ZEROSTARS the waitress makes up her own rules for unlimited sushi and we didn’t get the food we ordered. I would not recommend. If you’re in the area I’d go across the street to Noble or to Komo in Waterbury for unlimited sushi.

When it comes to both quality and selection this is my favorite all-you-can-eat sushi venue thus far. Everything we ordered was fresh and absolutely delicious. Also loved that they have both fried banana and ice cream on the dessert portion of the menu… no better way to end a night of sushi than with a nice little combo of hot banana and chocolate ice cream in my opinion! Frankly, I didn’t find the service to be as bad as some people have been stating. In my experience the staff was pretty on top of card collection and replacement, and got our food out in a timely manner. They weren’t as on top of the water refills, but it’s not like any of us are paying for a 5 star dining experience. I flagged a server when they were bussing a table, was acknowledged, and my request for more water was taken care of pretty quickly… better service than I’ve gotten in some more reputable places. If you come here with the expectation of stuffing yourself full of deliciousness at a fraction of the price you would pay ordering the same rolls at a regular sushi restaurant, you will be very pleased.

The waitstaff is horrible! They rush you to order, and are extremely RUDE! Clearly they are not happy that you came in. The chef was asleep on the bench where the customers are seated for habachi, when we first arrived, which should have been a sign to walk out. The women who took our order never asked if we where ready to order, and rudely asked what we wanted. I will never return. If your looking for a nice place to eat it is not here! I wouldn’t even give it 1 star but, won’t let you post the review with out giving a star!

The staff here are so miserable. I stopped coming to this place because of that. I decided to try it again and it hasn’t changed a bit. The sushi was fresh but small portions. The miso soup was very watered down. I’m done with this place, It’s the last time I’ll be back.

All you can eat special rolls/maki rolls/sushi/appetizers for $ 17.95 weekdays… great deal!

We drove 30 minutes to get to the restaurant and I don’t feel it was necessarily worth the commute. Their«all you can eat» menu had a really good variety and the sushi itself was good, thankfully. The price is $ 19.95, which is excellent considering that just two of the«fancy» rolls I ordered would cost that amount anywhere else. The rest of the food that I tried was pretty basic, the hibachi rice was a bit bland for me and the spring rolls were soggy on the bottom and were also pretty bland. I did really enjoy the chocolate fried ice cream. The décor was pretty decent & it seemed clean. The outside of the restaurant however is really run down. Had my friends not been there before, I would never have stopped on my own free will in passing. Part of the reason stars were docked was because it was definitely not a friendly environment. The two waitresses that we interacted with did not even try to be welcoming or friendly. I don’t think we saw them smile one time. We had to ask for our water to be refilled and every time we asked to order something, it was like it was a burden. …first impressions are everything!

The outside looks dark and the landscape is not kept up but I only come here for all you can eat sushi. Very cheap and quality is always good. Do not expect the service to be top notch

Wonderful menu, great prices and very fresh food. I’d love to give 5 stars but Tokyo really needs to work on their customer service. I always feel like I’m a burden to the servers when I ask for anything. They just seem miserable and robotic. If they could just fake a smile and practice some manners I bet their business would be booming(and their tips would probably see an increase.)

Given the price, I really couldn’t ask for more. The quality was really excellent compared to other AYCE establishments, and unlike most places the menu includes sashimi so you don’t have to fill up on rice. The special rolls are creative and delicious. For only $ 20 a head, I definitely felt like I got my money’s worth without having to gorge to the point of pain and self-loathing, which left room at the end for green tea ice cream! Withholding one star for service. The wait between orders was a little long due to poor response from the waitresses who seemed angry to have to deal with us. But food was great. Will for sure be back!

The Southington area of Connecticut seems to be getting hit by a rash of formerly great Japanese restaurants slowly degrading due to going all you can eat. I ate at Tokyo for years before they started trying to compete with Sushi Palace in Hamden and started their All You Can Eat menu. It was reasonably priced sushi of reasonable quality with service that is always substandard. Then All You Can Eat started… The quality of the non-sushi food on the menu started the suffer as it was rushed out for those ordering off the slips. Then the quality of the sushi itself began to suffer as well. The service… continued to be horrible. The wait staff seems to be angry that you exist and only get more angry the more they have to deal with you. My last visit to Tokyo sushi involved me being part of a small party of two. We both ordered All You Can Eat and had to deal with the usual poor service: visibly angry wait staff, wait staff that magically leaves out half the things you order randomly, food coming out at weird random times. When we were finished, we motioned to the wait staff repeatedly that we were done and they could have their table back for new diners. The wait staff, as they are inclined to do, ignored us. This continued for close to 40 minutes. So when the check came, we paid for our meals and left no tip. It’s not the kindest of action, but we just spent 40 minutes trying to get them to just simply bring us the check, not counting all the other poor service we received during our stay. On the way out of the restaurant, the head waitress(and I believe owner) grabbed us by the arm and began screaming at us that we need to pay«Service Tax.» No, we do not. If you want«Service Tax,» then you have to provide service. We will not be returning to Tokyo. There are cheaper places where we can pay to experience eating in public in front of people who detest our existence,

