This place has one of the best clam chowder I’ve ever eaten! Extremely creamy and thick! The service was superb and it made the dinner very enjoyable. Can’t wait to come back and have the clam chowder again! The seafood lobster dinner was also very good, it came with steamers which surprisingly wasn’t very sandy. I’ve also had the fried whole clam belly and they gave us a generous portion! See you soon!

Stopped here with my girlfriend after looking at all the positive reviews and upon arrival there was a line to get seats, then we were told there is about an hour wait until we were seated. We decided to wait since there was nothing else around and we didn’t feel like driving. We walked across the road to Parkers River beach to enjoy the sunset and take in some ocean breeze while we waited. I got also got a beer at the bar during the wait time and I sure did enjoy every last drop my $ 5 corona. When we got seated our waitress had an attitude and didn’t greet us and we also didn’t get out drinks until 10 minutes later after sitting down… and it was just water! As this restaurant is famous for seafood we ordered the lobster roll and crab roll. My girlfriend had the lobster roll but it was decent she said she’s had a lot better. My crab roll was bland and watery. The bread was soggy and it fell apart when I try to pick it up. I ended up eating my crab roll with a fork and pushed my soggy bread aside. The clam chowder was good tho and the little ice cream shop by the entrance was what gave it 2 stars cause I love ice cream after dinner!

Based on reviews we had read we thought we had to try Skippy’s. We did say we had no waiting, but off season, midweek after storm Joaquin had come through. Our waitress was very personable and service was prompt and friendly, that said one waitress was very loud and most disruptive to conversation as she spoke in what I think she perceived to be a friendly banter. It came off as rude and off putting to those of us having to listen. We were started off with a bread basket that had some of the most delicious pumpkin bread in it you will ever eat! We ate the crumbs from the basket. I was torn between the salmon special salad and the house scallops. I deferred to the waitress for a suggestion. I am sure some people like the scallops but to me the cheese, bacon, topping was overbearing and took away from what might have been a great scallop. The squash was sweet and if the garlic potatoes had garlic, we did not taste them. That said, they were a good mashed potato. My friend had a stuffed fish he enjoyed.

One of the best clam chowder soup in a while. I got the lobster roll, which did taste good but was on the pricey side. We also ordered lobster, it did become messy while eating but it was worth it. The ambiance and the service is also good. We could not get a seat on the second floor but the host told us about the amazing view from there. Highly recommend this place for Clam Chowder

No pic for this review. Nothing we ate was worthy of one. I had fish n chips that was as greasy as any I’ve ever had. The fries were under cooked and greasy, my wife had the small lobstah roll. Looked good but lacked any real flavor. She said it fell flat. We ordered onion rings for the table, again GREASY. Service was ok but nothing to write home about. Overall it was ok but don’t go out of your way to come here.

Stopped in for a dinner last night with my bf. We didn’t have reservations so the wait was about 30 mins for a party of 2. We were seated upstairs on the deck. Just some quick points: PROS Outside seating was nice They have an ice cream shop right next to the restaurant Bread basket is good Fried clam chowder is very different and good CONS Service was poor. We were seated and given menus but our waitress didn’t greet us for about 15 mins. Even after we had closed our menus. I asked one waiter if he was our waiter(since I saw him serving the folks next to us). He very dryly responded«no.» And walked away! Didn’t say«no I’m not but I’ll get her for you» or even«someone will be right with you.» Then I realized our waitress was actually at another table taking the orders of ppl that were seated after us. She noticed how bothered I was and came to us; however that def left a bad impression. Food was bland. I ordered the skippers sampler. Scallops and fish had no flavor. The bf ordered the prime rib which looked good. With so many other great spots in the area i don’t see myself ever coming back.

We went here on a whim after arriving to cape cod for our honeymoon. We were craving lobster, and we weren’t disappointed here. The lobster steam pot was amazing. It had a giant lobster with steamers, muscles, roasted corn on the cob, little red potato, smoked sausage(I don’t know what that was doing in there but it was still delicious!). Our waiter was a really young guy but super friendly and offered a variety of fun things to do around here. The red sangria was eh, not very good and 90% ice. Our dinner was fantastic though. It was around $ 31 per person for our dinners, which seemed like an average price. We would go back. :)

With such great reviews. how could we not go to Skipper?! It’s not a fancy place but typical Cape Cod if that’s what you desire. Parking is available. traffic is plentiful on the way there. They unfortunately take NO reservations so we just showed up and hung out at the bar for about an hour. The bar is upstairs. there are table seating outside. and it was crowded on a summer weekend. We got a table around 8 pm… I would highly suggest eating seafood(else you’re really in the wrong place). We tried: — Oysters(no New England trip is complete without it) — Lobster Ravioli(it’s good but still Rino’s in Boston has my heart for the best lobster ravioli EVER) — Steamers(this is so awesome) I know my friends had good French fries. didn’t hear anything about the lobster but I am sure it was good. The only problem of this place was that they were trying to rush us out to leave around 10 pm. If they hadn’t seated us so late, we wouldn’t have this issue. So from four stars to three stars. I think for the price. it could look a little nicer.

