The service and the food were both terrible. It took our server 10 minutes to bring us glasses for the water that they keep on the table. She only returned to take our food order, help drop off our food, and then leave the check. I was with 4 friends and none of our breakfasts were tasty. I ordered the veggie omelette without cheese and it came out with so much red onion that I couldn’t eat it. The breakfast potatoes taste like they come in frozen. Some of them were overcooked and some were under. The French toast also tastes like it comes in frozen. There were«char» marks on the sides of the Texas toast. The coffee looked more like weak, black tea than coffee. The only good things about the restaurant were that they keep water in carafes on the table and they have non dairy creamer. Other than that, I would recommend eating anywhere else in South Bend. McDonald’s would be much better.

Service was slow and clumsy. Food was not good. Was given french toast with egg on only one side, potatoes were under cooked and tasted freezer burnt. Would not recommend.
Disappointing. I was really excited to try this place and waited for my turn to be seated while enjoying the atmosphere and drinking complimentary coffee. Once the food arrived, however, I was thoroughly disappointed. Everything but the English muffin was lukewarm, clearly just quickly assembled from a pre-made mix. The broccoli and onions in my skillet were completely cold, and the mushrooms were raw white mushrooms, most likely from their salad bar. That said, the service was quick and friendly; otherwise the place would have received 1 star from me. It has a lot of potential and all the ingredients for a nice dining experience. Fresh, well made meals could really make the place great.

This review is based on only one dining experience. I went for breakfast and it was certainly less than satisfactory. The space is nice. There is great attention to detail. For instance, water flavored with sliced citrus was at the table when I sat down. Very nice touch. The coffee comes in its own thermos so you can refill at your leisure. That is also great. But restaurants are about food, and the food has numerous issues. I got biscuits and gravy with eggs. The biscuits were fine. They were fluffy. The gravy looked far from«homemade,» as the menu said. That is to say, I’m fairly sure it utilized some sort of mix. I’m looking for a real gravy – drippings, thickener(like flour), milk. The perfect sheen of this stuff belies the shortcuts taken to finalize the product. The dish was to be served with«minced chives.» It instead had green onions. Other pictures online also show green onions. Green onions are not chives! They have a much more aggressive flavor. Further, they were not minced. They sere just chopped, therefore, an odd texture and too much flavor per bite. Worse, they were old. They were beginning to yellow and thus very very oniony. This place markets itself as a french-style breakfast place. Therefore, they ought to have a flawless poached egg. I specifically asked whether they poach their eggs in water of the microwave(yes some establishments offer some bastardized version of poaching via microwave). They assured me they use water. They probably do, but they also use poaching pods, which commit the same culinary crime. First, they do not cook evenly. Secondly, they cook via steam and conductive heat through the silicon. That aside, the eggs were awful. They were underdone. I can do watery eggs, but right under the steamed surface was egg white that was completely raw! One egg was so underdone that it was already popped when it got to my table! If you cannot cook eggs, get out of the kitchen. The atmosphere was great. The service was quite good. The food was bland, boring, and in some instances bad. I cannot speak for their other dishes, but the one I got adequately demonstrated the lack of culinary common sense. I will not be back.

A must-have for a South bend visit! I exclusively eat at LePeep for breakfast when I come into town. They have pretty much everything from breakfast to lunch, healthy to unhealthy. My favorite part of LePeep? The service. Without a doubt the kindest servers, hosts, bussers in town. I would come to LePeep 10 times before I visited another breakfast place in South Bend. Some notable items to try: spinnaker omelette, harvest Benedict, and their soups are really great too! Their chef makes the soups daily and they have a rotating selection. The coffee of the day is always on point. I love the hazelnut. If you are looking for a quality breakfast or lunch in the heart of downtown South Bend, look no further than Le Peep! I have confidence that you will leave feeling happy and full.

Just about every Wednesday I have a networking group, Michiana Networking which meets at Le Peep. Breakfast is always delicious and service is gracious and timely. Nice way to start Wednesdays.

A great place to grab breakfast/brunch. The atmosphere was nice and the staff was polite. I had the French toast and it was delicious, not soggy, but placed on thick toast to give it a more crunch with the crust. I would go back to try something else on their menu.

Le Peep is always ok and sometimes great but only at breakfast. The ambience is quaint and friendly. It’s common that you will run into someone that you know. As for food, lunch is meh more than it is good. The turkey sandwich has bland, thick turkey with not enough avocado, even if you ask for more. The chicken pasta is bland. The broccoli cheddar soup is disappointing with far too much spice for what it should have. However, I really enjoy that they serve you drinks in mini carafes. For breakfast, the eggs are always cooked to perfection and I love their sourdough toast. The crepes are nice and airy and the omelettes have adequate amounts of add ins. The service is always friendly and speedy, which is always very much appreciated. All in all, I would have to recommend that if you go for lunch, get breakfast fare and you will not be disappointed.