The all you can eat sushi menu on weekdays is definitely worth the price. For less than 20 $ all the unlimited sushi you want. Keep some space reserved for the green tea ice cream!

At first I wasn’t sure if I selected the correct place, then I read the other reviews mentioning lackluster service and knew it had to be the same place. Again, the sushi is, indeed, very good. The restaurant is clean. The servers, however, are slow and not the friendliest. I wanted to be the better person and overlook this, but I had to shave off two stars because a.) when my friend and I went there it was winter and I slipped and nearly fell flat on my face because they couldn’t be bothered to throw some salt down on a patch of black ice not too far from the door, and b.) the waitress apparently didn’t like her tip and chased after us to ask for more money. These two things made us decide to stick to other locations for the all you can eat sushi special.

As a previous review mentioned, I too have mixed reviews for this restaurant. The food is always fresh; sushi is never stale-like and the hibachi has never been over salted. Their ginger dressing is delightful(you can purchase a pint to go and enjoy at home!). Unfortunately, the service is less than favorable. You will seldom receive a ‘you’re welcome’ in response to a ‘thank you’. I have gone twice with family and asked for the«Hibachi Table Experience» and was told that this was not an option for only 2 – 3 people.

I have mixed feelings about this place– it looks nice, the sushi is good, and it’s clean. So I’m sure you’re asking, «so why are you giving them two starts, sounds like a solid place.» Wrong because these other issues are so terrible they cannot be over looked. First the service is awful. God awful. This woman who was sitting with her head against the wall staring into nothing with her mouth agape was sitting in the front as the greeter. We asked for a table and I am pretty sure she either sighed or grunted at us as if we had interrupted her day dreaming. As we sat down we noticed that there were about four other tables with people — so not what I would call packed. The two waitresses they had for a total of now five tables was slooowwwww and we were met with the same«why are you here demeanor». The only person that seemed to be working was the man making the sushi– oh did I mention it was only one guy. So to match the slow service from the waitresses the sushi was getting turned out at an even slower pace. So if you want decent sushi and you don’t care about your dining experience at all please by all means go here.

I haven’t been in here in years and I’m glad I stopped in for lunch. Had a fancy roll and Philadelphia roll. They also gave me this seafood salad thing that was really good as a mini app. Looking forward to coming in or seconds.

Are you thinking if maybe you should do the buffet? Get the buffet. This is a local gem, with great sushi made to order in their buffet. The place doesn’t look like much from the outside… or inside… but the sushi is so good! They make them fresh to order, lots of great specialty roll choices I had never heard of. Small portions on the appetizers so you can have a little bit of everything and more importantly leave room for some green tea ice cream! I think the price of the buffet is extremely reasonable at $ 25 and you can pace yourself and get your money’s worth. The décor inside is a bit retro, and the service is not friendly but not mean… just…to the point.

The food is good enough(even though the maki is the size of a thimble), but in all the times I’ve been here, the service has never been good. And their soda is always flat. I’ll go to Tokyo in a pinch, but it’s never at the top of my list.

Fail but not for lack of effort. We went for hibachi, apparently there isn’t much draw for that and we were the only ones. They did provide hibachi even though it was only for one person. They have 3-hibachi tables and dining for two dozen sushi tables. They were at 2⁄3 capacity and really struggled to get everything out. There was a total of three people, two sushi chefs, one of which became the hibachi chef and one waittress. The food was ok, not great. I have been to the Hamden location that people reference and thought that the wait staff was rude BUT a LOT faster than this one. There is also a similar all you can eat sushi location in Rocky Hill, all three of these places are fairly similar, none blew me away. I got the shrimp and steak hibachi, the sauces were a little watered down and hence I was missing some flavor, the trade off was that the sauce wasn’t so over powering. The sulf clam actually had no taste at all. The sushi was ok, not great, the rolls were like wise ok, the cooked options for the buffet fell short of expections, combined with the poor service it was too many negatives. Would consider going back possibly at off hours, never again for hibachi or during peak dining hours. The building smells a little like mold when you enter.
