I only roomed here because the hotel I originally intended to stay at was overbooked. I would never ever dare do it again. The first thing that happens when I open the room was a moth flies directly into my face. I could not imagine what level of poor sanitation awaited me. The beds were fine, no sign of bed bugs. Yet the floor as well as the furniture showed poor signs of cleaning. The char in the room had clear visible stains. Nothing was going to go on that chair, luggage, clothing, nor skin. The walls showed coffee stains. Upon showering, the toiletries smelled offensive. There was some sort of leakage in the room, after showering, the floor was soaked. I encourage you to book ahead and book elsewhere.

This place is disgusting. I booked through Priceline… From trying to call the front desk staff on a broken phone, to the tire rims on the back lawn… This place is gross. I made it into the over perfumed cigarette room to find food in the bed(old rice). Don’t do it. The only nice thing is that they let me cancel my reservation… If you are just interested in location… It’s close to South Portland mall and lots of restaurants…

The staff was friendly, however understaffed. Also, the rooms smelled bad. like stale air and cigarettes. The windows do not open so that explains it. At least there were no bed bugs! I just expected more for the $$. At breakfast, everything was running low, and the coffee was not good. I feel bad because they only had 1 person who stocked the breakfast are and was running the front desk and answering phones. There was lots of free parking, and they did have a mini fridge which was nice.
This Econo Lodge was pretty nice; a lot nicer than the Econo Lodge than we stayed at before in South Portland, and much better than the Days Inn in Danvers, MA(near Salem). The balcony level floor is made of wood planks, so pulling your luggage makes an annoying clunk-clunk-clunk sound. It’s not next to the highway(thank goodness), because our previous hotel was, and it was very noisy. We were accidentally given the smoking room(the front desk person said that’s what we reserved), but we were able to switch to a non-smoking room quite easily. The bed was comfortable; mattress wasn’t too soft or firm, and sheets were soft. The non-smoking room looks remodeled, clean, new(er) TV/fridge cabinet and microwave. There was a newer side table, which was round, as opposed to the square one like in the other room, which was lopsided. In the bathroom, though, the staff had provided an anti-slip rubber mat to put in the tub, and the underside of the mat was gross(dark red/brown, like mold). The price was very good. we paid about $ 90 after tax(we booked on Expedia). The service was excellent! I had to print out a shipping label for a package I had to send; the lobby computer(which was hooked up to the printer) was down. At first, the front desk person just told me(when I asked) if there was a Kinkos or Staples nearby(there was a Staples), but after I went out to the car, and just as I was about to pass the lobby part of the building, she was standing outside, telling me that I could use her computer to print out my label.(Also, she didn’t charge me for it, which they normally would, if you printed anything in the lobby other than a boarding pass.) Since my package was getting shipped by US Postal Service, she said I could leave it with her(the postal carrier picks up packages – daily, I assume, as at many other hotels).
