Springhill Suites by Marriott Detroit-Southfield

This hotel definitely exceeded my expectations. Everything from the customer service to the cleanliness of the room was amazing. It was a great gesture to be greeted every time I walked into the lobby and always asked how my stay had been so far. The complimentary breakfast was exceptional. In comparison with many of the hotels I’ve stayed at, this was definitely a top notch place to stay. It genuinely made me feel like home and I definitely appreciated that. All in all, this will definitely be my go-​to hotel every time I’m in Michigan, which is a minimum of twice a year. Thank you guys!

We stayed here while visiting Detroit recently for a long weekend. While staying in the suburbs isn’t normally how I like to roll, I couldn’t beat the price of the room. Our room was comfortable, though if have always been perplexed by how stingy hotels can be with towels. And the three towels we had were kind of small and not very soft.
Our room had one of those iPhone alarm clock docking stations, which seemed cool, though we don’t have iPhones. There was also a decently sized fridge we could store our leftovers in.
The staff were friendly. Breakfast isn’t bad, and the waffles were actually pretty good. Look below the counter for yogurt. If you miss breakfast, there is a Tim Hortons next door. The dining room is a bit small, and I couldn’t find a seat one morning, so I had to take breakfast back to my room. The front desk would randomly have a bowl of Chuppa Chups out, and then it would disappear. But when it was out, that was pretty cool.

My first time here, staff are very nice and very helpful. The place going thru a renovation so parking was weirded out but that will done am. What I am unhappy about is tv movie system… I tried to buy what I thought was a $ 4.99 movie and I got was a $ 15.99 ripoff. And while it was down loading the movie, the company was telling me that if I tried to stop it I would still charged and if I turned off the TV I would lose the movie and still be charged!!! So I called the front desk for help and all they could do was offer sympathy. Said the movies come from a different co. And they had no control or suggestions.

We had a very nice stay at this hotel. They let us checkin early (like 6 AM) and didn’t charge us extra… thanks. The weight room is quite nice with all new free weights, elliptical and treadmill plus a weight machine. The pool (indoors) was a bit cold for my kids but the hot tub was great. Breakfast was above average but not as good as the embassy suites that we were going to stay at. The room was quite nice for our family of 5 — 2 full sized beds plus a pull out couch. Very good value. Also they are right next to a tim hortons so that makes it nice to grab a snack.

This was our fourth stop on our cross-​country trip and fourth Marriott owned hotel that we’ve checked into. By now, we’ve come to expect certain things like complimentary Wi-​Fi and breakfast for all guests.
This hotel was a little smaller and older than the other three we’ve been to previously. Check in time was at 3PM, however when we got there quarter til 4, our room still wasn’t ready. We had to wait until 4PM to check in because they were in the middle of installing flat screen televisions. There was one elevator to service all three floors. Many times we’d have to wait two rounds just to get in the elevator. I can’t begin to imagine the wait for the elevator during check-​in and check-​out times.
The pool was also small. I was a little disappointed in breakfast as there was no protein choices like bacon or sausage. Instead there was biscuit and gravy. They had waffles, oatmeal, and assorted bagels and muffins.
Nothing much around the hotel within walking distance. There was a small plaza next door where we were able to eat lunch and get coffee in the morning.
A solid three stars.

I have had the good fortune to have the company I work for choose this establishment as the place we stay when we come into town. The rooms are always spotless, the morning breakfast is a nice extra, the pool, hot tub and the exercise room another bonus, but the REAL draw is the staff. The employees here make me feel like I am a guest in their home. We laugh and giggle, and if anything is wrong with the room, they are quick to make it right. It’s a great place to stay.