I love the variety they have on the menu. The food is amazing and the service is outstanding. The bloody Mary’s speak for themselves. A little kick, but not to much.

Nice atmosphere and we got seated rather quickly for a Sunday morning. Overall a standard breakfast place. I was kind of hoping for a crêpe but disappointed by the options. Got a waffle combo instead. It was better than most hotel waffles, but not the best I’ve ever had. I like my waffles crispy on the outside and chewy inside. These were soft throughout. Bacon was so so. My husband enjoyed his egg white Greek omelette and the potatoes that came with it were yummy. He got a side of sausage with his meal and was impressed. Coffee was weak by hubby’s standards. The best part of this place was the downtown location. Not sure we’ll come back on our own accord though. The Original Pancake House on Ironwood wins the battle of breakfast joints in this round.

We came here while out of town for my sons lacrosse tournament. Everyone here is extremely friendly! We sat at the«Worst Seat in the House» even had a sign saying so. It was just the table by the kitchen. Most restaurants don’t care that you are sitting there. But they delivered a complimentary«sticky bun» to us just for sitting there. It was delicious! My son and I ordered the chocolate chip pancakes. They were giant! As big as the plate, and delicious! We told them we were in a hurry and they had us in and out in no time. We were so impressed we actually came back the next day. They remembered us and asked my son if their food was the reason they won his games… haha Then they brought us another sticky bun for coming back. I highly recommend this place!

By Unilocal recommendation we tried this restaurant as we were driving through south bend. Beautiful décor that was elegant but we felt comfortable in casual clothes. We tried the recommended gooey buns and that were a very nice cinnamony way to start the meal. We got the eggs Benedict which were absolutely cooked perfectly. Very tasty and filling. The peasant potatoes were tasty and nicely seasoned and cooked to the right texture but I was too full to eat them. The other item we ordered was the pancake sandwich which really looked like 2 pancakes and a side of bacon and an egg. Not like a sandwich at all. Not as satisfying. A little disappointing. But overall it was a lovely experience and we are glad to have tried this new to us restaurant. Very outgoing and pleasant staff.

My husband and I each ordered off the lite menu. For a lite option there is a LOT of food on your plate. We both took home leftovers.

We love this place! Whenever we’re in South Bend we make a point of visiting this restaurant for Brunch. It’s superb for so many reasons. The food is always great and there is a pretty varied menu on offer. The breakfasts are freshly prepared and plentiful and the plates are well presented. The specials alone are amazing and we’re never disappointed with anything we order. Additionally, they’re very accommodating of any dietary requirements. By far the best thing about this restaurant, however, is its staff. They are so friendly and helpful and we always feel welcome eating here. That’s why we keep coming back and we shall continue to do so in the future.

The friendly staff makes sure your coffee cup is never empty! Today Shauna Brown, served up her specialty«windmill cookie coffee!» Love! Love! Love! The food is always fresh and tastes great and a friendly hello from the owner Peg makes all feel welcomed! I used to work downtown and was able to visit more often but even if you’re not in the area, it’s worth the trip!!!

I live walking distance from here, so we frequent Le Peep on the weekend when craving brunch. I always get the eggs Benedict. To be honest, it’s the only entrée I’ve ever ordered. I love it. Big helpings of ham, perfectly poached eggs every time, classic hollandaise sauce, everything you could possible want from an eggs Benedict. The entrée is served with a side of «Pheasant» potatoes which I could honestly do without. They’re always dry and the serving size is minimal. That’s where my complaints stop. My fiancé had the best Bloody Mary he’s ever had here(shout out to the awesome waitress who’s recipe they use). Service is always prompt and friendly and the atmosphere is one where I feel comfortable getting drunk on mimosas at 10AM. A little overpriced for what you get, but I’m usually willing to pay it.

So, this post is kind of late. I was in South Bend a few months ago visiting family and wanted brunch at a local spot as opposed to some homogeneous chain restaurant that South Bend seems to be full of.(I later realized that Le Peep is a chain but they do a great job disguising themselves otherwise). The food tasted fresh(local?) well seasoned and hearty like I’d expect in middle America. The wait staff was friendly– amazing service. Being a Californian, when the bill came I was pleasantly surprised. Great prices for the value! Overall, I was pleased with my experience and I look forward eating here again on my next visit to the Bend…
