Great food. Here for baseball tournament and stopped in for lunch. Had the liver and onions. Tender and gravy was great. Others had buscuits and gravy. No disappointment. All home made. Service was great and friendly.

We were in the area for a triathlon from the DC area. This place was exactly what we were looking for for Saturday breakfast: inexpensive country breakfast with friendly smiling service. I had 3 eggs with bacon, grits and toast and a short stack of pancakes. The girl had the French toast with their homemade biscuits. Everything was delicious. The ambiance was fun and very local.

Great little old diner in the heart of the Spotsylvania court house area. If your tired of the same olé chained restaurants, this is a great place for a change. It’s like eating grandmas cooking. My family and I have always loved every meal we’ve ever gotten here. The staff are friendly and the food doesn’t take long. They serve breakfast all day.(Better than Mc d’s) Take it to go, or dine with a few old timers and maybe a few cops(they are by the court house and I always see at least one police car in the parking lot.) Yum yum you have to try it, you are sure to go back.

We are Sunday morning regulars here. This is that small hometown feel diner with friendly staff and great home cooked food. We have only had breakfast here so I can’t review the dinner menu but the breakfast is absolutely southern style great. We will remain regulars as long as they will have us.

Love this little restaurant. And I mean little. It must only sit about 30 people. The waitresses were very sweet. From what I could tell, it was all women working here. Came with my mom for a late breakfast. We both got our coffee and water of course. I ordered pancakes with bacon and some French toast. Both very delicious! Was happy with both meals. My mom ordered onion rings and a grilled cheese which she also liked. The customer was great though toward the end it was hard to get a waitress even though it wasn’t very busy. A must try place!

I love diners like this… it is friendly and comfortable and the wait staff are so polite. The bacon –woowee…so yummy. I love it. We go there when we are getting an early start on the weekend. It is the essence of diners of long ago and very much says America. We need to hold on to places like this before we get run over by chain establishments and comp-lately lose anything still remaining part of rural American culture.

Pleasant place for a weekend breakfast in an are with a dearth of breakfast places. Food is Ok not great, just OK. Irksome to have to pay more for rye bread. And hash browns or grits should not b included at those prices.

I have been here many times and not once impressed. The past visit I had was one of the most disgusting, foul, aweful things I have ever had. It would be the chili cheeseburger. Call 911.Well, normally, a chilly cheeseburger is a good burger with a local chili.Right.NO, not here. The chili itself wafs so thick and had huge beans in it, it was sick. The amount that was on it was rediculous. I could even tell it was a hamburger.Disappointing.The food here is not made from scratch. i can tell you right off the bat that the burger was frozen, the cheese was Kraft, the bun was wonderbread brand, and my lemonade… Minute maid. — I see why. The inside is not suitable. And the bus drivers from SMS used to smoke here.

Four of us ate here and not one enjoyed the food. I wouldn’t go back. Pretty expensive for breakfast and what we got.

Sure, the four star rating is based on one visit and one meal: breakfast. But may I suggest that breakfast is probably the hardest meal of the day to get just right? And Courthouse Café does it right here(although they’re also open for lunch, and have an extensive menu for both). Situated on the busiest intersection of Spotsylvania, VA, Courthouse Café probably does a *booming* lunchtime business by – who else? — Courthouse employees. At breakfast, however, we had the place almost to ourselves. The interior is totally outdated and classic small-town diner-y(in other words: cheesy but charming), but spic ‘n’ span. Service was on-point, too. Our waitress didn’t miss a beat, our coffee cups never emptied, and she was friendly and courteous. My veggie omelet was cooked wonderfully well: a billowy egg exterior enveloping crisp green peppers, tasty, tender tomatoes, al denté, savory onions, fresh, sautéed mushrooms, and melty cheddar cheese. Husband’s scrambled eggs were fluffy and flavorful, and the bacon — the star of the entire breakfast show — was thick-cut, lean, and cooked to a crisp perfection. The accompanying biscuit was dense yet pillowy, subtly tangy from baking powder. And the home fries were clearly homemade, thinly sliced, and grilled golden. For two entrées and two coffees, our total bill came to $ 17. We kept chucking at each other across the formica booth because at home in DC, the same breakfast would have run us 30 bucks. It felt like highway robbery to eat so well for so cheap… so we left a ludricously large tip for our hard-working waitress and felt like we’d paid a proper charge. If I’m ever in charming Spotsylvania again — oh, and it *is* charming — I know exactly where I“ll be eating brekkie. And now you do, too.
