Deeeeelicious. Loved this place. Since I tried Totally Roasted about a year ago at Woodbridge, I’ve wanted to roadtrip here. Finally, success. I could see myself sitting for long spells in their yard. We stopped on the way back from the beach and I went with a Chapman’s Blend and my companion a Puff The Magic Cyser. His was good but a little honey laden for my taste, and mine was light and dry, just the way I like it. We had the dog with us and he wasn’t allowed inside nor on the deck area, but the owners were super cool and allowed us to have him just outside the deck area. Once some of the patrons cleared, they came out to tell us he could come inside the deck area, which was super cool of them. I left with a 4 pack of Totally Roasted, and he picked up what he was told was the best cider they had ever brewed. Stop by this little place when you are on your way to/from Grand Haven or Spring Lake, or Muskegon, for that matter. You won’t be sorry.

Heard good things about this place. I love the atmosphere inside and outside seating of the restaurant. I love the brussel sprout dish, very delicious. Also, the fresh donuts are a must! It would be my favorite thing at this place and would go back just for donuts. I also got to try the brisket sandwich. I felt for the price, the sandwich was small, but it did come with fries. The fries are good. The brisket had fatty pieces which i am not fond of, and it tasted gamey. The sandwich was ok. I also had the pizza. I got the small size. Thinking it was gonna be a small pie. But it was just two rectangular pieces & salad. Kinda disappointed, since it just has prosciutto on it and a thick bread. Wasn’t inpressed. Just reminds me of hungry howies. Was kinda disappointed.

I love the ciders here! There are really interesting flavor combinations. I liked the Mango one with a little heat at the end, and the Puff was really good. The staff is really friendly and always offers lots of samples. I’m looking forward to the Grand Rapids location.

Apple ciders in Michigan, you say? My boyfriend surprised me with a weekend trip to Muskegon, full fledged with a cute Bed n Breakfast, Muskegon State Park trip and cider drives! Vander Mill was packed on the evening we visited, mostly because its the only happening place outside Grand Rapids. Smells like spicy cider, looks like an apple barn and waitress was super friendly like(plug in apple related cutesy word here). Both of us ordered the cider flights and got hooked to the blueberry and hoppy cider! So much so we bought these bottles to go for our weekend. I wish Houston had a cider joint. There’s nothing that can beat a cold, Michigan day other than warm, spicy cider and wonderful, happy people. I’m a fan!

Wow. This place is great. Straight up Michigan gem. Wonderful service and well crafted food oh and cider too. Well worth the stop after a small distraction from Odd Side

well somehow a good thing has been ruined… a change in chefs brought back average food, and a different menu… cider still good, but no more dinners for us. We will eat before going there.

I’m a huge Vander Mill fan I general so it should come as no surprise how much I love this place! Best ciders in Michigan or maybe the country in my opinion! I love everything about Vander Mill’s set up, everything about its tap room and I can’t wait for them to open a taproom in Grand Rapids! They have a lot of space, which was nice for the fest I attended the first time I made it out to vander mill. The second time there was no event but everyone was chill and cool and accommodating and the cider just cannot be beat!

The food was great. However, we drove over an hour for a birthday dinner just to have doughnuts. Miss Richard, the waitress, however, denied us these tasty morsels. Our group has a member who is allergic to apples, she was offered Apple crisp. Seemed rude. One would think a cider mill/doughnut shop would have these available. Wisconsin purchased all of them. Unfortunately, they do not have anyone on staff who would make new doughnuts. Doesn’t make sense and seems like a poor business decision on their part. Lost customers and lost out on a sale. Bold choice Ms. Richard.

We stopped in here and Dutch Girl brewery(across the street) while on a trip to PJ Hoffmaster state park. We have been drinking Vander Mill ciders for years in the can and always liked their unique flavors. We were very happy to see this while in the area searching on… Unilocal, for places to visit. We went during the afternoon and there were several families in the outdoor seating area enjoying the beautiful summer day. There was quite a bit of indoor seating as well. The service was fast and waitresses were friendly and knowledgeable. We ordered two flights of cider and a dessert. It was a very neat setting to relax and enjoy the cider and atmosphere. They did have a stage area and cool outdoor lighting. We would definitely suggest Vander Mills ciders for a chill place to grab a bite and a flight of delicious ciders.

The cider is [was] terrific. One of the best ciders I’ve ever had. They have a unique selection of ciders available only here. This is if you are a single male… The moment I walked in the hostess gave me a bad feeling. I’ve worked in the restaurant industry for 10 years and absolutely love eating out and talkng with the staff. Whom better to tell you about the food or brew offered at a place than the people that work there. The staff at Vander Mills is disappointing, inexperienced, young and raw. It seemed every one of them was working every position, which in theory works if they are good at least in one position. The hostess didn’t know who to attend to first. The bartenders [if you can call them that] were all over the place. The waitresses. are there any? All the girls flocked to a single male that walked in. 2 girls taking his order? While I sat there with my girlfriend and we are not even offered water. We had already purchased drinks, donuts, and a flight. Think we deserved some water at least. We will not come back here because of this experience. We will not promote your cider because of this experience. You were one of the best ciders, but to not care about your service and establishment is a cause for concern. There are many other cider joints to enjoy and have an exceptional experience than at Vander Mill, you are not one of those places in our books unfortunately.

I am very disappointed in the food and service for how nice the environment is. To start, I ordered a toasted cider which was very good, however the appetizer of garlic cheesy bread took about 20 minutes. Ordinarily I would not remark about time as I am willing to wait for something of decent quality, but this garlic cheesy bread was overcooked, dry, and devoid of any garlic flavor with oily mozzarella dumped and melted on top of it. To try and redeem ourselves for the poor decision, we ordered the donut chips which again was not up to par because they were stale in taste so we did not eat more than a few bites. I can only imagine how the sandwiches are which I am glad I didn’t stay around to order. A few other points: The silverware was dirty and there was only 1 bathroom stall. For the prices that were charged at this place, I just don’t understand why it isn’t so much better because I think it has a lot of potential given the location.

