I’m a vegetarian, so it’s always hard to find places that you love and don’t have the same boring salad. I got a pizza panini without the meat and the lady working was super nice and even lowered the price for me. I got the iced caramel latte which is very yummy. I look forward to coming to this place. It’s also a great place to do homework since its very quite.

This coffee shop is extremely spacious! The owner was extremely friendly and engaged my girlfriend and I in a lengthy conversation since we were the only ones in the shop. We both had iced vanilla lattes with almond milk. They were delicious! The price was cheaper than what you can expect for coffee shops in the area. I highly recommend this coffee shop!

I randomly wanted a sandwich and some iced coffee so I decided to see what I had near me. I pulled up Suga Mama’s Café which I’ve been wanting to try out for the longest. The place is very clean & has a chill vibe. The artwork they showcased was amazing, and I think it was made by local people. Their menu is quite small but each item is filled w detail. I decided to grab the iced chai latte & their most popular: chicken pesto panini :-) I couldn’t wait to eat this, and I was correct. It was exactly what I was looking for. Definitely coming back. It was a plus that my server was friendly, always smiling and very helpful; too bad I didn’t catch her name.

Went in this morning at 11:30am. No one was at the counter. After standing there for a couple minutes, someone seated at the couch said, «Oh, she’ll be right with you shortly.» She was referring to the one who was suppose to be manning the counter at that time. She’s not at the counter because she was ONHERCELLPHONE! We waited another 5MINUTES, and finally decided to leave! There was no one else in the café, except for the one on the couch. Not sure if that was another worker or just a friend of the worker on her cell phone. Either way, this shows this place does not put customers first! We will not bother coming back to this place!(The positive person in me thinks…‘Maybe that was a really, really important phone call’)

I tried this place a few weeks ago and it was so good! Great customer service, and my meatball panini was AMAZING! It’s definitely worth the drive from my house to get a cup of coffee from here.

The owner seems to take a lot of pride in preparing the food. She was quite diligent in ensuring the bagel orders were perfect.

I had a tasty chicken pesto panini for $ 8. You can get a lunch special with chips and a soda for $ 10. Not too many menu options though, from what I recall there was just paninis and salads. The place is extremely spacious — my favorite area is the lounge area in the back. They have Wi-Fi and a TV. Clean space, fast service, and comfortable seating. I’ll come back if I’m in the area. Also have parking spots in the back.

It’s so awesome to know that there’s a great café so close to my parent’s house! Those SSFHS kids are lucky to have it so close by. I parked across the street in front of Eggette’s. The light to cross takes FOREVER. You could probably play a whole game of Fruit Ninja while waiting for that light to turn green. My brother comes here a lot as he’s a student, and he comes here so often that he’s a regular. Man, it took me until my adulthood to be regular anywhere… I came in around 11am or so as I wanted a quiet place to work on my crochet. I was looking for a place that was close to my parent’s house that also had good tea. I was betting on Suga Mama’s to have non-Lipton tea, and they had Stash, which is also pretty good, but not the best tea. That’s okay, though, because the service, food, and general ambience of the place is excellent. Squashy chairs if you get there early enough. There were only three customers there, but I like how the owner made sure to be vocal about her actions. She took the order of the lady in front of me, and informed her that she would just take my order real quick and then would work on the lady’s drink. It sounds like a small thing, but that’s super important! If it were me, I would’ve really appreciated that, because then I’d know that I may have a bit more of a wait time, but I know why. I had a tea and a bagel with all the right delicious things on it: cream cheese, avocado, bacon, and sun dried tomatoes. OHMYTASTEBUDS! Because I had declared the day as a «I love myself and therefore I deserve delicious things» day, the bagel tasted amazing. I still haven’t found a proper bagel shop anywhere in California(they’re all in the east coast), but this one was pretty darn good. It might have been the toppings, but the bagel sandwich was so lovingly crafted that I simply couldn’t say no to it. Note that I came in at a weird time — after breakfast and right before lunch — so the bagel supply was limited. I imagine breakfast and after school they’ll have more options. I’ll have to stop by again and try the chicken pesto panini that everyone keeps posting about!

I’ve been to Suga Mama’s a couple of times since they opened and all I can say is that I like this café! Huge space, plenty of tables and lounge area with couches, free wi-fi, and lots of parking in the back. I’ve had their cappuccino and white chocolate mocha and both have been good for me. They also have a food menu with bagels and panini’s which I still have to try, and probably will since they look good from their Unilocal pics. If I was still in school, I’d probably spend a lot of time studying here. I wish them success in the future!

Great local spot to get good bagels along with a great cup of coffee. Service is fast and friendly. In addition a very good place to work, lounge with friends, and relax with comfy couches. Cool paintings on the wall and the space is new and urban. I’ve tried their chicken pesto panini and that is the .

Came here with a friend for lunch and I got the pastrami panini. Food was delicious and the service was great! I love the ambiance at this café, it feels cozy and welcoming. I would love to visit here more often if you hosted events like a poetry slam night or even just showcase art. Thanks again though!

