I’ve been in this pet store a few times and wasn’t ever impressed. It’s dirty, cramped, and just seems ill cared for. There are animals for sale in the back of the store, mostly small rodents and reptiles. The prices are a bit high for standard type pet accessories.

We’ve been thinking about getting a cockatiel for a while now and we finally decided to go ahead with it. I heard about a place called«Bird Paradise» which is about an hour and a half away but decided to try this place because it’s close and I love to patronize local, smaller establishments. Unfortunately, no good deed goes unpunished. We walked in and as we walk down the aisle, a taller, scruffy man asks us if we need help. My friend responds with«no, thanks» and as the gentleman continues to walk bye, he remarks«that’ll be five dollars,» presumably in a joking manner. Neither one of us responded because he had already walked by and was already down the aisle. I actually didn’t even know he was talking to us until I processed his unnecessary comment. Well, apparently he took this as us ignoring him and makes the remark, «guess it’s not funny» to several other shoppers both in front and within earshot. I immediately thought this was incredibly rude however the person I was with decided to go ask about the birds anyway. We walked up to the counter where the same gentleman was and he proceeded to ignore us until my friend asks about the cockatiels. Can anyone guess what his response was? He said, in a condescending manner, «oh well I actually just finished mopping back there but if you guys wanna go back there(and mess everything up) go ahead.» Now, if this isn’t appalling service, nothing is. I find it hard to believe how a small pet shop can expect to succeed with this level of disrespect toward a customer coming in ready to spend upwards of $ 150 for the bird alone, let alone all the other stuff including cage, etc. I sure hope the owner of this business reads this review and if the man who behaved this way toward us was himself the owner, well, then that just goes to show how deep the disregard for the customer goes. Thusly, we are now on our way to Bird Paradise in Burlington, NJ, a whole hour and a half away, to patronize another, better business. Thanks, New World! I’ll be sure to tell EVERYONE.
