The service was slow. I went through several iterations of trying to order items from the menu because most of the items on it were missing. It came down to the point in which I had to ask them what they actually had so I could order from there. I also tried to order a soda but they(both waitresses) didn’t know how much it cost so I gave up and got a drink next door. I’m surprised that these guys are still in business.

Got the fried goat and it was over cooked, some pieces so much so that I couldn’t eat them, sad to waste them. Some pieces were ok, I ate everything I could. The plantains were good, they do them flat and crunchy which I like. Side salad was small and included some grungy looking tomato slices I couldn’t hang with. Despite the less than awesome first experience, I’d like to go back and explore other parts of the menu for some reason. Loved hearing everyone speak a different language(French I think? Or Creole?). They do breakfast, which might be nice to try next.

Their food is good, definitely recommend I always order from them when I’m in the mood for Haitian food during lunch since I work near there. But don’t expect customer service as it seems like a trend in every West Indian restaurant that I go to.

The food was mediocre-my sister got the fried pork and it was not seasoned, no salt. My dad’s food was lukewarm. The service was my biggest issue, our waitress had little customer service skills. The staff are not professional at all. Mostly will never eat-in here again.

Everything my mouth touched crackled with great flavor, fish was fried and tasty, soup was the best

The fish is fresh and seasoned perfectly. The rice and beans are as well very generous portions. There was a bit of a language barrier when ordering, but it was worth it.

Cons: The service is slow. The staff does not follow up to see if the diners are well situated. Not the friendliest reception. Christian music blasts all day long, on loop. You would think the Christian music would reflect their demeanor. It doesn’t! Poor audio from TV speakers. Pros:The food is really good. Decent portions. Plenty of on street parking. This place is not worth my time!

The food may be good but the service is awful! Every single time I’ve come to this establishment the workers are RUDE. I didn’t bother asking for the manager because he was just as rude!!! The reason why i choose to come to Sunrise instead of Highland Cuisine is because its right off 93. Ill rather drive 5 minutes to Highland Cuisine instead of give my money to Sunrise. One star giving because of bad service. Go to HIGHLANDCUISINE instead its right off McGrath Highway which is less than 5 minutes away. They’ll atlases treat you with respect.

One of the best places to get Haitian food in Somerville. The family that owns this place are very accommodating and pleasant. They catered for my teachers wedding and did a superb job. I love to order the fish fried or sautéed, black rice, plantains, black bean sauce, legume my my my… so good. I’m salivating as I type this. For a beverage I love to have coconut soda. I would eat here or take out both are fine. The service is great… if you want something I particular sometimes they may not have what you want so it’s best before you drive there just an FYI. I have been disappointed in the past but there are some great alternatives and all their food is good. They are NEVER a disappointment when it comes to their food being fresh and yummy. This cuisine is probably one of the most underrated ones out there. Haitian food is a mix of history culture and survival. When it hits the tummy everything in life is good.

I hate to do this, but I was really appalled at the level of service I received. I walked in and was told to seat myself, then no one came to take my order. Everyone who worked there went into the kitchen for ages and I sat there while a small child ran around the restaurant harassing all the customers. In fact, there was only one person eating and everyone else was just lounging around. I couldn’t tell if they were there to eat or not. After about 10 minutes I got up to leave(of course no one stopped me – they were all in the kitchen!) I ended up getting Indian food elsewhere.

I was driving by and decided to go in on a whim. I am really happy I did. Great food(chicken/pork/goat)! Will definitely be back just for the bean sauce. Service is a little slow but the people are super nice.

I still love Sunrise for Haitian cuisine. I have always had friendly service(whether I’m with Haitians or on my own) and the food has always been good. Today, I ordered the griot platter, which I had not ordered before. The griot was crisp and tasty, which means the accompanying pork fat was tender. The pikliz had a nice bit of heat and as usual, the plantains and rice & beans were good. Also, it appears they now have pâté, but were out at the time I was there. Hopefully, they will have it next time.

the food here is very good, ever better if you like things very spicy, the service is friendly, but communication can be difficult and don’t expect a quick bite to eat

I have only eaten in there a couple of times, but I get take out from there once a month or so. It has always been a great experience. I always get the same chicken, rice and beans, but it also comes with plantains, salad, sauce, and a dry spicy cole slaw for about $ 9 and I get 3 meals out of it! they are accommodating with special requests and have always been polite and friendly. I’m a fan!

Clean, friendly, lots of street parking, and a large menu. Don’t have half the things they say they have on their menu, and I found a bone followed by pieces of meat in my squash soup after I was told it was vegetarian. I do NOT eat red meat and I believe there was beef in it. They acted like they really didn’t care that I was freaked and grossed out. Rice and peas, plantains look good, but I will not be coming back here.
