My favorite place to get a beer in the neighborhood they really nailed it with the outdoor picnic table atmosphere. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable, just down to earth people. I really mean the five stars and I would give them 6 if I can.

Great tap house with a unique bottle selection as well. I’m talked shelves and coolers filled with beers from all over, including a good percentage dedicated to the local stuff. With 30 beers on tap it can be a bit tough at first to make a decision, but thankfully they do smaller pours too. That way you can flight it up with about 6 or so smaller pours before settling on the pint route to take. Variety is the spice of life, right? You can leave here with about 15 new check-ins on your Untappd app… for whatever that’s worth – I’m looking at you, beer geeks.

Such a hip, cute beer house in good ol’ Santa Cruz that I was surprised of how awesome it was when I got there. Lots of beers to choose from on tap, as well as refrigerated and non-refrigerated bottles. They do small 05 oz pours, so you don’t feel pressured to commit to picking just one drink to try. My boyfriend and I tried their hard root beer and their fruit salad cider, both winners, especially for those who don’t particularly like the taste of beer. Prices were pretty reasonable, for all sizes of pours. The service here is amazing! I didn’t feel as frowned upon for not knowing much about beer(I’m working on it!) as I do at other beer rooms, and the girl who helped us behind the counter was so nice about giving us samples of anything we were interested in, even after we paid! There are some high chairs and tables inside, but I think the best part is being able to sit outside, at one of their three or four communal tables. Perfect for groups! I was here early Sunday afternoon, and there was a good crowd of people. There’s also a separate building outside that sells finger food, I think, but I didn’t get to try any this time around. Parking is mostly on the street, as their own lot is pretty small. However, we found a spot with no problem. You should probably maximize your walking anyways, so you can drink more :) Can’t wait to visit again if I’m in the area!

Great beer selection. Huge outdoor patio with heaters. Dog and kid friendly. They recently added a food window with Carpo’s next door. It’s perfect for a large group. A must visit for the Capitola area.

Really cool place to chill. Great selection and friendly staff. Dog-friendly patio. They sell t-shirts and fun memorabilia too. Fun to see the beers in the refrigerator and see how many you’ve tried. Wish they had food offerings to go w/beer.

Awesome beer selection, love that they have small pours so you can try a bunch of varieties. Love the dog-friendliness and yard games! Food is good quality, but please add some more vegan options.

In a nut shell, love it. Great place to chill on a Saturday afternoon. Cornhole and ping pong are nice additions and it is kid friendly. Don’t let that deter you. No jungle gym or kids running and screaming. Just an easy place to take your kid without getting the evil eye. The Karpo’s window is great too. You can get some good pub food. Since you have been sitting there for six hours you are going to get hungry. A super smart addition. Always an ever changing beer selection, they have the thingy where you put the glass on it and it sprays water or something in the glass to rinse and always an inch of head… perfect. The spray thing always impresses me. Why four stars then? This is like my favourite place. Well, the beer is about a buck more than you would pay anywhere else. That is not an issue for me. I am happy to pay extra for a great spot like this. However, at all those other places I have my beer brought to me and a server on top of getting me another. At Beer 30 you stand in line and it does not move quick. It gets old fairly fast. I remember bars in college that would serve 10+ beers an minute with one bartender. The staff do provide good service, are very friendly and take their time. You can try the beer first which is nice but this leads to the long waits. I simply suggest adding servers during the busy days/times, add cashier spots or have a «decided» and«undecided» line so if you getting your 8th #17 you don’t have to wait while the groups in front taste a few before deciding. I favour adding servers. I will continue to go more than my wife likes and drink a few more than she likes too. The lines wont stop me from going. I enjoy going. Hell I think I will head there now!

The beer selection and the atmosphere are both good, but the service is terrible. They lost my credit card(gave it to another patron), demonstrated unprofessional treatment when I found out, and executed zero follow-up. I left my number at their request, but they never contacted me or offered a refund. They also could not refund my purchase or my tip after I discovered they gave away my credit card(I bought a six-pack) because they… insert drum roll here… needed the card to give me the funds back! Ha! How ironic! Thanks for nothing! Vote with your wallet. I am, and I won’t be coming back.

This place is so fun to come with friends! We brought a bunch of appetizers and made a meal out of it as we tried a few tasty beers. I think I found maybe my new favorite — Oskar Blues Death by Coconut Irish Porter. It’s dark. It’s coconut flavored. It’s smooth. It’s delicious n I know they rotate through beers a lot, but I really hope they keep this around and I really want to find it again. They have corn hole, ping pong, and darts in the back, and plenty of dogs(it is Santa Cruz /Soquel after all) and so it’s a great way to spend a few hours, eating your own food, drinking their huge selection of beers and playing some games. We came on a Wednesday night and they also had some live folk music. We’ll be back!

This place is awesome! I love the outside seating area with the picnic benches. We came at about 9:40 on Sunday and they were still happy to serve us even though they were getting ready to close up. Since we got there on the later side, there weren’t many people and we were able to get a table easily. The place has a really laid back vibe and it’s nice to hang out and drink delicious beer. Speaking of delicious beer– they have soo many options. From dark to light, IPA’s to Hefs, there is literally something for everyone(unless you don’t like beer, in which case you might be crazy). I definitely want to come back and try out some of the other selections!

Beer Thirty is great for outside beers on a nice day. They have lots of picnic benches and tables outside and even have a place for dogs to play. They seem flexible about bringing your own food, although there is a little window you can go up to and order food from a limited menu. They have a very balanced beer list — there were only a couple of IPAs! And a great selection of bombers in a fridge case, so you can take some home(which of course, we did).