Decent food, but overpriced and fairly uninspired. My family went for lunch after a morning at the beach, hoping the good reviews would lead us in the right direction. Despite a good clam strip roll(tough to mess up), the rest of our meal was mediocre. My wife’s scrod was overcooked and tough, and the homemade chips tasted a bit stale. Nice waiter and so-so ambiance on the deck overlooking the beach. Still, we won’t be hurrying back.

A quintessential New England food — that would be my brief summary. Excellent New England Clam Chowder — thick, honest, with lots of clams and nothing extra — it is not for nothing this Clam Chowder is a triple crown winner(Boston, Cape Cod and Newport chowder fests). We ordered appetizer of the onion rings — they were perfectly cooked and delicious. All the entrée were excellent — baked seafood sampler, fish and chips, lobster roll. Note that all the portions are good size, so go easy with the appetizers — after Clam Chowder, of course. Restaurant accepts no reservations, so get there early, around 5PM or even earlier — this will minimize your wait time. Also, keep in mind that Friday and Saturday are the busiest days(duh, I know). Highly recommended for your Cape Cod dining experience.

This place was great! We stayed in Hyannis on the Cape and came over here one night for dinner. My husband got oysters, chowder, and a lobster roll. I got a salad and the calamari with onion rings. The onion rings were SOOOOO good! They will do them as a side, you don’t have to commit to the entire appetizer. My husband said the chowder was better than other ones he had tried in the area. I thought the prices were reasonable and the atmosphere casual and comfortable. We both agreed we would come here again when back in the Cape!

Gster and I were on the Cape for a night. We wanted to try somewhere new, but also relatively affordable, with a good view. On the cape, this is sometimes surprisingly hard. We arrived at Skipper’s and had an hour wait to be outside. We walked across the street to the beach(a little sketch… I was glad i kept my shoes on and wasn’t in a bathing suit), and then grabbed a drink at the bar. It was a relaxed atmosphere, and felt like you were on a boat, and certainly had a «Cape» feel. We were seated much earlier than the anticipated hour, and had a great view of the beach. I ordered the special, of a Ritz crusted cod with seasonal vegetables and rice, and Gster got Oysters and the famous fried chowder cakes. I was less than impressed with my overall meal. The Ritz crust was red, the cod was dry, the vegetables seemed frozen, and the rice was dry. Gster really enjoyed his chowder cakes. We both rated the bread as 5÷5… they had the best moist cornbread like but apple flavored bread. Our service was rushed, and the drinks came slow. The waiter was a «bro» and wore his hat backwards, and forgot our dessert menu. When asked what the difference was between the oysters, he said, «you know, they all taste the same to me. I don’t really know!». He was actually pretty comical.

Enjoyable take out from this popular venue. We tried the fried chowda, lobster roll and grilled scallop salad. All made fresh to order and done quite nicely. There’s long waits for dinner time but folks don’t seem to mind. It’s across from beach so u can get a nice view while waiting outside if not terribly hot. Decent menu selection w something for everyone.

Oh my gosh, what a horrendous experience. First off, I can never trust a restaurant that boasts a triple crown of awards for their clam chowder. Let’s be real here, all Cape Cod seafood restaurants have great chowder, but only a select few have incredible chowder. Sure, theirs was good, but it wasn’t anything to write home about(just to write negatively on Unilocal about). We decided to eat here on July 4th because it was right across from the resort we were staying at, and boy what a mistake that was. The restaurant was only half filled at 3PM, but the service was as if there wasn’t an available seat in the place, and the establishment was extremely short staffed. Not only was the service slow and distant, it just didn’t make any sense. We weren’t told about a lack of free refills until we asked(75% ice in a soda and no free refills, seriously?), and we had to flag our server down to get bread brought to the table. On top of the garbage service, or lack thereof, my gf’s «potato skins» were just halved potatoes with completely raw bacon on them. When we pointed this out to our horrible server he just brought new ones, and didn’t seem to notify management or offer any type of credit to the check. When we spoke to a manager at the end of the meal we were greeted with excuses for the slow service, and still nothing in the way of decent service. A restaurant should never make excuses for bad service, and they shouldn’t ever treat their patrons like a burden. If I ever have an opportunity to come back to Skipper, I’ll make sure to pass, and you should too. There are wayyyyyy too many better options on the Cape.

