The value of this restaurant is hard to overstate. The food is good, but not exceptional, it has a home cooked feeling to it. So it’s not where you want to go if you’re looking for an extraordinary cullinary experience(Bergamot would be better suited). However, if you want a decent meal at an excelent value, this place is about as good as it gets in Somerville. Recently we ate there(2 adults and a child) for $ 32 + tip. That was for the daily special for two($ 23) which had popovers and butter(these stood out, and are truly exceptional, so soft and hot on the inside), soup(corn chowder, quite nice), a rotating entrée of the day(we had roast beef on a Saturday), two sides, and a desert(custard or ice cream). We also had a $ 3 pint of beer and our daughter had a four dollar childs menu item that turned out to be an adult sized(at least at most restaurants) plate of ravioli and a dish of ice cream at the end.

Loved it and can’t wait to come back! An old school restaurant in terms of décor, comfort food etc. and I mean that in the best way possible. Came in for lunch and got the chicken pot pie special — it was fantastic! Dinner apparently comes with popovers so we will definitely be back. Our waitress Penny was awesome too! We will ask for her again!

Had two hungry teenagers who desperately wanted lobster while on vacation in Boston. Twin lobster special? We’ll try it! they were in heaven with their bibs on, fingers dripping with butter and lobster. We had some other tasty items off the menu. Very nice service, good atmosphere, homey food. It was like restaurants we went to as kids, with our families. LOVELY!

First time here at this establishment. I must say I was very impressed with the food and customer service. Every thing was on point. For a side street pub, it comes with great vigor and hospitality. Very secluded and calm environment. I will definitely recommend it for a nice lunch or even dinner, depending on what your up for.

My parents and I had an amazing brunch. On the weekends, they have a buffet($ 20/person) for brunch. We were a little disappointed that none of the food items were labeled for he buffet. The breakfast items were the best(French toast, pancakes, sausage, bacon). The lunch items included cocktail shrimp, raw oysters, seafood pasta, macaroni, and ravioli. They also have an assortment of fruits and pastries. Drinks are the best and reasonably priced($ 8/martini).

Not a fancy place as far as food or atmosphere, but the prices and the food are pretty good. The lobster special is pretty solid value and the portions are large. The bartender was very friendly and quick. If looking for a casual, decent, reasonably priced meal then this is the place.

It’s a family-run restaurant with great servers and a solid bar crowd. It’s big enough to throw a party, yet laid back enough to bring your kids. If you’re a lobster fan, you’re not going to find a better deal in the Boston metro area! Everything food item is fresh and made in the traditional way. It’s old school comfort food including sandwiches and burgers. You can’t beat the fresh, made on site popovers that arrive shortly after you sit down. They are also great toasted the next day for breakfast if you don’t scarf them all down.

The 2 lobster special for 19.99 was the best value of our trip, especially when you consider that most places charge that much for a half pound lobster roll! These lobsters were big too. We were stuffed. The clam chowder was a bit salty but overall Mount Vernon gets 4 stars.

This is my 5th time having twin lobsters here. Hav to say it’s never disappointed me in any aspect. It always tastes fresh and delicious. And the waitress here is really friendly and considerate. It’s not like a fancy steakhouse but a family style seafood restaurant. Will definitely come again and bring my friends here to try the famous TWINLOBSTERS. Love it!

First was the bread, very unique like an exploding muffin, very moist, although it seemed like it could cook for a little longer. Two lobsters in one dish? How can you go wrong. Boiled to perfection, no additional flavors except for the lobster and the ocean. That is all the dish comes with. The clam chowder soup had lots of clams, but was more on watery, less on the chunky side. It was okay. Clams, cooked with garlic, these are some big clams. They even leave the clam broth for you, although it was a tad bit salty.

Labeling this place a «steakhouse» is gross overstatement. At best, it’s a dingy little dive with frosty bartenders and mediocre Italian food. I was not impressed. My whiskey and lasagna were the same temperature and the booze had far more flavor. The only plus, it’s cheap and nearby.

