This hardware store is straight out of the TV show from the 1960’s with Eddie Albert and Eva Gabor called Green Acres. From the outside, it looks like an old time store in Hootersville with a screen door in front. Inside is amazing with what seems to be congeries of hardware, parts, seeds, hoses, etc. in what seems to be in random order. There is a method to their madness, and this store is like a local, small town museum where you have to browse around and appreciate the chaotic displays and shelves. It took me close to 45 minutes just passing down aisles and seeing what things I needed for the house. Not that I needed it, I bought a galvanized old style watering can made by our neighbors to the south in Mexico. It graces my back patio as an art piece among the flowers & greenery. Fulkerson Hardware, Somis Nut House, and Underwood Farms are the trio of stores you have got to hit when shopping in Somis. Truly a cool experience if you think being in a middle of a corn field or seeing fireflies flare their lights in balmy summer darkness is truly de rigueur to an enriching life. Infinitely more fun than going to Home Depot, Lowes, Restoration Hardware, and other faceless corporate chain stores where the employees may not know anything more about the products they stock.
