The service is great and the food is awesome! The portion sizes are huge! They have a nice little shop that has been around for years. Their togo food is always hot and delicious as well! Great place to eat!

If you’re looking for a mom and pop Thai restaurant in an intimate family setting, with traditional family recipes, then look no further than Taste of Thai. You will have to look for it though as it is located in a strip mall on Hastings. When you walk in, you will often be greeted by, Michael or Kia, husband/wife and son/daughter in law of the owners, Homer and Seng. Decorated in traditional pictures and artwork, you’ll feel that homey sensation like you’re eating in a family’s dining room. Ten of us were treated to a delicious family style meal at Taste of Thai on Christmas Eve. Serving many of our favorite staple Thai dishes along with a few other dishes not normally ordered, we were quite happy with the execution and flavor of the entrees. Although my wife and I will occasionally disagree on preferences of flavors of different styles of food, we unequivocally concur that Tom Yum is our favorite soup. A good Tom Yum should be prominent in sour, sweet, spicy, and salty flavors. Taste of Thai’s Tom Yum encompassed all of these. We’ve failed many times to make our own version, so we asked the owners for some insight into their recipe and how we can improve on our take. They were more than willing to disclose their primary ingredients and when asked what measurements were needed, they kind of shrugged their shoulders and were vague, indicating to us that their recipes are cooked from memory relying on taste to adjust during the process. This impressed me on their authenticity and tradition of their dishes. All of the entrees were delicious including another favorite, Gaeng Garee curry or yellow curry. We finished with some homemade coconut ice cream with black rice which was an outstanding finale. With a great atmosphere, excellent service, welcoming owners, traditional yet unique family recipes, and affordable pricing for fresh product, there’s not much more to ask except for that yellow curry recipe.

We love this place. Family owned by fantastic people. The food never disappoints. If you’re in a hurry I recommend calling ahead to place your order, since the food is made fresh it can take some time to prepare. If you like Thai food this is a must stop.

Have eaten here or gotten takeaway several times. Not overly crazy about their style Pad Thai but it is generally pretty good. Tried the sweet and sour chicken last night and it was outstanding. So much better than the Chinese style thick syrup and deep fried chicken nuggets. Good sauce, spice, chicken and veggies. Nice family run business with other quality Thai dishes. Give them a try!

Super good food! It’s a small family owned place. Not the best service but the food makes up for it.

Best place in spokane for delicious thai food. I have lived in spokane for 21 years and this place is by dark my favorite. They are fairly priced and are always friendly. I would recommend this to anyone who love mouth watering melt in your mouth food.

First a note: I am not a connoisseur of Thai cuisine. This meaning that I don’t go to get a cultural meal all that often. I do know what tastes good to me though and I really enjoy the food here. The spring rolls are made in house and are excellent. The chicken in peanut sauce(on spinach) is one of my favorite foods period. I could eat this every day and be pretty darn happy. On this most recent visit we also had the sweet and sour chicken. I believe this is made with a homemade sauce and it was also outstanding. The meat in both dishes were tasty and cooked just right. The rice that was served with the meal was also very good. It was just sticky enough to be a good base for the other dishes. The family that owns and runs this establishment are very kind. Although the mom who usually works the register seems quiet and passive, she is actually very nice. Dad cooks and their son helps in both the front and back of the house. A friend of mine introduced us to this place and I really can’t thank him enough. This is going to be a regular stop for us.

First time I was here I tried the red curry. It was delicious and a large portion. The spice meter is on point so if you don’t like spice don’t order more than a 1 star. I ordered 3 stars and it was hot but delicious! I’m going to try the pad Thai today. Spring rolls are also very good. New favorite Thai place!

Best Thai food in town. Hole in the wall for sure. I love the pad siew and their spring rolls are to die for. Have loved everything we have tried. Quick for take out as well. Only downside is that the dining room is definitely on the grungy side. I ignore it because the food is great.

