Red Robin is my jam. I’ve been coming to this location for years– with friends, on dates, work meetings, etc. and every time has been nothing but great! It saddens me to see the staff here running around and being overworked. They are SO kind but run from thing to thing and are doing so many things at once– cleaning tables, hosting, helping other tables, running food, cleaning. I don’t know much about the management but it seems short staffed and that must be stressful for the loyal servers there. :/ To the reviews who complain about management or service — these people work their butts off. If you don’t understand the service industry and don’t treat them with respect, you’ll never be satisfied. To those reading those negative reviews — don’t be deterred, it’s a great restaurant!!! Love me some banzai burgers and sweet potato fries. I’ll always choose you Red Robin.

We were unsure of where to go and the perfect place appeared, Red Robin. I have had some good and some bad experiences over the years at this franchise, but this was the best I have ever had. Between the server, the food, and the manager nothing could compare. The waitress, Katie was sweet and accommodating for new parents. And we took advantage of the 2 for 15 dollar special, which was a good deal. Our pretzel bites apparently were overcooked of which we were so hungry that it eluded us. But the Manager came over and comped us because of it. It is hard in this day of age to get good customer service, but after this I will definitely be coming back with my family in the future. Whatever you are doing at this location keep on doing it!

Just nope last night. For having to pay over $ 10 for a burger this should have been amazing and the only thing that was even close was the attitude of our server. This was the first time I’d ever been to a Red Robin, and I was given three choices of temperatures of meat and picked«pink with pink juice»(the most rare) as did my one friend. After waiting an inordinate amount of time on a Tuesday night, we received our obviously well done burgers. Again, for $ 10+ for a burger, I should be getting what I’m asking for here, especially at a burger place. When we told the server she was extremely apologetic and nice. As we were about to leave she asked if the manager had come around and we said no and she said he said he was going to and to hold on(I guess the slowness in the kitchen and his urgency matched that night). When he got around to talking to us he was condescending and dismissive, walking away mid sentence. I think he should take a page from the servers books of how to deal with customers– she acted more like a manager than he did. Even though he gave us a gift card(Ohhh $ 5!!) I won’t be back. Not worth that again.

Fantastic salad and impeccable service. Britney did a brilliant job and the salad was more fresh than a new born baby right out of the womb.

Came here for dinner with some family members. The food was OK and the service was fine. It just seemed kind of pricey for a burger and fries that you can get anywhere.

First asked the manager for a booth but received some lame excuse that servers were not assigned to the booths that were open. Really? I ordered the Nantucket entrée for $ 14.99 — the way it was brought out to me was disappointing. A basket of fried fish with fries thrown around. The wait time to receive the food was just too long and they were not that busy. The food certainly was not worth the wait. Finally was asked if I wanted a refill on my coffee — when the gal brought the coffee she picked up the cup with her fingers all over where one would put their lips on to drink — probably no training on cleanliness at this location. Spent about $ 70.00 for a family of 4. Not a good dining experience. Will not be returning to this location.

Service was terribly slow. Food took 40 minutes, drink refills long after they were empty, and extra fries never arrived. More often than not there is a problem at this location.

What a disappointment today. I ordered the cod and it was cold and super salty. Usually the service is good but today it wasn’t. I think the waiter was new. He was nice just slow.

Gross food, dirty restaurant and horrible service. If you like those things go for it. Table was dirty, server did not give us silverware, i had to ask for refiills of water, do I need to go on. I won’t talk about the disgusting bathrooms or how my burger tasted like chalk and my wife’s mac and cheese with barely any cheese. Oh and it was my daughter’s birthday mentioned it at the beginning of the meal so we could get her a sundae. Guess what they forgot, a sundae. I should of known better but I’m done with Red Robin.

I am so pleased with he predominantly young staff here at This Red Robin in South Elgin. My 8 yr. Old thought he left his ipod at the restaurant and the staff bent over backwards to try and find it. turns out he had left it in the car. They deserve all the stars. Also food and service were great. Better than other chains I have been to. The people who work here are very professional and helpful. We will be back.

I am updating my review as the Manager reached out to me to rectify the poor service. It is clear that he cares about the service and wants to see his customers happy. I understand that restaurants have their bad nights and mistakes happen(although a mistake on each meal ordered is kinda baffling). We will continue to give Red Robin business since we have always been happy with the service and food at the Oswego location near our home.

