Black & White Grille

One of the top 5 places I’ve consistently been to. The staff keeps this place immaculate! I’ve watched them use Clorox wipes on everything at the end of the day– menus, booths, tables. Prices are good and there is a wide range of menu items to choose from and have never had a bad meal from here. Even when it’s a busy night the wait staff is great, the food is fresh, and they don’t try to rush you out. Can’t make any suggestions on what to order because really everything I’ve tried here has been good

The food is not worth the prices. Everything is okay but not great. Been at least 15 times and I still can’t find something I really like. It’s not bad but it’s not amazing. Good if you just want to watch a game and eat burgers but not if you’re planning on doing anything other than that.

Great ratio of burger, bun and topping. Fries are best I’ve had in a while. So many options I didn’t know what to order. Very chill atmosphere and good service.
My friend had the fried clam strips. Huge serving and great flavor. Very fresh tasting.
Now on to the molten chocolate cake!
This was my first time here but I would highly recommend it. Well worth the drive from Worcester.

Busy as usual but we arrived before the rush with friends from Virginia on the Saturday after Thanksgiving. We all enjoyed our meals and my friends were quite happy with the waitress and their meals. All around you gave us a great evening. Thank you.

At request, seated outside on a beautiful night. One of the specials was a lobster ravioli with lots of shrimp, scallops, and lobster in a creamy garlic sauce. Garlic isn’t always my best friend and so the cook was happy to substitute the creamy lemon sauce. Amazing. Drinks were good, hubby’s prime rib good, service at least good. I’d do this again in a heartbeat if I wasn’t traveling. Don’t skip this place because it looks a bit like a clam shack on the outside. Way better than average food, reasonably priced.

Has the best flourless chocolate torte prices are not bad and service is good. I recommend the buffalo chicken sandwich as well. Great atmosphere but get there before the crowds!

Last night (7÷28÷15) I went to the Black & White Grille with my two kids at 5:00 PM on a Tuesday. When we got in it was pretty quiet. I ordered a turkey wrap with bacon, lettuce, tomato and mayo. Pretty standard stuff. My kids orders were a small kids pepperoni pizza and a kids ziti with sauce. Originally my daughter said spaghetti but I suggested ziti would be better and she agreed.
When our food came I got a turkey BL (no T) with no mayo. I asked for mayo and went without tomatoes, no big deal. My daughter got spaghetti. Oh well, she couldn’t keep it on the fork and made a mess but whatever. I’m not a complainer because I don’t want copious amounts of saliva in my food. My son got a pepperoni pizza, can’t screw that one up.
I had seen reviews and pictures talking about the lava cake and it looked good with vanilla ice cream. I ordered it and apparently it doesn’t (or didn’t this time?) come with any ice cream like other places. Just a little bit of whipped cream. It was very good but very small. The three of us wanted more. I ordered a brownie sundae with peanut butter sauce. I love peanut butter. Unfortunately, there was no peanut butter sauce.
When we were done, we were ready for the check. I had a 25 dollar gift card and handed over my credit card for the difference. Never saw a check, just a credit card receipt with a total. Despite all of the above I tipped more than 20%. The food we received was good but not really what we ordered.

Been jumping about this area for about a week. Food and service here is good. Place is busy during weekend.
Restaurant does not compare to city. But, is the best in area

Growing up in central MA, I had heard about this restaurant for years, but never tried it until last night when we happened to be back in the area. My wife and I stopped in around eight, had to wait only a few minutes to be seated, and then had one of the best dining experiences we’ve had in quite a while!
My wife tried the Mediterranean swordfish and I had the shrimp and scallop Parmesan. Both were fantastic! Our server, Brianne, did her job to perfection. She was attentive without being annoying and answered questions about the menu and restaurant in general honestly and in detail, making helpful recommendations.
We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and can’t wait to come back when we’re in the area again!

Came here on a Monday since a lot of restaurants in this area are closed on Monday! I ordered the chicken kabob meal and it was absolutely delicious. Our waiter was attentive without being overbearing. They also serve Spencer Trappist Ale which was a delight. Will definitely be back.

