Outstanding! Just like an old-time barbershop. The barbers really take pride in their work and the conversation is fun and easy. Everybody who comes and goes seems to know each other on a first name basis. I certainly will make myself a regular at Carl’s. They also are very accommodating with children.

Love this place! Old school, great dudes giving great cuts and shaves. Hot foam cleanup after every cut and you’ll be looking stellar.

Went in for my first straight shave today and had a great experience. It’s a traditional barber shop for men. I’m sure they take kids, but tonight it was just men. Cool vibe, mature conversation and solid barbering. I wanted a shot of whiskey and a cigar, but that may be a little too Clint Eastwood. I’ll be back.

The staff are friendly. That’s about all this place had going for it. Got a haircut here. My hair isn’t too difficult. Told the barber I wanted a 5 on the sides and a trim on the tip. He took clippers to the sides without the 5 guard, just a comb, and I figured he knew what he was doing. Couldn’t be more wrong. The sides looked sloppy. As for the trim on the top, he left a bit much in the center, think mole hill. Asked for him to take it down a bit more, and he did, but still get the shape right. He also cut too much off over my ears, happened too quickly for me to say something. Like I said, my hair isn’t too complicated. I walked out with some shorter hair that looked like it was cut with the dullest blades you could find. Needless to say, I searched elsewhere for my next cut. I really wanted this to be my new place as I just moved back to the area and it’s close to home.

Good old fashioned barber shop, most of the guys that cut the hair are younger so they understand the styles a bit better then the old timers. I would have liked my beard trim/shave a bit tighter up to my jaw line, but none the less a good job.

So my dad has been going here for years and he still loves it to this very day. One thing I have gotten him as a gift is 6 months worth of free cuts.(He loves this even more :) Something I recommend for sure! One thing I always notice is how small-town this business is. It’s a true mom-and-pop place with the personality of a local barber shop. Always clean, always friendly, I will never have no problem going here with my dad. I just had to update this because I know how much my dad loves going here.

My son’s cut was so bad that I thought my wife was going to faint when she saw it. Seriously, it was almost like the guy cutting it messed it up on purpose. He also argued with me about it, saying it was my fault because I had asked for that sort of cut(best described as «bowl»). I was told by the barber that next time I should just«ask for a regular boys cut»(which, in fact, is what I thought we were getting as all I had said was something like«trim it up a bit… it’s just too long and we need to neaten him up»). Until then I hadn’t realized that a decent hair cut could only be accomplished by me uttering a specific phrase. All we wanted was a decent cut and a place we could call«our barbershop». Carl’s failed us and frankly the generic chain stores of the world, bland as their cuts are, could do a better job.

If you read my other review on Carl’s you would probably wonder why I would return. I was in a jam and needed to get a trim fast. This choice turned into a total nightmare. This guy chewed my hair off so bad. After asking him to fix it twice I realized there was no hope. I left and went to another barber shop to get it all cleaned up. It was the worst haricut I ever had. I have an idea. How about the workers stop trying to act like mafia Italians and learn to cut hair?

This place is great! One of the last bastion’s of old school simplicity. I love it! I bring my kids there, my wife brings them there and love’s it too. They love diggin’ into the sucker jar and gumball jars. I even bought Christmas gifts from their Clubman selection that are a hit with the more senior men of our family. For several years now, Carl’s has donated haircut certificates to our annual youth sports golf outing. The winner’s of the certificate’s have raved to me about Carl’s as well their thanks for giving them a «step back in time» opportunity. Just don’t ask Jimmy to play the Ukulele! He gets a bit carried away.

Carl’s is a great barbershop that has been around forever. Great place to bring the kids for thier first cut. The guys are great and the price is always more than fair. Get there early!

Outstanding barbershop! Great barbers, fun character customers, and straight razor shaves. You can’t beat this place. It’s a shame when I travel I have trouble finding a place as good as Carl’s. Carl has since retired, but the new generation keeps the same great barbershop going, and Carl’s brother still part times. Haircut at $ 14(June 2011). Get there early on a Saturday as the wait list can grow long. Don’t worry there’s plenty of magazines and local paper’s in the waiting area, and a new ATSCHDTV. Kid’s still get bubble gum or lollipops. I’ve even bought gift certificates at Christmas in this Solon gem.
