This place is terrible. It is full of stoners from the collective next door. People were just stoned hanging out in the store there was no food in their display case. Nothing special about this place.

I love Hot Gossip! It is a must every time I am in Tahoe which is quite frequently. The breakfast burritos are delicious. I ask for it in taco-version. The staff are friendly and are talented cooks. I also get smoothies there, the emerald palace and berry bad boy are amazing.

Gossip never disappoints. A cool dude named Truman got me dialed in and made me feel at home. Recommended the«Out too late» breakfast sando on their homemade croissant, BOMB! My Americano was fantastic. I dig the local vibe with their art for sale on the walls, and seemed like everyone to walk through the doors had been there before. Too cool.

We found this great little coffee joint just walking around, and it was right next to our hotel. The food was very good and super FRESH. The coffee was great and the atmosphere was super chill. We were sad when we went on Sunday and it was closed :(

Yummmmm! The breakfast sandwich«Out Too Late» is sooooooooo delicious! Yummm yummm. They have heart shaped hash browns… enough said. Delicious AND made with love. Soooo good. Five Stars– for the«Out Too Late» Best breakfast sandwich I have ever tried in my whole LIFE. Four Stars– for the coffee… not my favorite. All in all, definitely worth trying. Really cool non conformist atmosphere. Nice staff. Great little spot. One of Tahoe’s hidden gems, for sure.

On a road trip stopped in here for coffee and breakfast and caught up on email. Everything was perfect. Highly recommend it.

I don’t mind Starbucks, and actually like the one at South Y Center, but it’s fun to visit this independent coffeee shop. The non-conformity ambiance is fine with me. Bringing enough cash for a sandwich and espresso does not take that much planning, so I don’t mind if the place doesn’t take credit cards. The artwork’s amusing. People behind the counter are nice enough. The Wi-Fi is a little complicated to set up the first time, but it works. Sandwich selections that I’ve tried and the espresso drinks seemed fine to me. It’s non-standard by corporate standards, but really, it’s just more entertaining. Plenty of parking, and a record/CD shop next door.

Cool atmosphere, friendly people and great coffee. This is not a San Francisco coffee bar, but rather a smaller town casual café that has a coffee shop vibe to it. Great place to get a bit to eat and/or get a cup of coffee from a local business.

My boyfriend & I went for a morning jog to get coffee. We wanted to get something local(i.e. NOT Starbucks), and we tried to find a different place we’d seen on Unilocal with great reviews, but it wasn’t there anymore. So we found Hot Gossip instead. The main reasons for my rating: it’s cash only(hello, it’s 2013… not too many people carry cash these days… luckily I had though) and the mocha’s we got were just ok. Not sweet at all. I don’t like really sweet drinks, but I also don’t like something as bitter as this was. We’ll try a different local spot next time we’re in Tahoe.

I almost avoided this place based on the name, but decided to give em a shot anyway, and as the cliché goes… I’m glad I did! Awesome little shop complete with a great iced white mocha, an awesome breakfast samich, a cool coffee shop dog, and a little kid runnin around in a slayer shirt rockin out! If you’re gonna get a breakfast sandwich, I recommend the Fred’s special, pictured here: .

Exceeded expectations, especially since I wrongfully«judged a restaurant by its storefront.» Their Breakfast Bagel, an open faced bagel sandwich with cream cheese and a delicious overlying sun-dried tomato scramble, really hit the spot(added spinach). And all this time, I thought I was the only fan of the occasional cream cheese with my eggs. Not hipster, but rather, hippie vibe, but still sweet. Good artwork. Comfortable ambiance. Cappuccino was closer to a latte but also surprisingly good/strong.

SOSOYUMMY! I absolutely loved everything about this place from the very first time I went in. I was new in town and just wanted a place to hang out on my laptop and have some coffee and food — which I did, and since then it has become my 2nd home. I first got a dirty chai and the california melt. SOGOOD! I was hooked(and my boyfriend had a slight obsession with the No Bake cookies and the Turkey Pesto Wrap — but now he loves the Spread The News;)) Since then I have gone through many favorites at Hot Gossip between the smoothies, breakfast & lunch options… not to mention, BREAKFASTALLDAY?! Awesome homemade soups and now so many new healthier options. Love. Also just love the good vibes, background music and real people that you meet in there. I have now heard the owner recommend myself and others to the neighboring coffee shop, Jazz Kat Café, on two different occasions when a customer was hungry for something she didn’t have. Who doesn’t love an honest businessman? And if it weren’t for the Gossip I would have never known what was up around town. They are definitely up on the social scene and where to go in town for good music, shows, nightlife and really anything. And if all that isn’t enough to make you fall in love, wait till you walk in on a Sunday afternoon to their free meal served every week. So awesome! Such an awesome place for the whole community. Love me some Hot Gossip :)

One of the worst coffee experiences in my life. Ignore the«local coffeeshop» bias in the other reviews. You’re going to be much more satisfied going to the nearby Starbucks. First thing, closes way too early. Second thing, their Wi-Fi took me 15 minutes to set up, and still didn’t work. Third thing, the Soy Iced Chai Latte I ordered I had to throw-away. Fourth thing, there was some rambling bum in there just hanging out. Fifth thing, bathroom was filthy.

The best breakfast sandwich I’ve had in years, Probably the best house coffee ever, and he was cool enough to give me it for free with my bagel. I will be back in the morning.

Opened the place up(9am on a weekday) Barista was sleepy & friendly. Had a double lattte and it was ok. Starbucks grade or even a bit less which was disappointing.(I have high standards for coffee so I doubt I’ll be back just based on the coffee.) Bacon breakfast burrito was fresh and yummy, a bit on the small side. Wifi worked well, plenty of seating.

It’s not that easy to find a good looking coffee shop in South shore. This one is. Their red leather on black chairs is a no brainer to start with. The Black and white floor is enough to send me to my happy place. Cozy and welcome place for locals to hang out. Non locals are equally welcome too:) Everyone knows everyone it seem. The lady who owns the place loves sustainable products and prides herself in organic offerings. Strong coffee. Chill place. One gripe I have? Their very weak and spotty wifi. We would have stayed longer and bought more stuff if the wifi is at least steady. But to me it’s a small problem until it happens again! So until next time Hot Gossip!

Glanced across the street from my hotel. Starbucks. Ewww. Parking lot behind my hotel, tucked away, a bit hidden, Hot Gossip. I’m always nervous when places make espresso and food – afraid that they’ve jumped the coffee bandwagon to make an extra buck and they really don’t know what they’re doing. But not the case here. Hot Gossip did a great job on my coffee. Fresh shots, frothy milk that wasn’t scalding hot and great flavor. The service from everyone in the joint was super friendly and laid back. Local art and interesting décor lines the walls. It actually looks a lot nicer on the inside than the outside. We ordered food, which was pretty basic, but tasty and not too expensive. Support the local guy and get your morning joe here!

Five stars for not being corporate crap coffee but rather a real coffee joint with organic espresso and great, if not slightly spendy, breakfast burritos and the like. You’ll see ingredients like fresh spinach, sun-dried tomato and avocado on their menu. Interesting art lines the walls and they play some pretttty sweet tunes.