The Good — Great food(The Chicken pesto panini was amazing! My friend had their milk shake, said was really really good) — Friendly service — Clean/cozy décor(a pretty nice place for lunch or just hang out for an afternoon) — Fairly priced(The Panini range from $ 5.50 to $ 8, and comes with either a bag of chips or an apple) The Bad — Parking(supposedly there’s a parking in the back… but it’s hard to locate) — Slow service(we went as a group of 3, each ordered a panini and one person order a smoothie. There were no other customers, but still took us a good 15 min to get our food and smoothie).

I will forgive the owner Mita for being out of Pastrami when we walked in around noon. I’m just playing though because I know how popular pastrami is, and it just gives me a reason to revisit Suga Mama’s Café. What I did order was the Chicken Pesto Panini. It tasted phenomenal. Hot chunks of chicken, parmesan cheese, sundried tomatoes, and pesto spread. Four ingredients that make for one orgasmic lunch. The sandwich was a very decent size was served freshly hot off the Panini grill. I was able to also sample some of my friend’s bagel with lox. It was basically a sandwich with a thick stack of lox, cream cheese, and capers. I’m not a fan of capers at all but I feel without them the sandwich wouldn’t have tasted as good. That’s two for two on the amazing sandwiches. The ambiance of the café is very smooth and relaxing. She has local artwork for sell on the walls, comfortable couches and chairs, and the vibe is easy going.

Kinda of obsessed with this place! Bob Marley, Michael Jackson and Mac Dre on the wall is always ok in my book! I ordered the pesto chicken panini(comes with a bag of chips) and a Nutella milkshake. Total of $ 13.50! Not bad. Milkshake was creamy and delicious and panini was crunchy on the outside and warm and gooey on the inside. Panini perfection. Must try this spot, coffee options also looked good. I’ll be back!

Looooooove this place. My favorite is the iced mocha chai. It’s not on the menu but it’s a chai made with chocolate milk and chocolate pumps. Super yummy! Yes she’s busy but it’s worth the wait. Her paninis are delicious! Chicken pesto and the big daddy paninis are our faves. Her smoothies are great too. My daughter goes there after school to do hw and eat or course and it’s a great place for both. Also a great venue to rent for parties AND occasionally she has evening events, like open mic night, that have been pretty successful. With all the chains out there it’s nice to have a mom and pop in the neighborhood that’s actually worth supporting!

Inside is comfortable and has chairs/tables to sit at. I had the peanut butter Nutella smoothie. It was amazing. I have to go back to have it again. I also had a chocolate scone which was good. The woman at the counter was very friendly and helpful. I recommend coming here to try that smoothie.

I’ve always been on a lookout for a coffee shop that opens around 6 am so I can get my caffeine fix before driving down to SJ for work. Most of the time it has been Philz or Starbucks but then I saw that Suga Mama’s is open at 5:30 am! The first time I came I parked in the back and the back door was locked so I had to walk to the front to get in. The owner said the backdoor is locked in the early mornings because she doesn’t know who might come in. So if you’re coming here in the early morning when it’s still dark, just park in the front. I like her chai tea latte– it was delicious. I may try other drinks but for now I order what I always get from any place(except Philz, their chai is no bueno). Oh and in the mornings it’s super empty. I always wonder if I’m her first customer of the day and if so. No need to open at 5:30 am! I also don’t come consistently cause I’d have to wake up 10 mins earlier and some days I just can’t– I want that 10 mins. Anyways, try it out. It has a nice lofty industrial chic modern feel to it :)

I am always in the scope for my «just perfect» café. I think this may be my new one, please just don’t get overly crowded and noisy so I can enjoy my cup of hot/cold beverage while working or doing whatever I may be here for. I happened to stumble upon this spot since my girlfriend mentioned it, and I remembered always wondering what kind of public retail would be opened in that new apartment building next to South City High. It has an airy, lofty like, artistic and clean tone to this place. I love the parking lot in the back which leads you to a door right into the café. It is fairly new so I am hopeful. Since there is a high school literally steps from the café, this place could be a youngster hangout, but definitely a good spot for this kind of business. The bf and I walked in and was greeted by two women, very friendly and warm. They were explaining certain menu’s as they are still in the testing stages, I tried ice chai(for the first time) and the bf something smoothie(I forgot, but it was good). I met the owner Meta, she’s warm, friendly and pretty laid back. She and her worker were like bff’s, it’s refreshing that they have such good synergy as worker and owner. I chitchatted with Mita for a few about possible venture in the future. This is why I love small businesses, it’s home grown and they really try to engage, well, not all owners are as engaging, but it is always refreshing to see new and young business owners get to know their customers. Meta was nice enough to let us taste a sample of their currently«perfecting stages» ice drink creation. It’s Andes chocolate mint on coffee! Yum! She gave us each 2 test samples, and it sure perked us up! I am craving it right now, might pick some up today. I called it Chocolate mint Ice coffee! I will be back soon and I’m looking forward for this business to blossom. Support small businesses! Ciao Bella. Jules

New café on the ground level of the new apartments next to South City High School. Went to check it out today and saw that it’s pretty big! Helllla seating! There were two workers there and a good amount of people chillin’. They sell paninis($ 5), smoothies, coffee and pastries. I expected to see a lot of pastries since it’s obviously called«Suga Mama’s» but their pastry display was depressing with like 6 items that were ehh. They did have gingerbread, croissants, and muffins. As it just recently opened, I plan to come back as it is still in its«opening» phase.
