I love this place! I have yet to order anything other than ice cream because this may very well be the best ice cream I’ve ever had. It is so creamy, fresh, and flavorful. It’s almost like a completely different food than the tubs you get at the grocery store (even you, Ben and Jerry’s) because the quality at Jem’s is mind boggling. I have picked up fresh produce during the summer and been delighted with that as well. I can’t believe I only learned about this place within the last year — to anyone looking for incredible ice cream, the friendliest customer service available, super fresh produce and an all around fantastic food experience, you need to check this place out!

The ice cream is delicious. Sad to say that I haven’t tried any of their lunch options yet. They have different flavors of ice cream that rotate in and out. Graham cracker flavor is so good! They have fun sundaes and additions to ice creams. This is where I go whenever I want ice cream.

So while the menu isn’t that big… how many roadside ice cream stands are there anymore? And with a farm stand attached? Ice cream was great. My girls had the Oreo sundae and I had the PBJ sundae… will definitely be back!

Amazing little place. Brought our dog and they gave us a pup cup! It was so nice to have something like this near me in Vernon! I loved the ice cream and now I want to go back for the shakes!

Glad I found this on Unilocal!My family and I wanted to get some impromptu ice cream on a summer Sunday, but felt like trying a new place. Unilocal served Jem’s up, and it was a winner… a low-​key farmstand seemingly in the middle of nowhere in South Windsor, but with a nice selection of ice cream, shakes and unique sundaes (I got a shake, but I need to try the peanut butter and jelly sundae). We’ll definitely return.

Best lemonade around! I mean it! I’m not a big lemonade fan usually, but Jordan and Ellen have converted me with their fresh-​squeezed recipe. And my new favorite sandwich is a custom Popper with turkey and bacon on a Portuguese onion roll. So much flavor!

This spot is super special. You are literally eating on the side of the road and at picnic tables. Definitely a family friendly spot.
I’ve never seen such a list of creative sundaes. A straight-​up cone or cup will definitely satisfy. They do both sorbet and dairy very nicely.
About 10 real places to sit but plenty of room to run around or pull out a blanket.
Apparently, there’s a streak of women coming here, getting a milkshake, and going into labor soon afterwards. So this might be your spot, ladies!
Also, they served free ice cream to mothers on Mother’s Day. Presumably, they have similar deals for similar holidays, so be sure to check them out.

I did not get the ice cream I got the fusion but it was still really good! The fresh cherry strawberry fusion was light and fruity, and the raspberry creamsicle was nice and citrusy. The smoothies were crisp and refreshing with a wide variety of fruits and bases to choose from. No syrups or artificial sweeteners in the smoothies either! It was a good price with picnic tables. Also had bubbles, toy cars, and a frisbee. Clean and service was friendly and polite.

Very cute place and staff are really friendly. We had ice cream but they sell sandwich too (we didn’t know). Ice cream is really yummy. I wish they had more flavor but I think space is limited. Will definitely be back to try some sundae!

J.E.M.S. …Where do I start?! I had been driving past a small Farmstand on the side of the road month after month, but always curious about what it had to offer. One day, two years ago, I decided to pull into the lot, and I was instantly hooked! I got a turkey panini and a apple/​banana/​kale/​spinach smoothie and OH MY. Jem’s is now my go-​to spot whenever I want a REAL fresh fruit/​veggie smoothie — no purees or syrups here! Jordan and Ellen run the stand along with some other family members and their sweetheart personalities are a perfect combo for the delicious treats that they serve up! There’s that small business feel here that you have to love and they seem to remember everyone’s first name! :) The ice cream is excellent too. I haven’t had the soup but I’ve heard great things about it also. A 5-​star rating well-​deserved, this place is definitely a «must try!»

Today was our first visit to Jem’s and I just loved this place! Great food (we had the turkey panini), ice cream (strawberry has real strawberries — as it should!), and conversation. We got to talking with the owners during our visit and found out they typically have a produce stand, home-​made pies (we ordered one before we left) and even Christmas trees. Will be heading back tomorrow for pie pick-​up and most likely more ice cream! Very happy we found this place.

Down home creamery/​dairy with the best and freshest ice cream around!!! The source is local from a farm in Simsbury, Connecticut and it shows. Unbelievable malt shakes, fresh fruit smoothies and fantastic ice cream. The mother/​daughter team will put a smile on your face and the ice cream makes it even bigger. This place is well worth the effort — your sweet tooth will thank you.

Great local place right down the street. Excellent ice cream and fresh produce. I recently bought pies for thanksgiving and was very impressed by the high quality and superb taste. Ellen and Jordan are so friendly, they remember customers and their orders regularly. I can’t wait to try some of the soups and sandwiches they have on the menu!