It’s a chain, therefore, expectations are low. Food is standard but service is hit or miss… most of the time being a miss. I prefer the Algonquin Location.

Red robin is normally a very good place to eat casually. Usually good food and service. This is the second time that we have been to this location where it takes a long time to get our food and the place seems to be understaffed. To be sure, the staff is good and the food is good when you finally get it. You even see staff running in order to get their job done. We didn’t see any bus persons last night and the waiters were bussing tables. It appeared that 20% of the tables were unoccupied because they didn’t have enough staff to serve. We will probably not go back to the South Elgin location any more because it seems like a train reck. There are nice people there who seem to work hard. Come on Red Robin, hire some more staff so they can do their jobs.

I hate this location. Asked for a booth and was sent to a table. The restaurant was half empty! After waiting at a table for 15 minutes nobody had even come to our table to say hello. Staff was busy talking amongst themselves. Even the manager walked by and I ignored my wife and I. We walked out without even a word from the staff. Will never return.

Could not ask for a better night. Our family has a tradition when someone leaves town. If we goto RR they will return safe. My daughter is leaving for college tomorrow. I will say the service has been hit or miss. Tonight they hit it out of the park. Christine was awesome. Best service ever. She made the cook redo my egg so I had runny yoke. Whole family had a great knight.

If there’s one word to describe my dining experience here this evening it would be disappointed. I love Red Robin. I have had many positive experiences here, this evening was definitely lacking. What’s normally a quick and attentive service was somewhat slow and more relaxed than pervious visits. Having been to this location several times, I have come to expect a cheerful, efficient server. Immediately I noticed that while he was friendly, that next level of personable service was missing. To his credit, tables with small kids he did well talking to them and making them feel welcome. He did an alright job, however, bottomless speckled lemonade was only refilled once(despite being emptied). I did notice he seemed to be the only waiter for what seemed like quite a few tables given it was dinner time on a weekend. And about our napkins: we literally had to ask him for individual napkins after the place setting ones were soiled. He mentioned corporate was really watching what they spent? Not sure what to make of that. The food was alright in preparation. One very positive note: any of their fries are delicious! Garlic, steak and sweet potato all were really enjoyed! Another mark on an otherwise pleasant experience was realizing that for all that non-service I received, I still had to pay. Overpriced I felt, given the level of service and mediocrity of the food we received. I don’t know what happened this evening and I will gladly update this review and give it 1+ star(more hopefully) my next go around. For now Red Robin, you let me down and I hope this isn’t what I should come to expect.

I am usually a fan of the Red Robin chain, but boy was this location unpleasant. I also rarely give out one stars, but this place was a road bump throughout a day where we celebrated a birthday. Atmosphere: Typical Red Robin décor. You have been to one, you have been to all of them. I actually really do enjoy their theme. Lots of knick knacks and interesting things to observe. My favorite was the George Costanza painting with him on the couch. Yes, the painting of George from that episode! One thing that really turned a few us off was that the tables were kind of stick and that the Silverware wasn’t fully clean. Most of us were eating burgers, but Red Robin really needs to check their silverware before putting them out there. There was more than one set that wasn’t fully clean. Food: That particular Friday night wasn’t super busy, but I felt that the food was below Red Robin standards. My friend ordered sweet potato fries and they were cold! Also one thing I look forward to every time I go to Red Robin is their Freckled Lemonade. I received Lemonade with barely any of the Strawberry flavored fusion that I craved. At least I got my burger made just right. Fry service was lackluster at this location. They give you smaller portions and sometimes they aren’t fresh. Service: We did not expect to be at that particular location for almost 3 hours, but that is what ended up happening. We spent over an hour waiting for our food, and it took another 25 minutes to get our bill. We ended up missing our Thor 2 movie time because of the amount of time it took to get service. We had to wait another hour for the next showtime… We asked for a round of fries to hold us over, but no fries came until our burgers came. This service continued on with lackluster beverage service. This was also the first Red Robin waitress I have had that wasn’t friendly. The service wasted a lot of our time that could have been spent on celebrating the Birthday girl’s night. Red Robin has my respect when it comes to their chain. Just please save yourself some time and happiness by avoiding this location. I would have complained to the manager if it was my birthday that day.
