I came in here 1 day and I was walking around I was putting my debit card in my pocket. This older lady who works there with short blonde hair I think she’s a manager. She was looking at me suspicious for some odd reason! I thought it was very racist of her to follow me around and just kept staring at me like I have done something wrong. Every time I turned back there she was eyeing me!!! Ever since then I never went back. It was an awful experience that’s never happened to me before and made me feel awful.

I used to like this place until evreything started breaking/ripping. Such cheap clothing and expensive prices(some okay prices). Another huge downfall is they only do store credit for returns, even if it has tags still attached and never used. Terrible. I stopped coming here.

Not the local store’s fault, but the clothing is nothing but cheap junk! Three items I tried on either had a hole in them, or were coming apart at the seams. In addition, the staff seems to watch every move you make and follow you around like you’re gonna try to steal something. After I got home, I noticed one of the shirts I bought looked like it was going to unravel at the bottom seam, so my husband went back to return it. He was told that although we bought it with cash, the day before, and it had never been worn or anything, they would not give him his money back because they only do exchanges or store credit when you purchase items in the store(if you purchase something online, they’ll do a refund for you). My husband told her we didn’t want a store credit because the clothing all looks like it wouldn’t even last a week! All the employee said was«Sorry, it’s national store policy, and it’s posted on the bottom of your receipt.» I know California law states that a store’s return policy must be conspicuously posted at each register, or the entrance, order forms, counter, etc… something easily seen, that informs the customers of their policy BEFORE they purchase items. Maybe it was posted at the register, but if it was, it definitely wasn’t conspicuous because none of us noticed anything and there were three of us shopping that day! Small writing, at the bottom of your receipt, AFTER you’ve already purchased the items and are stuck with them, doesn’t do much good! Definitely will NEVER be back. Guess it’s back to shopping in Carson or Reno.

I live in the town of South Lake Tahoe Ca. My daughters and I have been shopping at our local Styles for Less for a number of years. The staff generally recognizes us when we visit. I also bring my daughters two friends in with us and often purchase something for them. One week ago the girls(4 of them) went to Styles for Less to shop, school was on vacation. They all had their wallets in hand. They were made to feel completely uncomfortable, being blatantly followed by staff,. My youngest daughter(The girls are 12 – 15 yrs old) purchased a shirt., while the other girls went to wait outside by the bench. The manager followed them outside and berated them starting her unfounded lecture to them with«I’m not accusing you of stealing, But you look really suspicious» She continued on to tell them that they would get a bad reputation in this small town,(What I ask, based on her accusation that they looked suspicious?) When I arrived home from work they told me how humiliated they’d felt. People were walking by while this manager was giving them a talking to. I packed up the girls and we went to speak with this lady to clear this matter up. As I walked in first she looked up at me with a sour face. Then she saw my girls trail in behind me. I asked her to please explain herself, she very Snottily defended her stance, including telling me that Most teenagers Steal! That they looked suspicious. I explained my stance. Teenagers are your bread and butter, you are geared toward the teen girl. These girls came in to shop and have a fun time, no to be harassed and put thru embarrassment especially for something they did not do nor ever planned to do. This manager of this store argued with me never backing down that she might have been out of line. I informed the manager that I will never shop at her store again and that I am strongly encouraging my girls to never shop there again. I have put a call into the corporate offices and greatly look forward to hearing back from them.

What do you do when you are in Tahoe for the weekend and you’re not skiing or boarding? Shopping of course! :) A couple of friends, and I had a whole day to ourselves to explore Tahoe so we did some sightseeing. After lunch we decided to do some window shopping. There was a small outlet strip mall near the restaurant so we stopped by. I had never been to a Styles for Less before so did not know what to expect. I would describe it as Juniors clothing at a discount. The fabrication is not the best quality but they carry trendy styles which aren’t meant to be worn for multiple seasons anyway. Their prices are pretty reasonable so it’s definitely worth a visit if want to do some non-snow activities in Lake Tahoe :)

I swung through here on a not-so-routine visit to the South Lake area and was surprised to find some really fun stuff hanging around. Unfortunately, I’m not referring to the staff. The floor girls were generally limp, either stone-faced in bubbly and in-your-face or just bored. The clothes were really fun, some kind of skeezy stuff, but hey, who wants to pay a lot for skeeze, anyway? The prices didn’t intimidate me, so I came away with a good experience. I got a couple of tees and a makeup case — very cheap, twelve bucks and I can fit my entire MAC collection inside! I’d advise avoiding the floor employees’ soul-sucking stares if possible, and looking for clothes by color. You’ll end up doing that anyway, the apparel and accessories are very vibrant and just cry for you to take them home.
