I absolutely love my hair everytime I leave. Robyn does such an amazing job and I am never disappointed! The atmosphere is amazingly friendly here. Definitely gained a customer for life :).

I went into Vixen for the first time yesterday because I got a groupon for full highlights, a cut and style and I was VERY impressed. I didn’t do much research so I was a little nervous but Robyn did an amazing job and it’s one of the best results I’ve ever had for blonde highlights, very natural and bright with no brassiness! I definitely intend on going back in the future!

I had my nails done here and was very disappointed with the service (gel polish similar to shellac) done by Raven. I’ve had several different kinds of nail services done in my life, maybe hundreds, and this is by far the worst I have ever experienced. She talked the entire time, which would normally be ok if she had been paying attention to doing her job right. She barely even filed my nails before starting, and she filed them crooked, also leaving hangnails and messy cuticles. THERE WAS STILL DIRT UNDER MY NAILS WHEN SHE STARTED APPLYING THE FIRST COAT OF POLISH. By the time she was all finished there were messy polish lines ALL over the edges of my skin and clumps on the under edge the nail. I asked her to fix all this and she attempted but didn’t even come close. To top it all off, she put lotion on my hands and barely rubbed it in enough. I would say her «massage» on each hand lasted a minute tops. What appalls me the most is that she charged me $ 40!!! I went to a little Asian salon the next day and paid $ 25 for the same service and got a perfect gel manicure. To be fair, I called the owner and she did offer to return my money, but she didn’t even ask why. If I was the owner of a new salon I would want to know the reasons for my customers dissatisfaction.

Okay I am shocked that I haven’t already written a review for Vixen and Ashley! I guess I forgot since I’m always chirping to people about my amazing stylist. So, overdue, I admit it…
I’ve been coming to Vixen for a year now, after moving to Solana Beach, I took to Unilocal!to find a local salon with good feedback. I called and was able to get in the same day and was thrilled. I loved my hair and stylist, Ashley scheduled my appointment and let me know that I’d receive 20% off my first visit, I was excited about this since I was having a cut, color and Keratin treatment. Ashley wasn’t my stylist on this visit, but when I called back a few months later, Josh, my original stylist was no longer at the salon. Ashley assisted with the appointment again and this time, she was my stylist.
I’ll admit, I love getting my hair done, I mean who doesn’t?! I have had amazing stylists over the past 25 years and I am so happy that I found Ashley! I am a sucker for a convenient location and esthetics mean a lot to me as well. The salon is clean and cute and I’ve seen the style and décor evolve over the year and it’s really coming together!
One of the best things about Ashley and what I’ve seen/​overheard from other stylists is honesty. if you request something that just won’t look good on you, she’ll give you her candid opinion and offer direction as to what will make you look and feel amazing. That means a lot, there are plenty of times when I have a hair brained idea (yes, pun intended ;) — about a drastic change, and I’ll admit, I’ve had other stylists who jumped at the chance to do something time consuming, über expensive and not necessarily flattering for me. Ashley is an artist and she has impeccable style. She is also really easy to talk to and I felt like I found a long lost friend the first time we met!

Ashley was my hair stylist when I booked for the first time. She did an amazing job on color and cut! It’s a small place but comfy and cozy. I will definitely be going back to her!

Love this Salon in Solana Beach! The ladies here are friendly and genuine. Eager to help and answer my concerns about my hair and YES this place offers waxing, facials and nail care. Ask for Raven she was extremely fast with my partial highlight they offer a wonderful color line called davines I’ve never been happier definitely returning!

Before Vixen Beauty Lounge… — My trusty stylist of 17 years said, «Yes of course you can have hair like JLO» — uhhh not by her skill… I had a total of two bleach processes and I think a total of two or three toning or color corrections. I went back 4 times to correct the «not even close» to JLO hair. I finally said– forget it!
I was talking (whining) to a gal about my hair just in casual conversation. She offered that I go see a gal she knows at Vixen Beauty Lounge in Solana Beach. I was like– uhhh that is too far for me. She said– actually with no traffic it is about 20 minutes. She said Ashley does GREAT HAIR!!! To be honest — everyone says that about their stylist– BUT, what had me wondering is this gal’s hair was BEAUTIFUL and I thought maybe our definition of great is close to the same.
So my daughter came back in town for Christmas Break while I was undergoing this fiasco. She arrived with her hair faded from that weird Fire Engine Red everyone was doing to a now faded purplish color. I did not know what could be done but I thought– maybe this Ashley gal could fix her hair. I knew I would not be sending her to my regular stylist after the Jennifer Lopez Disaster.!! — My daughter can write her own review (where she will accuse me of making her the guinea pig) but Ashley was able to take that color out somehow– «magic fairy hairdresser magic»!!!
Once I saw that i said ok– I will try her out.
Ashley Color corrected my hair~ ! Yes I will post my disaster pictures after cropping out my unhappy faces.
SOME KEY POINTS — Ashley is punctual — knowledgeable — friendly
You feel comfortable with her in the first 3 minutes of meeting her.
She delivered results better than I expected and her prices are affordable considering the area –I anticipated a higher price.
I drove to Solana Beach for my service from North Park. On that Saturday, there was no traffic. For these results — I would and will drive in traffic and I HATE TRAFFIC.
I am so happy I found her!
Oh and yes the salon is super cute ! If that is what is important to you — but for me THE SINGLE one, most important thing is THE RESULTS. Try her out for color correction especially if you are unhappy where you are going now –you will NOT be disappointed.