Well I have found my favorite Thai place! I came here based on suggestion from a friend. I was blown away. When I try a new Thai place I always start with pad Thai and chicken satay. Well I have to this best pad Thai I have every had! The satay was quite good as well! Everything was beautiful and fresh. My only disappointment is that I did not have room for more.

Have only had their pad Thai but it was delicious! Unfortunately the consistency of how spicy their stars are isn’t the best, I’ve had a 2 star there that made me want to drink a gallon of water(I still ate it because it was still super tasty) to another one that was just right.

The yellow curry and pad Thai are to die for, this place feels very authentic and their prices are great. they don’t overcharge for rice or tea. Very friendly appears to be family ran. The food is hot and delicious. I live on the South Hill and I make it all the way up to this location because I am that impressed with it.

Drove almost 20 miles for a meh meal. This restaurant won out over another choice tonight due to its location. Bad roll of the dice. It is a charming, small, and looks like, a family run establishment. The lady behind the counter just stared at me as I walked towards her, coming in the door, glancing about for a place to sit and wondering if I needed to wait. She gave me a nod when I pointed to the one vacant, smaller table. Menues and water were served within 5 minutes but it took over half an hour for our two dishes to arrive. 1)Pud See Ew with Chicken and Tofu On the first bite, I feltl like I’m chewing rubber noodles. The refreshed dry rice noodles were not at all tender. Taste was overwhelmingly salty and not much else. Tofu was not fresh fried and some of the small pieces of chicken were dry. It was hot but looked like a small portion being served on a small, oval platter. 2)Chicken with Peanut Sauce over Spinach Lacked depth of flavor although the bed of spinach was attractively steamed. Their heat level 3 was comparable to 1 – 2 of other Thai places we’ve dined at. The sauce buried everything under it. The accompanying white rice was nicely tender. When I shared my dismay with the too firm noodles to the same lady who«greeted» and waited on us, she explained how some restaurants boiled their noodles but that they cold soaked theirs. She added that the texture is supposed to be the way it was. I grew up with both fresh and dried but rice noodles are not served al dente. They shouldn’t be mushy either. I did not want to push a redo but it was not offered when I stated I did not want to wait another half hour for my food. It was a barely adequate meal that filled our bellies. but not worth going out of our way for again.

We had great time with great food that the chef prepared for us. It’s was really nice of them taking care of us there especially the cook that made all the great dishes for us. He went out of his way to take care of us with all the variety of dishes. Thank you Bounhom for the great food you made for us.

I was disappointed, especially after so many positive reviews by others. To be fair there are good things here: Attentive service with a smile. Family friendly atmosphere. Cheap spring rolls(frozen?) and drinks. Large servings so we had some leftovers. Our food came out nice and hot. The quality, however, was lacking. Pad Thai was a soft glop, overcooked and way heavy on tamarind paste/sauce. The other order, a Sweet and Sour dish, was soupy and entirely sweet with a prominent taste in the sauce that seemed, well, a bit like ketchup. I am not sure what that was about. One other thing. The restroom is substandard for a place that charges $ 9 – 11 a plate. It was decorated, sort of, but needs attention on flooring and walls. All in all, despite being locally-owned, favored by many, and having some definite pros, the food just didn’t make the grade. Factor in the restroom and I can only give A Taste of Thai two stars. Final note: My disappointment, however, won’t keep my child from eating the leftovers.

Very glad we found this small, family-owned Thai restaurant on our brief visit to Spokane. The customer service was excellent. We ordered Panang Curry and Goong Pahd Pik Poa(sp?), both **hot spicy. The curry was much hotter then expected and the other dish was barely hot. But both were quite good. We were disappointed they didn’t have fresh spring rolls, though. Get this…$ 3 glass of wine! I don’t think I’ve ever seen that. Tucked away in a strip mall, it’s a very small place, indeed. I totally dig the décor. Allergy Alert! They use oyster sauce in everything.
