I never give out 5 stars. A restaurant will be great on my 1st visit and then the next time I’ll be disappointed. Not so with Hana. This is our go to place for family night. We’ve been more than a dozen times. Lunch and dinner. Try the lunch box bento box. You won’t find a better value for flavor as well as volume. Our favorite sushi roll is the sweet potato roll, but they’re all good. You won’t be disappointed!

This place is so great! Best sushi in Burlington. The service is excellent and they have so many unique rolls and menu items. On top of that– it’s delicious. If you’re looking for legit sushi– this is your place!

Quiet place, good service, reminds me of the day in Japan. To be honest, this is the most comfortable Japanese restaurant I have ever been

Still my go to spot for some yummy sushi and hibachi food!!! I go there weekly! The service is fast fun and friendly and the prices are a deal. It’s a ideal place for a first date or business meetings. We order the hibachi soup which tastes of mushroom heaven!!! And ordered the bbq squid and seared tuna as a app then our entrees came right when we finish the apps at the perfect time. Love this place still can’t find anything thing wrong with the place. If you want good sushi come here.

We ordered delivery from them delivery took over 2 hours and by the time the food got here it was cold, and the sushi tasted bad. Very disappointed

I’m a little torn on this review. The service was exceptional and without fault. The sake was nice and hot, the way i like it. The food was nothing exceptional. The sushi and sashimi platter I had was very basic. The platter listed that there was six pieces of sashimi but I did not realize it would be only two types of fish. The hibachi platter my wife ordered had almost no vegetables on it and the traditional hibachi sear was missing on the fried rice and the scallops. I’ve had sushi and many other places but this platter left me unsatisfied.

I had the tempura udon. A good thing about it was that it was a generous portion. However, I believe that quality is more important than quantity. The tempura soaked so much cheap grease that I felt ill and stopped eating halfway through. The shrimp were not cleaned properly. My mother ordered sushi and her entrée arrived over 5 minutes after my father and ours. This restaurant is an embarrassment to Japanese culture, and even as a restaurant in general. You’d be better off biting into a raw fish.

Honestly I feel that the overall quality of the food is slipping here and I’ll explain why. I went there for lunch and ordered some things off the menu that had previously been good. Such as tuna ball, Hanna roll and 8 piece sashimi. All these items we not as good as I had remembered. It seems to me the overall quality of the fish that they are using is subpar. It reminds me more of a Koto experience than San Sai. . #Tuna ball was all benito flake and little tuna. #The sashimi was a real disappointment. The fish they used had no real flavor. Fish wasn’t spoiled or anything it just seemed like low quality fish. # Hanna roll just meh. It seemed like they used exact same tuna as tuna ball and used sirachimayo to cover things up. #The only saving grace was the shrimp tempura lunch special which came with a decent amount of shrimp and loads of fried sweet potato and Taro. Perhaps even too much fried starches. I’ll also have to agree with Alice that the waitress seemed to know very little English and it was a bit awkward.

There are good bento and then there are truly authentic Japanese bento. Unfortunately, neither descriptions apply to the food items served in the plastic compartmentalized containers at Hana Japanese Restaurant. I was hopeful for something noteworthy after having read all the good reviews from follow Unilocalers. However, an empty parking lot as well as an absence of patron are never positive signs. Giving them the benefit of the doubt, we ventured in anyway to be promptly greeted by an abrupt young female hostess with a heavy Chinese accent. At $ 10, the take-out lunch bento we chose included a small portion of unseasoned, seemingly boiled chicken breast drizzled with a translucent slurry of something resembling an anemic teriyaki sauce. The meal also included a cup of miso soup, a small tossed salad, four bite-sized pieces of California roll, in addition to a Chinese style stir-fry vegetable mixture containing broccoli, snow peas, carrots, red bellpeppers, canned straw mushroom and canned baby corn. This may be have been a fluke or perhaps we ordered something they don’t necessarily specialize in. However, the bottom line is that an eatery serving such simple preparations at such poor quality need to brush up on their culinary skills. Sorry Hana! Either your«flower» has yet to bloom or it has faded miserably. P. S. To the kitchen staff at Hana: Marinate! Marinate! Marinate! No boil… grill!!!

I was in town for work and decided to stop in for sushi. I sat at the little bar so that I didn’t have to take up a table.(although, there was only maybe 5 other patrons) My service was prompt. I ordered three rolls and I strongly recommend the Vermont Roll and the Red Dragon Roll. There is nothing really unique about this place to make it stand out, but a nice solid option if you are in the mood for good sushi!

