We came here for the first time today for some apples. What an awesome place. If you want to pick apples, they take you on a tractor ride in a wagon for a few minutes to the orchard. It’s fun and the orchard is huge with no shortage of high quality produce. Prices are great — less than $ 1/pound for apples. We picked 15 lbs for $ 9. You can also purchase pre-picked apples in bags for slightly higher prices. But I recommend taking the tractor ride and picking your own — lots of fun, educational for your kids, and you save money to boot! What’s not to like? Back at the ranch, there’s a store with lots of local products. Also a petting zoo with all kinds of fun little(and big) friendly and furry animals. Super place to bring young kids… they will love it probably even more than us big kids did! Friendly staff and just awesome Fall fun for the whole family. We’ll be back!

If you happen to be biking or driving through South Hero — Allenholm is a MUSTVISIT. It’s a bit of a «jack-of-all-trades» type place to visit. The owners are the nicest people ever, and this little place is more than it appears. The petting zoo and playground/tractor are great for kids. I also rented a bike with a chariot-style attachment to put my son in — it was a great price and the bike was perfect. Inside the farm they have the most delicious maple soft-serve ice cream — TRYIT! They also have a variety of jams/salad dressings/apple pies/snacks/etc etc.

We stopped here because we were exploring the island. We were expecting anything special but we were pleasantly surprised. The owners were friendly and very personable. My wife rented a bike from them and I purchased the most amazing soft serve ice cream I’ve ever had. They sell one flavor; maple. And it’s AMAZING. Go there for the best maple soft serve ice cream. The also had animals to pet and a small playground. There is a small food booth attached to the building that serves really good food as well.

APPLES!!! Hand picked and pick your own. Delicious. Many different varieties. They are one of the main sponsors of Applefest(Columbus Day Weekend Harvest Festival). They have a cute little store with all kinds of Vermont products: cheese, milk, fruits, jams and preserves, baked goods, and much more. My favorites are the fudge(just to the left of the counter) and the cider(in the cooler). The store has this wonderful just baked kind of smell. It makes it feel so warm and inviting. The smell is probably because of all the wonderful pies they bake. Some of the items are pricey but that is because they are quality and handmade products. Mr. Allen is often in there he is a nice guy and very much a grandfather-like figure. The staff are all really nice and helpful. It is a family run business. They also have a petting zoo outside the store. The animals are nice but a little smelly. For 25 cents you can buy treats to feed them. There is an old tractor for kids to play on and some toys in the yard also. This a great place to bring kids. Parking is right out in front of the store and there always is enough.

I love doing hokey things like going to pick berries and apples. And Allenholm is one of the best places in this area. They’re not charging an arm and a leg, and they have delicious produce. They’re the only place around that I know of that has sour cherries in the early summer. We’ve made the drive up to the islands for the past few years to get sour cherries in the summer. And we usually venture up again in fall for the Annual Apple Festival, of which Allenholm is always a big part. In addition to the orchards, they have creemies, a bakery, a little country shop, and a petting zoo for kids. Definitely worth the drive.