I only wish zero stars was an option. Easily the worst dining experience of recent memory. Service was horrible: 10 minutes after being seated — no service, no water, no bread basket. Waited for over 45 mins. for four steamed lobsters brought out after I made my way back to the kitchen — no waitress to be found the entire wait time. But wait, this is the good part. After the meal I spoke with the manager. His rudeness and argumentative tone was really the icing on the cake. 2 beers, 2 sodas, 2(2 lobster) plates, 1 order fried clams and 1 order mozzarella sticks, awful service and attitude from the manager — $ 110.00. What a deal– a raw deal.

This place really surprised me, in a really good way. I spent two weeks walking past this building and never thought twice about it until a friend told me about a great restaurant in Somerville by the T station that her entire extended family had been going to forever. She drove me here and I had to do a double take. The outside isn’t the poshest location, but don’t let that deter you! This place serves old school American fare, very 1950’s feeling. The prices also seem to be a few decades behind — which at first made me think everything would be disappointing. I was wrong on so many levels about this place. I got the twin lobsters and they were cooked perfectly. Absolutely perfectly. All the meals come with«popover bread». Now, I’m not a bread person, but I ate two of these warm, fluffy creations. Ultimately I had an amazing night. If you want a cheap and fun night out look no further than Mount Vernon.

Don’t get me wrong… I have always loved this place because it reminds me of the restaurants I used to go to as a kid — old fashioned inside, great waitresses with character. But whoever this guy is… the owner or manager(older guy) just gets in the way of the customers & waitresses. The place could run itself without him. I’ll give them another shot, but they really need to think about if he’s the face they want for the business.

Sunday Brunch is THEBESTBRUNCHDEAL in Boston! Well, I did not expect much but went there for lobsters in the end of September. I found out a good deal on their FB with $ 10.99 for brunch. So we had brunch first then lobsters. The brunch is all-you-can-eat buffet excluding drinks. They offer fruits, hot dishes, Bacon, Sausage, Ham, Made-to-Order Omelette Station, Waffles, desserts, and RAWBAR including fresh oysters, clams, and shrimps!!! We are so happy with the buffet. Everything tastes good especially the raw bar and fruits. some of the hot entrees are not my cup of tea. so pass! You should try raw bar if you are an oyster lover. We finished the brunch and decided to make our lobsters take-away. Do notice that the price they show outside of the restaurant is not the price for take-out. Ask friendly waitress for further information first. The take-out twin lobsters are great. we bought it with around $ 17. It’s fresh but a little bit over-cooked. I guess it will taste better in the restaurant. But I still love them A LOT, anyway. 中文版評論看此:

Came here on the East Broadway Foodie Crawl and I wanted to like it so much. Lobster mac n cheese? Yes! But it wasn’t great. Odd color too. I also tried the corn chowder which needed to be put through a sieve to get the gritty part out.

Same rating, but new information! The twin lobsters special during the summer is a main draw. Last summer it was $ 9.99, and this summer it’s $ 13.99. Still a great deal, and that’s what most people seem to come for. If you don’t like lobster(you silly fool), come on Wednesday, sit in the bar section, and get a meatloaf dinner for $ 5.99. Definitely the best meatloaf I’ve had in a very long time.

Three words: Twin Lobster Special. Seriously, this is the best deal in all of Massachussetts as far as I am concerned! The prices alternate and can be anywhere from $ 19.99 to $ 9.99(!!!) — for TWO very well portioned lobsters. They were fresh, perfectly cooked, and the meal comes with their incredible popover bread, which is seriously delicious. All the reviews of poorer service/“this place is not fancy” had me worried, but the staff we came in contact with were above and beyond helpful and friendly and the dining room(the room off to the side, separate from the bar) was clean and welcoming. I paid $ 13.99 for two awesome lobsters(this was their special August price for early in the week) and I left incredibly FULL and very satisfied. I will DEFINITELY come back. Run, don’t walk, to Mount Vernon!
