Came here for some late night food, and waited as the hostess was on a phone call. Upon being seated, I was given two waters. The food was ordered and I dived into my ice cold beverage only to realize something slid up the straw and into my mouth. I quickly spit out a small piece of food(see pic) and was disgusted. I stirred the second drink to discover this one also had debris along the bottom. At this point, I walked up to the server to cancel the food order. I discreetly explained the reasoning, only to be questioned as to, «Where is it??». Upon showing her, she angrily walked away without an apology, shouting to the kitchen to cancel the order. Accidents-some worse than others-happen, but as for customer service, this place gets a 0 in a 1 – 10 scale. Will NEVER return.

Super people and great diner food. Always stop in for bite and a cup of coffee or tea. My family are greeted warmly each and every time we come in. The new owners are great. Consistantl good food. Oh… they serve booze! Nice! A+++

Being from the diner capital of the US I feel like we all have a pretty good handle on being able to judge diners and their offerings. We were in the area and needed a quick lunch. It’s ok, the burger and fries were good, but the coleslaw was thick and tasted old. It’s just an average diner. Food was just average, service was average, and inside is slightly dated(and we noticed a bit of a musty odor). Prices were a little on the high side. We had a view into the kitchen from our seat and, well, were just not all that impressed overall. Doubt we’ll be back.

We went to the Park Diner last night. We sat down and my husband had an ant crawling on him. Next there was an ant crawling on me. We looked down and there were ants all over the table. We told the server and she walked away to tell the manager. The manager came up to me to ask what kind of bus were at our table. I told her ants. No apology from the server or manager. We asked to sit in a different room. She said that it was being saved for poker that was starting in a few hours. However, there were a few people in that room. We sat down and decided we didn’t want to eat at a place where us would crawl on our food but what really made us leave was that there was no apology. My husband would eat there once a week but NEVERAGAIN!!! shame on you for not even apologizing.

A lot of people resort to Denny’s or IHOP for a late night Grub. Do your self a favor, come here and have a Burger with Waffle Fries. It will be the perfect nightcap and night night you’ll go. Ever go Night Night!!!

Came here with boyfriend and his family after church on Sunday. We were a group of 5, and was seated in the back at a booth. I ordered a water and looked at the menu. They do breakfast all day and I should have got breakfast because I hear its even better than lunch, which was pretty good. I got the Reuben sliders with sweet potato fries. Three sliders LOADED with corned beef, dripping with melted Swiss, and piled with sauerkraut. A nice little basket of fries which I devoured because they were anazing. I want to go try breakfast now.

I always come here for food it’s the best but I had a yogurt basket and the blueberries were not fresh they were like chewy and hard texture after chewing them. I love blueberries and thieves were not fresh at all. Very sweet waitress I didn’t want to bother her it’s not her fault but come on chefs why?! –_–

I’ve been here a couple times because the food is great but some of the waiters here have no idea what they’re doing. Soup came with my meal and it was extremely messy. The soup was all over the plate, it seemed like they just served me trash. It looked so unappetizing and it came with a disgusting dirty spoon. I usually never have problems coming here but this ruined the whole experience.

I love the Park Ave Diner, especially around midnight when my friend and I grab a late dinner. The food is pretty good diner quality food and the staff is friendly and accommodating. I have been here during the day as well where there are more people and the service and quality of food is the same. When I go to diners I usually get a burger. My favorite burger from the Park Ave Diner is the pizza burger with fries and slaw. They cook the burgers to order and they temperatures are spot on so you don’t have to worry about raw or undercooked meats. The diner is clean around the tables and in the bathrooms. The waiters will take plates out of the way quickly so they don’t get cluttered on the table. All in all, the Park Ave Diner is a quality diner in a state where you can throw a rock in any direction and hit one. Since it is open 24 hours a day, you don’t have to worry about getting there at a certain time like other diners in the area, such as the Metuchen Diner or the Fountain Blue in South Plainfield.

Food and service was excellent. Very classic diner atmosphere lots of hokey wall décor but it was very clean and not overwhelming. Cannot recommend the food more. Florentine omelet and tomato eggs benedict were phenomenal. Would absolutely return.