Love the magic that Ashley performed on my hair just in time for the Holidays. I travel to Southern Cali. 3 or 4 times a year from Florida and Ashley is the only person I trust with my hair.

Ashley fit me in to her day, did a beautiful job on my hair and was an absolute delight. I love the color and products she uses too.

Jen Joseph, the esthetician previously from Beauty Bundles in Carmel Valley, is wonderful. The soft wax treatment is really gentle on my sensitive skin and Jen’s skill is stellar.

I’ve been getting my hair done by Ashley for a few years now and followed her up to Vixen, her new salon. Ashley does a great job and I can happily say that I’ve never been happier with my hair color and cut. My color stays fantastic even when I have my next appointment and the cut is great. She’s also a very positive, friendly person to be around — so I always enjoy our appointments.

I has a fantastic experience at this cozy little salon. I love my color and cut! I haven’t felt this good about a hair experience in a long time… Ashley was wonderful and receptive with what I wanted to do with my hair. She was personable and easy to talk to. helps that she is a dog lover! Would recommend this salon to everyone. I also like that she sources the products to be eco friendly and even edible…

Well this is more than worth a follow up review for Vixen Salon. Ashley, the owner, was truly concerned about my nail experience review and we had a nice conversation.
This new review is for their new Esthetician, she is GREAT, just like Ashley said. Her name is Jenn. Jenn was, hmmm, not sure how to put it into words. I’ll try, but her expertise is something definitely worth trying!
She was gentle with the «unclogging» of my pores, she asked the right questions to choose the right scent/​essential oils for me,. That’s it, she a professional who sincerely knows how to customize the facial for you vs. giving «cookie cutter» facials. You know how some businesses go through the routine of the same exact motions for different people?! Jenn is someone who does what works for you! I’ll definitely go back!

The facial was so good I left feeling 10 years younger and the massage with facial relaxed me so much I felt 10 pounds lighter!

I just moved back to the area and my old «go to» girl was not at the salon she used to be at. I found Ashley through the groupon offer for the Brazillian Blowout, and that alone was an amazing experience! Ashley told me about the classes they were going to be hosting and the special model pricing for attending these classes because she knew I liked to do fun things with my hair. I booked one of these model classes for a cut and color. Unfortunately, the stylist who was going to be doing my service had called in for that day, but Ashley emailed me and asked if I still wanted to come but a little later and she would do my service still at the model price. First off, it was great of her to offer this. Second, I have never had such a good experience at a salon. It was really nice, we were the only people in the salon because it was 6pm, but she took such amazing care of me, knew exactly what I was trying to describe for my cut and color with my horrible descriptions and the outcome is just gorgeous. I absolutely love it! Not to mention we had great conversation. Ashley is DEFINITELY my new «go to» girl in San Diego!

Absolutely love this salon! Just had my colored and cut by alicia. She totally listened to what I wanted. I went from a brown with a hint of red to a deep bright red. She explained that it was going to be a big change to make sure I knew what I was asking for. Then she colored my hair to perfection! Cut came out fantastic also. Great layers and bangs that compliment my face shape. And great conversation, all the stylist were so much fun to talk to. I felt like I was in «Truvys» the salon from steel magnolias. Totally fun and there’s some very talented stylist here.

This salon is such a cute, inviting hidden gem. I regularly get my hair cut by Ashley (who is totally fab) and recently had a manicure by Alicia. It was so relaxing and the products were great, plus she was friendly and gave a wonderful hand massage. I will definitely be returning.

Vixen beauty lounge is such a little gem. I started going to see Ashley and followed her over to her new location in Solana Beach. Everyone at Vixen is so professional and take care of you the moment you walk in. I feel like I’m in good hands when I go and I have the biggest trust when it comes to Ashley doing my hair. She truly takes care of every inch of your hair and has such a good sense of your personality and what fits best for you. Coming from having a lot of friends in the industry, I truly know how it feels when someone cares about you and how your hair is going to turn out, and Ashley is just that one of a kind person who truly loves what she does and it shows through her work. I can’t express enough how much I appreciate her and all the staff of Vixen beauty lounge, such a fun environment that treats you likes it’s your day to indulge and take care of YOU. I’m new to the area and don’t have a «go to» person/​salon in San Diego. I called and booked an appointment with Ashley. She came in on a Sunday and did a Brazilian Blowout, color, and trimmed my hair.
She was so awesome. Very friendly. Had a good feeling about getting my hair done by her just from our couple of phone conversations before the appointment. Had such a wonderful experience in the salon, was so pleased with how my hair turned out! I didn’t leave a review right away because I wanted to make sure the results lasted. And they have!
First off, I have VERY stubborn gray hair that LOVES to grow right at my bangs. Every time I have had it professionally colored, it’s turned brassy orange within a few days. Sometimes it just comes out brassy (my stubborn grays only) Well, Not this time!!! My hair color has stayed the same since the day she colored it! This alone means so much to me!
As for the trim, exactly that, a trim. :)
And for the Brazilian, My hair is so silky and smooth. My curls don’t frizz up, and it’s so fuss free now. I had turned to just putting my hair in a bun instead of dealing with it, not anymore!
