Allston Piano Moving, a Division of Gentle Giant

After getting a couple quotes, I chose Allston Piano Moving because they’re the only ones I’ve found who specialize in moving pianos but were also very communicative over email, and the price was pretty average. The first available date was a couple weeks out, and a few days before the move, someone emailed me to confirm our appointment. They gave me a two-​hour window, and they called me 30 minutes before arriving telling me that they were on their way.
Three gentlemen showed up and moved our piano from our living room to the basement. These guys are PROS. But on top of that, they were efficient and had a great sense of humor. The way they communicated to each other and worked to figure out the best way to move the piano gave me lots of confidence that they were really experienced and skilled. I’m so happy with the service we got and highly recommend them!

I’ve had my daughter’s Janssen upright moved at least twice. The movers from Allston Piano were terrific! Patrick, Brayden, and Azuolas did a fantastic, efficient and professional job. They were in and out of my two-​story duplex in 20 minutes and arrived and delivered the piano to my third floor apartment all in one-​hour flat. They were quiet too! I commented to them that it sounded like they flew down the stairs and out the door.
For me, Allston Piano is the only choice for moving our treasured instrument.

Way too expensive. I asked for a quote and it was $ 200 more than other companies.

I’ve had my grand piano moved on multiple occasions these past 10 years — once even across country! It’s a very large, heavy baby grand that I can barely lift even a corner by myself. I made a huge mistake when I moved it across country relying on regular movers to move it. They tried to muscle it and ended up dropping it — worst experience ever!
Allston Piano Movers were the complete opposite. Not only were they extremely professional (showed up on time, very courteous and friendly, etc.), but most importantly they knew exactly what they were doing. Wrapped up the piano perfectly so there would be no dings or scratches, carefully removed the legs and other appendage, and even replaced the pins for the hinges that were horribly bent. Best piano moving experience ever!
If you care anything for your piano (which you must otherwise you would not be moving it), pay the price to get it done right or you’ll pay the price for it later.

I was looking for a piano mover for an old piano that didn’t have a high dollar value. I called several places. With the other companies, there was confusion about price, mileage, what extra costs were involved and the quotes were kept open.
The quote I got from Allston was more than I had thought to spend, but in the end, the phone service was so professional and the guys were awesome, friendly, can-​do kind of guys. I was really happy with my experience and would use them again and recommend them to anyone looking to move a piano. They treated our new (old) piano like it was worth a million bucks!
