This place was terrible. We came for a wedding. The staff was disinterested and did not seem like they wanted to help. The food was edible but not good. The décor is outdated and half the bar was closed while the bar tender on the other half was slow and kept disappearing!

Most horrible experience if my life! Upon entering to hotel the population was geriatric and seemed to be more of assisted living facility than a family hotel. The room has not been updated since 1980 but besides the décor, it was dingy and musty and the bathroom smelled of urine. The bathroom itself was a slight upgraded from a gas station. To top it off the comforter had blood stains and when we requested an extra blanket they replied there were no extra in the entire hotel. The customer service only made the experience worse, they were rude and did not want to help us to make us feel comfortable. We had come to doolans for a wedding which also did not go well, from leaking vents into our food to horrible acoustics from the venue… This is not he place to come for ANY event!

We went there to see a music group that was playing. They have been remodeling the old place. I have been there for award dinners and the food was OK… This night was busy. When we walked in it hit me right in the eye… what, what is all the blue hairs doing here, or what am I doing here. I’m old but this was over the top. I thought I was at a retirement get together. I was ready to leave since there was no seats and only standing room. The hostess was nice and tried to make us comfortable by saying we could sit on the steps of the massive stair cases. The place was under staffed to say the least. I only found on guy running his butt off and had no time to be of help. The hostess asked if we wanted a drink and would get someone to take our order… It never happened, she came back and said she couldn’t find anyone that we would be better off going to the bar and getting it our self. I do have to say around 9pm the old was all tuckered out and the younger crowd was moving in. It was very interesting to watch the transformation right in front of my eyes. About an hr later it was time for this old man to hit the road…

The Shore Club at Doolan’s is in the process of renovation and transformation from the old fossil that it use to be to into something that promises to be quite nice. As a matter of fact the entire hotel is under reconstruction. The lobby is complete with a newly added bar which is very decent. As far as food my wife’s prime rib was large and tasty and my sliced turkey done just right along with sides plus two house salads and a bottle of Chianti the price was $ 69 dollars before tip. Not a bad deal at all. The restaurant space is still old however, but will be redone this fall/winter. Look this is not gourmet dining, but it is however a big step up from the old Jersey Shore Irish relic of the past. Updated 8⁄4 after another visit, this time to the newly installed lobby bar. Very nice scene with a great 2 for 1 drink special from 4 – 7PM. This is now one of the best bar values at the Jersey shore.