Bellies are a must. I stay away from the pasta primavera which was basic watery sauce with under cooked random veggies. The more simple
Dishes are where it’s at. Pizza, sandwiches and fried entrees :)

Absolutely delicious and unique combination of foods that you don’t get everywhere. Great service and food came really fast.

Huge variety on the menu. This place is perfect if you get home from work last minute and decide you don’t want to cook. Casual restaurant with great service, a full bar, and home cooked meals. The outdoor seating is great in the summer. This is one of the most popular restaurants in Spencer, and you are likely to run into someone you know!

A great place to enjoy time with family. The black and white grille was packed when we went to enjoy dinner on Thursday. I got the homemade chicken tenders which where really good. I also got the molten chocolate cake which was super rich and it was piping hot with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Please try the black and white grille, the only issue is that it is hard to get a good parking spot because there are always so many people eating here.

I grew up a short distance from the B&W over 40 years ago and hadn’t been back for years. I’m happy to report that it’s in good hands with the new owners and the place was packed on a Monday night which says a lot. My Mom ordered the lasagna which was very tasty, although I was surprised it didn’t come with a salad. My wife had the salmon with mashed potatoes and broccoli. Props for tender salmon, tasty garlic mashers and al dente broccoli. My daughter had a simple Caesars salad with a side of the mashers which she enjoyed. I ordered the mushroom and Swiss burger with fries. The burger was good with a nice beefy flavor, unfortunately it was over cooked. My nephew had a gyro and fries, his go to order. We ordered two deserts but the cakes do not appear to be homemade. My brownie Sunday was held in the kitchen too long, most of the ice cream was melted when it arrived at the table, but the brownie was moist and flavorful. Our server Katie took excellent care of us and was very friendly. We will definitely return the next time we’re back in town.

Ended a great day and came for an early dinner. Place was not busy and service was good. My friend and i ordered the French Beef Sandwich that came with Au jus dipping sauce. Delicious… Came with great french fries. my friend had sweet potato fries and they were just ok. For dessert i had the chocolate molten cake, a la mode… yummy. so perfectly warm and just perfect. moist and chocolaty. would definately come back for more.

I don’t get all the bad reviews for this place. We go here a lot and the food is always solid. They fry with trans fat free oil and nothing is ever greasy. It is really good bar food with some Greek thrown in along with some pasta dishes.
The pizza is to die for. All the fried seafood dishes are winners. I have had several of the wraps all really good. Fries are good onion rings could be better. Must try apps are fried feta and the Mediterranean sampler is awesome.
Great place to go watch the game on Sunday and they are doing some specials on game day with beer and pizza etc. It’s not a fancy gourmet restaurant but it is good bar food with great service. And let’s not forget the prices are right as well. We will be back again and again.

Menu descriptions are great… the actual dishes don’t measure up. Food seems to take long time to come out, and it doesn’t seem to matter if you’re there when it’s busy or slow. Expect to nag servers to refill your water, tea or soft drink.
Their hamburgers/​cheeseburgers are shockingly good. Over a recent stay in the area, I had burgers 3 times. Each time I ordered them cooked ‘medium’ & I got 3 different interpretations, but each time the burgers were tasty, tender & juicy. The patties do not appear to be pre-​formed frozen.
Pass on the onion rings, they taste like they came out of a bag in the frozen food aisle. For an extra $ 1, you can get sweet potato fries, which are pretty good.
If you’re picky, you won’t be happy. If you’re hungry & have time to kill, it’s ok.

Last night we’d driven by an Applebee’s, 99, Outback, Chili’s…all packed! Decided to go through Spencer and give this place a try on our way home, since we’ve been wanting to for a while. The parking lot was pretty full, so we were worried we would have a wait, but we were seated right away!
Our waitress was awesome (wish I remembered her name!). We both got drinks, which were delicious, as well as some of the best mozzarella sticks I’ve had in a while. The food was great as well — I got the baked haddock, BF got the baked stuffed ravioli. We wish we’d tried this place sooner, we’ll definitely be going back!