Beer Thirty is a really cool spot to hang out and drink good beer. A nice laid back vibe, and a chance to –gasp – have a CONVERSATION with people next to you at the long tables. I know it’s quite shocking that businesses set up seating that encourages human interaction! Put your phones down and enjoy the delicious beer and company! They have a good selection of beers from all over, and quite a selection of bottles from great breweries near and far, including a nice lineup of Cascade, which makes this sour fan happy! Conveniently, they have a Carpo’s food window with a limited menu, or you can walk next door and grab something off the regular menu to bring to your table to eat. There are lots of seating areas here. From the outside it looks a bit small, and parking may be a little tough, but even on a busy weekend there were plenty of seats for all. They have several outdoor covered or uncovered tables, a few indoor tables and even an off-leash dog section in the middle. There are even water bowls for the pooches. Corn hole in the back and a really laid-back atmosphere made this a new SC favorite for me. We’ll definitely make this a stop when we’re back in town. It’s good to see some quality beer spots popping up in the area finally!

Always fun here! Dogs + Beer = best people and the best time. Bring ur dog, bring a deck of cards, order a burger at Carpos(on weekends they have a window at beer thirty, otherwise just order takeout) or bring ur own food and plan to be there for hours cuz u won’t want to leave. They have beer for every person. Beer that gets u excited and inspires you to keep drinking. Always have a sour on tap, a cream ale, and the traditional types of beer. They carry ciders for the gluten free people and if you don’t want anything on tap, they have fridges full of bottled beer. They also have corn hole set up if you feel like getting competitive. There’s an indoor and outdoor area, but their outdoor area is where everyone wants to be since the weather is always nice in sc. The owners are usually around too, makes it a very popular local hive of fun people.

I’m going 5 stars because they consistently keep Fresh Squeezed IPA on tap. The selection of beers on tap was solid. I was able to try some local brews as well as others from breweries I really enjoyed In Southern California. Thankfully they had the majority of their outdoor tables covered with umbrellas. Otherwise the location wouldn’t be so appealing as the inside space is pretty small. The staff was really helpful. Prices were reasonable. Really happy I got this recommendation the night before!

It was an interesting setting, what I’d expect at a fair grounds, base rock floor, picnic tables with umbrellas and awnings. It seemed great for big groups, small groups or couples could blend. Ping pong tables. We didn’t think they had food so we nabbed some fish tacos at the fish lady, and a sandwich at Carpo’s. But we later discovered that«Beer Thirty» had food/sides available for order. We tried the fries and might venture into calamari next time. The folks at the bar were cold at first but very helpful as I asked questions with multiple samples to help us decide which pint would be next on order. I’d go back just to experience it again, I was underwhelmed in general not wowed by the ambience or the beer, but am open to being impressed at our next outing!

This place is awesome! I came here with my Dad on a Thursday after work and we had a great time. They let you sample the beer before selecting which I always appreciate! We got curly fries from the Carpo’s food window and they were delicious! However, I hope they continue to expand the food menu and include more selections. If you don’t feel like buying food, you’re allowed to bring food in. We saw several groups having picnics with food they brought from Trader Joe’s. They feature a lot of local brews that they rotate so your favorite beer may be gone the next time. All in all this is a great place to meet up with with friends to enjoy beer and the fabulous weather! There are 2 downsides. Parking can be hard to find. They only have a small lot with 5 – 6 spaces. They have a port a potty bathroom. Yikes!

Sadly we discovered Beer Thirty only a couple months before moving away. Beer Thirty has created a wonderful environment to hang outside in the Santa Cruz area and enjoy some great beer and good sun. Plenty of shade for warm days, heat lamps for cool nights, and great draft beer and bottles as well. This was the only place I could find Habanero Sculpin for quite a while until it finally started showing up in SJ liquor stores weeks later. In general, their bottle selection is excellent. On multiple occasions in February/March, when we usually would’ve gone to hang out at SARA, we ended up at Beer Thirty instead. The casual outdoor environment and atmosphere is just too enjoyable to pass up. If you like pets, there is a special area on the grounds to hang out with your dogs, and usually there are several to be seen. If you ever heard someone walking up to the pet area on arrival squealing with excitement to see all the dogs, that was probably my wife… Be sure we grabbed some Beer Thirty schwag before leaving norCal. Also, beyond their normal great offerings, they always offered a cold pressed coffee blended with a nitro stout and it was FANTASTIC! Can’t recommend it enough.

Beer30 has such a great crowd and amazing staff. They are completely in the know about everything on tap and make great recommendations. You can tell them a beer you frequent and they can tell you a close substitute.(Unless you like Coors Light). Although they do not serve food, you can bring your own or go to one of the places sooo close by that they give you a buzzer to pick up when it is ready to go. Bring your dog, bring the kids, bring the friends… hell I have seen pigs there. Prep for some sun and a great afternoon. Bring a sweater just in case.

I’ve been here twice and am a little obsessed. Beer Thirty has great beer, many options, and awesome scenery. The first time I went there was my birthday, so my housemate bought me the 6 samplers. They had a few options for fruit beer and cider, which are my favorites. And they were all delicious! It was awesome to get to try out so many different beers, and the process is so easy — you just write it down on a card and they get you the beer. The second time I came back they unfortunately got rid of most of the fruity beer options, but I tried some new ones that were also very good.(I also realized that the 6 sampler plate is pretty expensive, but I still think it’s worth it.) And they have a huge refrigerator filled with bottles of their tap beer, so you can always take something home that you like or don’t see there at the moment. They have a very small indoor setting, but their outdoors are great. They have an area with ping pong tables and other games, and just loads of outdoor seating. Even heat lamps for when it gets cold! I definitely plan to come back many more times.
