parking. The store itself is modern and clean. I’ve found all the offerings to be very tasty but sadly Sub Zero just doesn’t quite offer a modern desert experience. First off, the wait is almost always unacceptable, even when there is nobody in front of you in line. We’re talking 15+ minutes for a family of 4 to get a snack. That’s just far too long. If there are customers in front of you, it’s time to pitch a tent. 30+ minutes is easy to exceed. There have been numerous times I’ve watched people simply leave because they were annoyed by the wait. Deserts should be something enjoyable… not annoying. Also, the prices are on the high side for what you get. It’s easy to spend $ 25 – 30 for a family of 4. After you’ve spent the same amount for an entire meal at the Habit, it’s a bit of a sticker shock to pay that for desert only. Overall, Sub Zero is fun for kids(lots of excitement as the product is made) and it’s tasty. However, the prices and wait times make me believe this location won’t be in business for long.

I LOVE Sub Zero! I have been to the Rancho Cucamonga location a few times and they are pretty much the same. Nice but kind of slow service. Not really their fault as everything is created in front of your eyes and depending on how long you take to decide on each step and how frozen you want it, it can take a few minutes. I have had several of the bases and try to stick with the yogurt as I go crazy with flavors that you have no idea what the base was when you are done! I am amazed every time, so is my son, we take his friends here and they are blown away too, super fun and worth the money!

Great place for kids. What a clever idea to have your ice cream created before your eyes with the use of liquid nitrogen. When I walked in, I noticed the place was empty. I thought that was odd being that it was a hot Sunday afternoon. The concept is of course what drew me in. The ice cream tasted… like ice cream. But, yes, here comes the«but», it wasn’t as creamy as you would have expected. I ordered the small vanilla custard with strawberries and Oreos. The toppings, as explained were thoroughly mixed in there. The two staff were very helpful, and friendly. They alone deserve 5 stars.
