Everybody loved the wedding cake! I was so happy to pick a local business for this special day. The cake is dense a moist and Dana out did herself with the flower decorations. The rest of the baked goods in the case looked fantastic so I’ll have to go back for those. :)

This is the only bakery around that would bake a cake that would work with all of my daughter’s allergies. Not only was it beautiful but it was absolutely delicious. You never would have known there was no dairy in it. Everyone kept asking me where I got it because it was so good. Thank you for making my daughter such a fabulous cake!

We recently discovered this little gem of a place when we moved to downtown Skokie. We had a gluten free cake made for our daughter’s christening… DELISH! Also, SUPERPRETTY. Their cupcakes are amazing, so is the quiche! Great coffee. But what I really appreciate most is the excellent customer service. I can’t wait to go back and try their soups!

Great sweets selection, great coffee, great staff. What more do you need? But really, it was amazing. We shared a flourless black bottom cupcake, slice of crocodile pie, and a cup of decaf. It was our first time here and it was great! I(k) was shocked at how many gluten free and paleo options they have alongside classics.

I had Dana make my son’s one year old birthday cale as well as his smash cake. Not only did it turn out much more beautiful than I expected, it was extremely tasty too! All our guest complimented on what a beautiful and unique cake it was and how yummy and moist the cake were too. I couldnt be happier and I highly recommend Sweety Pies!

Heeeey, do you guys notice a trend? Sweet Cakes in Wicker Park, then this place? I guess you can say I have a Sweet Addiction that is crippling and real. I love carbs so much you guys, I can never be fit, carbs are the best, you feel so full and sugary and jacked up and tired and moody and I should stop eating so many carbs. I am only kidding carbs, I love you. As long as places like this make delicious cinnamon buns and donuts I will be alright. They also have paleo muffins and when I eat them I often feel healthy af
Nice little sitting area, located in downtown Skokie.

The croissants are okay. Otherwise I’ve tried and strongly disliked the apple pie with streusel, quiche, scones, paleo muffins, and chai latte. Service is friendly and prompt. Inside there are a handful of tables(maybe 15 seats total), and the decorations are old-fashioned.

The owner(I assumed she was the owner) was super friendly and sweet. I ordered a soy caramel latte, bacon cheddar scone and brownie to go. The latte was a little sweet for my liking. The scone was so good, I devoured it while driving. The brownie was really good too… more fudgey than cakey which is what I prefer. The day before I stopped into the shop, my friend had shown me a picture of Minion cookies that were made at this shop. I was hoping to snag some. There was only one left and turns out the Minion cookies were made for a special order. If you want any design on a cookie you can let the owner know a week or so ahead of time and have it made! I would definitely send her a picture the next time I need unique cookies made.

This was my daughter’s first birthday cake. I can say that the cake was absolutely BEAUTIFUL and Dana did an amazing job and the design was exactly what I envisioned. Dana and her whole family are super nice. Unfortunately, I can’t give 5 stars. I really, really want to give 5 stars because of how amazing the design was but the cake itself was disappointing. It was a bit dry and the vanilla and chocolate flavors were not that flavorful. And the buttercream frosting tasted more buttery than anything else. While I know most people don’t like that cloyingly sweetness you get in a lot of buttercream frosting, this was just more butter. With the design itself, there were flecks of what looked like chocolate cake crumbs in the frosting. I had several guests comment that they thought it was flecks of vanilla bean and were looking forward to the flavor of the frosting. I also assumed the same. But again, the frosting tasted more like plain butter so it was just cake crumbs. However, the cake was still beautiful and if it was actually vanilla bean and it was actually flavorful, then it would have been even more amazing. Overall, I was just disappointed in the end because while it was a beautiful cake, for what I paid, I was expecting a more flavorful cake to match the beautiful design.

This place is ok. Went for coffee about two weeks ago. It was alright. Bought a salted caramel and blue raspberry macaron; again OK but didn’t knock me off my seat. A bit too sweet. Had a blueberry scone too but too spongy for my taste. Came for lunch today and service was OK at best. Had the kale lentil soup which was good and a slice of salami and something quiche. Quiche flavor… mediocre. Here is my disappointing experience: had their coconut cream cupcake. It was hard and cold I guess from being in a chilled section or cooler. It did not taste fresh, it tasted refrigerated. The flavor of the pastry cream was dynamite and I’m sure if it was at room temperature it would have been a game changer. Alas it wasn’t. Overall an OK spot but not enough to bring me back at this time. Cute shop though, nicely decorated and homey feel to it.

I was able to give Sweety Pies another chance at a Unilocal event that was held here a couple of years back. This bakery, located in Skokie, offers a breakfast menu, customized cupcakes/cookies/cakes, and coffee/tea. My initial experience was a disappointing one, as the bakery was closed during normal operating hours, and there wasn’t an update on their website or on their door(kind of a pet peeve of mine, as everyone is all about social media nowadays — giving a quick update for customers just takes a few seconds!); however, I was able to try their cupcakes, which happen to be all made on the premise; they were moist and pretty okay. The space is pretty cute, too, with a few chairs and tables to enjoy your dessert. It seems as if the custom cake orders are a huge thing for Sweety, which is cool to see. I would like to come back and try out their quiche, their other baked desserts, as well as their breakfast menu. +call ahead to confirm operating hours(!) +free parking on Lincoln

I like sweetie pies. I like the idea of going in there with a sweet tooth and coming out satisfied. I got cookies here for a cookie swap and everyone seemed to enjoy the merchandise. I do like how they are sensitive to allergies seeing that many of my friends have allergies to gluten or nuts, etc. Will continue to remember this place for future events.

Dana at Sweety Pies did an amazing job with our wedding cake last month! We were so pleased with the appearance and taste of the 4-layer beauty! Many compliments were dished out on wedding night and afterwards on the alternating layer vanilla and chocolate cake with pastry cream and cappuccino buttercream fillings. That sentence was a mouthful, wasn’t it? It all started with a thorough and thoughtful cake tasting at the shop. It was readily apparent that all the cake samples and frostings were freshly baked and made that day, in contrast to some of the other offerings I encountered when cake tasting. Dana’s passion for baking and food really stood out in her words and in her product. The planning process was super easy with Sweety Pies. I provided pictures and color samples to inspire Dana and left the rest in her hands. In the months leading up to the big day, Dana was responsive to both email and phone calls. A week before the wedding, I dropped off the cake toppers with her, so she could put the finishing touches on the cake when she delivered it to our venue. Bottom line: we couldn’t be happier with our wedding cake! Top notch job, D! We were thrilled to have Sweety Pies represent on our team of wedding vendors! P. S. Love that this bakery sells Paleo treats(brownies, muffins, granola). Woot!
