Somerville Computers Corporation

I kept beating on my computer, and this guy kept fixing it, year in and year out. A computer that should have lasted one year has now lasted four and counting, thanks to his frequent, always capable, and always reasonable repairs. An honest man with an honest business. You can’t put a price on that.

I have had a great experience there. I got my hard drive replaced and data off my old hard drive. Price is right and service is too.

Fui a um mês atrás fui no Somerville Computer e pedi para instalar no meu laptop Apple o programa do word. Fui buscar o meu laptop após dois dias e o Sr Mario me falou que eu teria que reinicializar meu Mac laptop quando quisesse usar o Mac ou Windows. Sai de lá insatisfeita porque não foi falado para mim que o Sr. Mario iria criar um novo HD dentro do meu laptop e que se eu necessitasse entrar no Word teria que reinicializar meu computador pressionando a tecla command.
Após algumas semanas de insatisfação e temendo encurtar a vida da bateria do meu laptop. Liguei para o Sr Mario dia 4 de Novembro de 2014 às 11:30am da manhã e falei que não estava satisfeita com o fato dele ter criado um HD dentro do meu laptop, visto que tenho outras pessoas que tem o mesmo computador e não foi instalado dessa forma.
Sr. Mario foi muito mal educado e aos berros falou que se eu levasse o computador na mac eles falariam que estava certo da forma que ele instalou.
Falei para ele que em nenhum momento ele me falou que eu deveria reinicializar meu computador e que gostaria de ter o mesmo software que as outras pessoas tem no mac delas para trabalhar simultaneamente no word etc.
Ele falou que poderia instalar o software da Mac por um custo adicional. O caso é que foi o que eu solicitei desde o primeiro momento, nunca imaginei que ele iria modificar meu software, simplesmente pedi a instalação do Word para o Mac ele me deu o preço de $ 125 e eu o paguei.
Sugeri educadamente que ele removesse o software e o HD e instalasse o software para o MAC e ele mandou eu para puta que pariu e que fosse encher o saco de outra pessoa e que procure meus direitos e desligou o telefone na minha cara.
OBS.: Eu fui em uma loja especializada em computadores e não fui no fundo de quintal de ninguém pedir para instalar word pirata e desconfigurar o meu laptop. Esse é o tipo de profissional que temos para servir a nossa comunidade?

Mandei essa carta para um jornal brasileiro local. O jornalista ligou para o Sr. Mario para entender o ocorrido e o Sr Mario pediu para não publicar que ele iria se retratar comigo, e nunca o fez.
Estou traumatizada com a ignorância dessa pessoa.

After a disastrous attempt to replace a computer screen at another repair shop in Brookline, I went to Somerville Computers to get a quote for the replacement and repair. Mario was incredibly professional and friendly. He gave a very reasonable quote and provided a paper invoice to document the quote as well. He completed the repair in amazing time, and I am very grateful! I would highly recommend this shop to anyone I know.

I was skeptical about Somerville Computers especially since it’s a small shop with no website in Somerville. However, the owner, Mario is very courteous and quick to explain in a polite way the work that he is going to do on your computer.
My case today was a minor one — I’d stripped the screw of my new samsung laptop as I tried to upgrade the memory and couldn’t get the damn thing out. Even though the laptop is in warranty, sending it back to Samsung was going to be more of a hassle and time I didn’t want to go through (warranty does not cover shipping laptop to Samsung in Texas)
So I decided to give Somerville computers a chance. Mario tried to remove it immediately but couldn’t. He had a lot of customers waiting in line so he asked me to leave it behind and he’d try later on. I was skeptical that he was going to make it seem like it took forever to fix.
However, 2hrs later he called me back and let me know my laptop was ready. On getting there, he only charged me $ 5 and as a courtesy replaced my screw with a new one. Note: that he usually charges a $ 35 diagnostic fee.
It’s nice to know that there are still some honest small businesses out there in Somerville and that’s why I’m writing this review. Hope it helps others out there.

There are only 2 things I know about my laptop and Somerville Computers.
1) I paid for virus removal and system upgrade.
2) The damned thing did not work any better, in fact it functioned worse, after I got it back.
Perhaps I blame them because of my own ignorance.
Perhaps I should have questioned them at length about what precisely they would do, what the intended consequences would be, and how successful they had been upon completion.
Or perhaps they should have taken more than 60 seconds to initiate some sort of explanation themselves.
Either way, not a success.