Well… the night manager Anna was very rude to us concerning our desserts. We specifically asked our waiter Dylan for fresh slices of cake because the others looked as if they were sitting there for a while. She refused him and had him bring over the dry cake. When she came to our table to discuss the matter and the fact that we wanted it off the bill she refused us and proceeded to give us an attitude. Wasn’t kind at all. Upon leaving we asked to split our bill, she was up at the front desk, she got immediately frustrated with us through her hands and through the receipt and called over our waiter to handle it. Now my friends and I have been to this diner many of times, know many of the waiters by name, and have never received such treatment before. This has now completely turned us off from ever coming back. I suggest if you go this diner NEVER go at night. Ask if the shift manager Anna is there, and if she is just walk out.

Very inconsistent service, sent food back 3 times in a month. Sucks that south Plainfield has no where to eat, that’s the only way this place is still in business

Can’t give it anymore than 3 stars for now, as each visit throws a totally different experience at me. The food here is not bad, by any means, but more so inconsistent. The service as well, very spotty. I ordered the Jack Daniels burger, medium rare, it came out well done. Not even close. But it still managed to taste good. Another time, I ordered the Moussaka dinner special. They brought out a completely different order, that I had to send back. But the moussaka itself was great. You can never go wrong with greek food at a Diner. Overall, good for groups, good prices. But when it comes to the food and service, you may not get what you expect.

This place is a bit run down, the booth we sat at had very worn and cracked vinyl. Huge menu, but they were jacks of all trades, masters of none. They had TV with closed captioning playing sitcoms that was more distracting than entertaining. Started with the app combo. Mozz sticks were awesome and the marinara was good. They have these broccoli cheddar fried cheese things that were awesome. Unfortunately, the wings were small and poorly tossed in weak buffalo sauce. The chicken fingers were flat and tasted like tyson frozen sticks. Wife went with the french toast, which was thick and she got 3 pieces of it. BUT, fake corn syrup cam with it so we took that home. The waiter asked how she likes her bacon, which was good for her because she likes in incinerated. I had a cuban sandwich that was all kinds of weird. It tasted like ham steak and… something. Not roast pork, but not terrible. Honestly, I have no idea what it was. The cheese was not melted, there was some kind of white sauce in it, and the bread– no clue. It was a cross between pita and focaccia. Seriously weird. Also, the pickle was tasteless in the sandwich– but the one that came on the side with the coleslaw was good. Went with waffle fries that were very good. You could go here 100 times and not try everything, but nothing was good enough for me to say I need to go back here instead of 1 of the 100 other diners in the area. That said, it was one of the better diners I’ve been to lately in the area.

U went there for a pastrami sandwich(take-out). I found out why the food is so good. They taste it for you. Hence the bite in my sandwich when I arrived home. #refund #wontbeback. :-/

9 am On a Sunday. Nearly empty. Service was fine. Place was clean. The menu sounded killer good but failed to deliver. My wife’s eggs Benedict had hard yolks and a clearly powdered hollandaise. My breakfast burrito was sadly paninni steamed. It had wrinkles from the press but no brown marks from toasting. It was full of rubber eggs. The breakfast home fries were obviously left over potatoes. With the addition of salt and pepper, tasted Like salt and pepper. Also we didn’t dine alone. Several fruit gnats joined us. Maybe we caught them on a bad morning? Very low chance of return.

South Plainfield NJ is very close to a food desert. Yes there are a few gems here and there but in all not much to choose from. The Park Ave Diner is a nice, clean diner you could have a good meal in for a fair price. They use fresh vegetables in most of the dishes. The salads especially are very fresh. Most of the meat look to be frozen but prepared well. The burgers are very good. The fact that you can get a beer here is great! I have not done it yet but I will get to it. I would need to come eat AFTER work and not for lunch. If you need a local place to get a nice meal from a clean kitchen give the Park Ave Diner a shot.

I stopped in here for a quick dinner while traveling and I was very pleasantly surprised. I love diners and I try to go to as many good ones as I can. The service was quite good here and the food was very, very good. I got the pastrami sandwich and the meat was very tender and melted in your mouth. The portion was huge too and there’s no way I could finish it all. This is a solid diner and I’d definitely come back to try more food and to sample their desserts!

We drove far to get here just for the Unilocal reviews! The place was full on a Sunday morning which is always a good sign. We had red velvet pancakes which were delicious and I had the eggs benedict. Everything was really tasty and in big portions! Tea maybe not the best choice as a beverage. Would recommend.