Yeah, yeah, I know, Skipper places a cheesy ad in a tourist magazine that anyone can pick up. Just get over the ad like I did. Skipper is great, and I say this after I am done with a Cape Cod trip, meaning after comparing quite a few meals at Cape Cod. We ordered a Lobster Steamed Pot(market price, and we paid $ 31), a Clam Chowdah($ 8 a bowl) and a Fried Chatham Clams(market price, and we paid $ 21). Firstly, the key success factor of steamed seafood is not cooking skills but the freshness of the ingredients. In this matter, Skipper passed with flying colours. The lobster pot came with a steamed lobster of a minimum of 1.5lb(ours was definitely over 1.5lb), steamers, mussels, a corn, a sausage and some potatoes. The lobster was meaty and it tasted like it was alive just the morning of. The steamers(i.e. steamed soft shell clams) were to die for. They tasted so sweet. If you cook, you know how fast clams die, and steaming is the worst way to show off rotten clams. On the flip side, steaming brings out the utmost sweetness of fresh clams. I could chow down a dozen of these babies, and I would choose them over fresh raw oysters. These clams were that good. The sausage tasted like an Italian sausage yet infused with a heavy dose of sugar. The strong flavour contrasted well against the natural flavours of the shellfishes. The mussels and the corn were standard. Last words are this entrée was huge in portion. Bring an appetite or prepare to share, cause you don’t want to doggy bag steamed shellfishes. The clam chowder here is award winning. In fact, it is a triple crowned champion. The bowl I had, the texture was so thick that it could almost, just almost, keep a spoon standing. It was loaded with lots of clam bits. There were clam bits in every spoonful I had. And I could really taste the clam flavour in the creamy base. Oh yes before I forget, the cook here used mostly cream instead of starch powder to thicken the chowder, and you would taste the difference. One Boston Unilocaler told me that if I ordered fried clams, people would think I was a local. So I did. These clam were really fatty. The clam bellies tasted like cooked oysters bellies. The batter was crunchy. The cook didn’t add any flavour to the batter, so I added salt and lemon juice. Otherwise, the fried clams were like other fried food, so nothing was earth shattering. Yet having the fried clams was a good experience that I know can’t be easily matched outside of New England. This is because of how fresh and big the clams are in New England. Here you have it, a glowing review from me on the food. The services was fast and courteous. And the prices, after comparing all the meals I had in P-Town, Hyannis and Chatham, are on the lower end. Mind you that prices are very similar in the Cape, regardless that you buy from a food stall or a restaurant. Prices here are most definitely competitive given the freshness and the portion.

We were on the Cape for a day trip and stumbled upon this gem! There was a marathon going on the day we were the luckily we still scored a table outside on the patio. The whole experience was awesome. It was a beautiful day to be outside and we had great food to go along with it! We got the Wicked Lobster Roll($ 24) and the Big Lobster Roll($ 28) They were expensive but totally worth it! When the meal was done I was bursting at the seams with the sweet succulent red lobster meat. Their onion rings were good too! If you are in the Cape do not miss this place!

We ordered the cold platter to share, which ended being pretty reasonably priced for three people. It was very fresh(the shrimp was GIGANTIC and amazing), and high quality. The cold platter however probably wasn’t a good choice for us though, we didn’t enjoy it as much as we might have something hot. Speaking of hot, they had really good chowder. Cute restaurant(decked-out nautically), great view, however we sat at a table near the door where it was pretty dang cold. The waitress Peggy also was very sweet.

I am a fussy person when it comes to sea food! We ordered the award winning Fried Clam Chowdah — it was sooo crispy and yummy. i loved it! The Fish and Chips and Jumbo Fried Shrimps were crispy, crunchy, fresh and delicious! The best thing about this place is that the portions are huge and filling. we couldn’t finish whatever we ordered and the price is reasonable! Would surely visit again if i come this side!

(8÷7÷14) This was the first and best place we ate dinner the entire trip to the Cape(and that’s saying something b/c we ate out every meal!). Skipper’s is the kind of place you can take a bunch a different people with all different taste preferences and EVERYONE leave feeling they had a good meal. I admittedly have a lot of difficult people in my family(one is a pescatarian that only wants fresh caught fish who likes to support local business, and parents that are primarily chain restaurant eaters w/a meat and potatoes stepdad, and a diabetic mother), it’s hard to find a place we all want to eat w/o a brawl starting. Skipper’s satisfied all our desires thankfully. My sister and I tried the raw oysters; we tried the Dennis/Yarmouth varieties. Very tasty… fresh. yumtastic! Some also had to try their clam chowder since it was presumably award winning. ANDITABSOLUTELY was the best chowder we had ever had in addition to the other places we tried during the remainder of our trip. My stepdad had fish and chips(he had this at almost every restaurant we ate at this week). The fish fillet was enormous on a bed of crispy fries, a side of coleslaw and tartar sauce. My mother and sister had the baked stuffed sole which was a large portion of heavy stuffing stuffed sole with veggies and baked potato. I had the baked schrod which was perfectly cooked, lemony. All in all it was way too much food BUT that’s what most people want when on vacation… indulgence. And the quantity didn’t bring down the quality. We were too full for dessert but there was a little ice cream, soft serve shack in front that looked very appealing. The place was bustling, noisy but not enough to make you want to leave for fear of losing your mind. The service brisk and friendly, despite the NUMEROUS questions from me and my family. This is not a dress up sophisticated, clinking of wine glasses kind of place. I’d def. come back here again.