Five stars for the server, kitchen was slow but Jill C made up for it with great service. And food was fantastic. Open face BLT with an egg. Great brunch item.

We recommend the Quack fries/chips with gargonzola cheese sauce($ 10). We also ordered the BBQ pizza which has beef, peppers, mushrooms and cheese($ 14) which was pretty good and a pretty decent size. Between the two of us, we got full off the fries and the pizza. As for ciders, I loved the Totally Roasted! It has notes of candied pecan and vanilla, yum! Don’t leave unless you check it out. Apparently it’s a best-seller there! Unfortunately I wasn’t in love with most of the flavors, but I will definitely buy the Totally Roasted in can form here in GR.

I have been a fan of Vander Mill since they came to Chicago a few years ago. I must admit, favorites are Totally Roasted and Ginger Peach but I was looking to try something different. The first page of the cider menu is the usual, the stuff you can find in cans anywhere(including the fridge for purchase at the cider). However, the back page… that’s where all the rare«cidery only» exclusives are. The Ancho Mama with poblano peppers, plums, and raisins was so good, we took a «bomber can» home(for only $ 10!). The Too Gold was also a favorite with a blend of Grimes Golden, Golden Russet and Gold Rush apples aged in white oak barrels. We took home a «bomber can» of the Mango cider they had on special. We didn’t even get a chance to try the food but the menu… had a little bit of everything. Pizza, burgers, sandwiches and all incorporated cider in the recipe. If I find myself this way again, I will definitely come hungry. It doesn’t really look like they make a lot of their cider here. The small barn where the tasting room and restaurant are looks to take up most of the space. They also have an awesome outdoor space with picnic tables and a stage for music. Of course I couldn’t leave without buy a t-shirt! Vander Mill is still one of my favorite cideries!

Wow! The cider was outstanding as expected, but the food was some of the best we have had on this trip! The Big Kid Grilled Cheese was to die for. This will be my go to grilled cheese forever! Bacon, apple slices, Gruyère? Yes please! And the bacon is cured in house! Ok, the cider menu was comprised of 4 – 6 you can get in markets. The other 4 – 6 you can only get onsite. The bourbon barrel aged cider was perfect and paired with the GC like nobody’s business! We ate outside and the kids were able to play at a small play area while we sampled and waited for our food. Can’t wait to return here. Service was excellent as well as Corey was able to explain everything on the menu and help direct to the best choices.

I’ve been dying to go to Vandermill since I first tried Totally Roasted over a year ago. I drove in all the way from Chicago and picked up a friend in Grand Rapids on the way! The food was to die for! The ciders were even better! Love Bites is a hibiscus and peppercorn cider that is not available elsewhere and it was my favorite! It has such a unique and amazing taste! Their fries are deep fried in duck fat and they are mouth watering! The service was superb!(Thank you Jennifer! You rock!). Everything about Vandermill was awesome! Please open a Chicago Branch!

We were headed to watch the sunset on the beach and stopped for dinner on the way. Vander Mill has updated their menu since our last visit and I was excited to try it out. We sat outside facing the kid’s playground area, which is a terrific option for parents who like us often have squirmy children. Our 6 year old was able to play while we sat with the sun our back sipping cider, ahhh. I ordered the foul mouth(duck confit sandwich) and upgraded to the duck fat fries and my husband had the beefeater with chips. My sandwich was delicious. Generous portions of duck and creamy goat cheese, mmm. My only slight dissatisfaction was that the bottom bread was pretty soggy despite being toasted, I would probably ask for it on the bun that came with my husband’s sandwich if I ordered it again. My husband said his was delicious and cleaned his plate. The fries were ok, but seemed unevenly cooked some were nearly burnt others raw, glad to have tried them but will probably stick with the chips next time. The ciders were perfect for a early summer evening, I had the Michigan Wit and my husband opted for the stronger Quohog followed by the Ginger peach. Strangely the wonderful crème brûlée we enjoyed on our first visit seemed to have evolved in a bad way. Be aware that it has pieces of chopped pecans throughout. I was disappointed expecting the smooth creaminess but I just didn’t enjoy the texture the nuts added. Service was excellent. Cory was new but he was quick to find out answers to our questions and point out specials of the house. We left feeling happy and full!

Vandermill is amazing. The ambiance is country but crafty with walls made from old apple crates. The menu has enough options to satisfy almost any pallet. I keep getting the white fish tacos because they are that good but I am really cheating myself by not trying something else. Obviously there ciders hard and regular are fantastic.

I can honestly say that I’ve never been a big fan of hard ciders, but Vander Mill has created a new fan out of me! I had the Totally Roasted at a local bar in my hometown, and was instantly hooked. So, on our way home form a trip Up North, we knew we needed to make a detour to Spring Lake to check this place out. In a very conspicuous location, they’re creating quite the establishment. First of all, we walked in and immediately smelled the delicious doughnuts that they make. So we had to order some, of course, and they were great! I am not typically big on cake doughnuts, either. We ordered two flights, plus one, so that we could try each of the types they had on tap. My favorites: Ginger Peach, Blue Gold, and Mojito. We got a few four-packs of cans to bring home for later. The food menu looked great, and we got a bit of insight from our server about the local, fresh ingredients, and about their chef’s background. I wish we would have been able to stay and eat there, but we had to be on our way. So that just means we have to return!
