My family and I went here a few days ago and bought a handful of chocolates. The customer service was excellent, the woman there was warm and inviting, acting like almost like a doting grandparent. She explained all the fillings and was generous with samples of anything we were curious about. The chocolate itself was quality, especially the candied orange peel.

Fannie May used to be good in it’s heyday. When they made the candy in Skokie, you would walk in there and the smell was divine. Now, you walk in and the spot is still there where they used to make the candy and it’s dark and unused space. It’s is all processed elsewhere. The Pixies were my favorite until they cheapened it by putting pecan pieces and not the whole pecan in them. At $ 24.99/lb, give me the whole pecan please. They are overpriced for what they give, shrunk the pieces down to nothing. Let’s not mention the chocolate easter eggs they used to sell were the size of small oranges, not you are lucky if they are the size of a lime. My grandma bought those for my whole family at Easter. I was able to cut pieces off of it and make it last DAYS. Just not what I am used to. Still good, not great and definately not worth the price.

Trinidads and Mint Meltaways — yum-o! Trinidads are dark chocolate pieces covered in a toasted coconut shell, and Mint Meltaways are a combination of mint chocolate in the center, covered with a milk chocolate/creamy pastel shell. Both and creamy and delicious. Also, be on the lookout after holidays for special discounts and clearances. Their chocolates are oh-so-lovely and unpretentious! +Trinidads +Mint Meltaways

the old Fannie May is gone– for real. Had the chocolate Mays and both pieces had a chunk of sugar in the midle of the crème filling, the there is the saga of the elusive orange peel. Tried 5– yes FIVE times to purchase– they are always out. The lady said there is cult following or something wierd– maybe they are the orange peel bandits and they buy up the entire supply every day. So, heres my question– why do’t you just make more??? Dumber than dumb I think. Tried to contact corporate but they have no way to get in touch– the candy house is an empty house for me.

Free samples and usually a few specials. The staff has always been friendly. Their cappuccino truffles are little orgasms. All the fun without the hassles. However, be very careful eating mass amounts of chocolate may be orgasmic, but it will lead to weight gain unlike achieving the real thing. But hell, the chocolate is good, and it does bring me back to my childhood when going to the Fanny May store by our house meant getting the fancy pants candies. For the holidays it was always Fanny May and Roeser’s Bakery.
