This local restaurant is fantastic! Great food, wine and beer. The service is stellar, and the atmosphere is wonderful!

My husband and I picked up a pizza here last weekend, and we were both impressed! Dough Traders is much better than Pizza Hut and Dominos, etc. The sourdough crust is delicious and the toppings were fresh and crunchy! If we are ever in the spearfish area we will get another pizza… The only negative thing is that it is a little expensive… About $ 20 for a big normal size pizza.

My family stopped here on the way to Wyoming! Read the reviews on Unilocal and decided to give it a try because of the good reviews! The waitress was very friendly! Sat us down and had our order placed and back at the table in no time! We had a salad with good homemade dressing, Pompei pizza that was the BEST we have ever had, and the kids loved the cheese and pepperoni pizza! We would DEFINITELY come back again if we come through here! It is worth every penny which is VERY affordable!

Vacationing in the Black Hills and the family just wanted steak, beef, steak. I insisted on PIZZA! and I’m so glad I did. The pizza’s here are phenomenal. That whole wheat sourdough crust is something I’ll dream about. We got the veggie, the pompei, the goat cheese/chicken(don’t recall the name) and one covered in beef(for the rest of the family). Possibly the best place we ate the entire 4 days in town. Thanks, Dough Trader!

First – no credit cards. But checks are ok if you have a phone number. That being said – great staff, great pizza and delicious salad(which should be shared if they are just a side to the pizza). Pizzas come in once size, but easily serve 3 hungry people, 4 if you all just want a slice or two. We had a veggie, but the combos were creative and when we are back it town we will give them a try. Great outside with a fire pit the weather suits you!

Cheesy sourdough breadsticks were delicious. Pizzas(Mahalo, dancing with goats, and another) were great. Handmade and totally worth the wait, even if we were starving from our hike up Crow Peak!

Read the Unilocal reviews and tried it out. Very nice dining room, almost too nice for a pizza parlor. Anyway, we ordered the«Heaven Sent» cheese bread and two pizzas. Everything was very cheesy and very delicious! Service was very good as well.

The food is delicious, but it’s too pricey for me. I’m from DC, and the pizza isn’t even this expensive out there.

After reading the reviews we couldn’t wait to check it out. Unfortunately we found it about 95 degrees inside the restaurant. We stayed and ordered two pizzas. They brought the first in about 15 minutes and no one came back to check on us ever! After another 10 minutes or so we inquired as to the status of the second pizza. After checking the ticket, they said they missed it on the order and would make it right away. I asked for a coke and a refill on the waters. They refilled the waters but never brought the coke. We didn’t make a scene or want to complain much. They did comp the 2nd pizza but they ruined our pizza nightm we took the second pizza to go. Disappointed with our visit to say the least.

Great pizza and nice atmosphere. We had the«gentleman and scholar» and it was really good. Ingredients were fresh, and the wood fire crust was the perfect crispness. Prices were also pretty reasonable. Only Bummer, cash only. Had to pay a 3.00 fee to use their ATM.

Passing through town and got carry out. Between all of the local pizza options, I’d be surprised if there was anything better around. Service was friendly and very fast. Facilities are unique for a pizza place and I could see dinning in a nice experience. Ordered«the usual suspects» salad and a «Scarborough Fair» pizza. Clean and fresh quality ingredients throughout. Very tasty. 4 out of 5 stars only because I’ve had better pizza over the years. Overall, was not disappointed and would love to try more of their different pizzas!

Great pizza. We got the whole wheat crust & it was very light. We got a salad & it was really good as well. Really nice patio & friendly staff. They do not accept credit cards.

My brother and I were staying in Spearfish on a bike trip through the Badlands and Black Hills and wanted to eat someplace local, not a chain. We found Dough Trader by the good Unilocal reviews and we were not disappointed. The pizza is delicious, a nice thin crust and I’m a huge fan of their sausage. We got the Luigi’s Hidden Star and the King Leonidas, both good options. I was a little put off by the atmosphere inside the building — the outside patio is relaxed while inside it is warm, a little stuffy, and possibly the nicest decorated pizza place I’ve been to. It’s just a little weird to me. I’m also not a fan of them not taking credit cards. If the owner doesn’t want to pay the processing fees, then they should just raise the prices to build those fees in and assume everyone will pay buy card — this is 2015 after all. Overall, good dinner option — for the more relaxed(and cooler) feel, sit outside.

Easily the best pizza in the Black Hills, with friendly staff and a great beer selection. Yet, while the pizza cannot be praised highly enough, I often choose not to eat there for two reasons: 1. Not particularly kid friendly, at least if we’re talking about smaller kids eating inside. Tight quarters, dark, etc. Your mileage may vary. 2. The inability to pay via credit card/cheque card is extremely frustrating… yes, they have an ATM inside, but why should I pay an extra $ 2.50 in ATM fees for the privilege of saving the owner some merchant fees? On several occasions I thought I was a brain surgeon and planned ahead by hitting my bank’s ATM on the way… unfortunately, the bill was more than I’d thought and I STILL had to use the ATM. I wish the owner would realize that people would spend MORE money at this excellent restaurant if they didn’t have to worry about how much cash they have on hand. Other than this reservation, this is an excellent choice for dinner in Spearfish.

While looking for food in spearfish we stumbled across dough traders and were pleasantly surprised with the pizza. They only accept cash, but no near to fear because there is an ATM in the store. Definitely worth the stop!

Loved the pizza. Crust was great and not too hard. Small place but good atmosphere. They have good beers and good music playing. Best time we are in spearfish we will have to stop in!