Average flavor, rolls were on the smallish side similar to Price Chopper size rolls, $ 15 for an 8 roll special seems a bit too high given the small size of the rolls

Very good. I was not expecting much, no one was here but me. The spring rolls were very tasty and light. I got the angry bird roll. Was not like any other place I have been. Good job, Hana. I will return. Four stars because the bathroom hand dryer fan is so loud it drowns out the dining room.

Had the pleasure of dining here with a group of Unilocalers and it was a blast! From the very beginning(my calling them at 11:00am on the day of) to taking care of bills at the end of the evening, it was a friendly and tasty experience. The woman who took my reservation was extremely friendly and helpful. The restaurant was unbelievably accommodating, they gave us extra space and even(much to my surprise) agreed to split up the bills amongst the 6 or 7 different parties. For food I would recommend the crab rangoons and the spicy rolls(by far my favorite of all the things we had that night). My only suggestion here would be to have more ‘party size offerings’ since what we did was order a lot of single appetizers to share. The customer service was the highlight of the dining experience– and I’m excited to go back to try out some of their other kitchen items since mostly what I sampled was sushi.

The sushi I had was fresh and tasty. I went with a large group and they were kind enough to split up the check between the whole party. The service was excellent and the prices were quite reasonable. I am definitely a fan!

I am going to be really honest and right up front say that I was not very impressed with the quality of the food at this establishment. Though our waitress was very friendly and accommodating, the food was sincerely nothing to write home about. We had a variety of appetizers and sushi rolls but none of them had any significant bursts of flavor. Everything was just sort of bland and tasteless. I was also rather unimpressed with the prices at the restaurant– there is no reason for simple Katsu to cost $ 16…

Hana is the best place for Japanese cuisine in Burlington. Hana offers consistently excellent food and service of the highest quality. The atmosphere is decent – it almost has a cafeteria feel – however, the food and service are so good the atmosphere doesn’t matter. The Hibachi and Sushi menu are amazing! The portions are large, the drinks are good, the prices are reasonable, and the staff are friendly and professional. Hana has the best Japanese food in the Burlington.

This place is legit. Wish more people would come here. It’s completely dead but the food is amazing. Not too mention the scorpion bowl. So big and actually made right.

A group of 10 of us ate here tonight, and we were all pleased! The service was very good — our server took great care of us and we never felt neglected. Water glasses were always full, and she was always prompt at removing dishes that we were done with. I am not a seafood/fish eater, but those of us that are were all quite happy. My non-seafood dishes were really good. I had Crab Rangoons, chicken & chive skewers, tempura veggies, fried rice, and fruit rolls — all delicious. It sort of fell apart a little bit at the end. I was on a check with my parents, because we had a coupon, but then when I wanted to put my food on my CC and put the remainder on my parents, we were not allowed to do that, so I paid for the whole thing and need to trust that mom and dad will pay me back! Also, when we sat down, we realized that two of us had coupons. It did clearly state that only one coupon per table, but she told us that since we would be on several separate checks that that would be fine, but alas at payment time, we were not allowed to use both coupons.(We used ours and my sister will save hers for another time.) Not a big deal, because we were sort of expecting that, but too bad our server had said otherwise. I am still giving the place 5-stars despite these few issues. Everything else was really great. I’ve eaten at Koto before and HATEDIT, and will definitely be back to HANA!

Went back on a Thursday night. There were a lot more people, but the waitress didn’t really understand me or speak English. This made for a relatively unpleasant experience, but I do think she’s new and just needs to get used to it. I still love the ambiance and was much happier with the atmosphere with more people than last time. The waitress really ruined the experience for me though. I do think this was a one time thing as she did try but just didn’t know the language. On to the food: #Yakitori — this was super disappointing. It was dry and not savory, not at all what I’d expect the yakitori to be. #Small hibachi noodles — only $ 4 without any meats and a lot for the price! The noodles are really good and have a nice smoky flavor to them. It’s also fantastic value. #Eel avocado roll — fresh and good. Didn’t blow me away but it was good. The sauce was great and I was able really to taste the eel. #Hibachi soup — just as good as last time. Strong mushroom taste and very savory. #Hibachi chicken combination dinner — sauces were really good, but chicken left more to be desired. They were less dry than the yakitori, but still not great. Overall, don’t get chicken here and opt for other meats! Get the $ 4 hibachi noodles or rice for great value. Meats are only $ 2 more so there’s a nice good valued meal right there.

Loved it! Like another reviewer said, wish they were busier. All the food was perfect, came out quickly and very hot. Pretty good value for the $$. In fact, the Bento Box I ordered with Salmon and Tempura Shrimp was probably the best I’ve had in years and it was cooked to perfection. The portions were very generous as well. Nice place to go and perhaps the quiet is nice for a change.
